    Living in Lisbon, becomes more expansive by the month, it causes me to relocate. Prices went up 130% in two years!!!!!! and then I am not even talking about Rent prices. The only thing cheap here are Alcohol and cigarettes. On the other side if you have a drivers license and can live outside of Lisbon, you can have a really good life.

    Hi, firstly thank you for the effort to give such elaborate explanation. I want to give some constructive critics. It would be better write down the numbers in the screen. Videos like this probably are not being watched entirely, so I’d rather watch a 3 minute general overview than a detailed video. You can try to explain things basically like; rent, transportation, food… simpler, shorter and better I guess. Have a nice one.

    Hey Eddie! I'm looking to move to Lisbon end of 2024, it's been on my radar awhile now. I'm currently trying to identify ideal neighborhoods & I came across a concern: What's your take on the noise pollution over there? I hear a lot of people have issues with the plane noise. Do you have recommendations for neighborhoods that are 'less noisy'? Obviously avoiding any noise entirely is unrealistic in a city like Lisbon, but I'm trying to foresee as many possible problems ahead of time so I can put measures in place now rather than later.

    • @livinginLisbonPortugal
      @livinginLisbonPortugal 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Stephen, first of all thank for watching and for your comment. When moving to Lisbon it is important to have the assistance of someone who understands the many variables when it comes to plane noises and other items you should be aware of when moving to the old world. I would personally not be so concerned with it as this is not an issue in most of the neighbourhoods, and I don't want to point out any areas as those areas can have apartments that are perfectly fine, it is really about searching for the right property while keeping in mind the fact you don't want to hear the planes. As real estate and relocation professionals we will be here to serve and assist when the time to make your move comes, lets schedule a zoom call when you are ready to start planning your move to beautiful Lisbon. Cheers,

      I do thank you for your time and attention watching the content we so carefully create to educate those considering moving to this beautiful country. Comparing Portugal to Equador is a far stretch, but each to their own opinion. I guess only time till tell if Portugal is going to continue to be welcoming, and to grown as this multicultural and international society, witch have contributed so much with the growth of the country economy in recent years, or if the country and its citizens will choose to go back to where the country was financially 20 years ago. Don't get me wrong, I understand the there is the positive and negative on everything, growth and progress are no different, as with many places as they grown and become more dynamic and desirable, the cost of living changes, and this is a worldwide issue, but I believe a good way to handle changes is to ride the wave and make opportunities happen. I have immigrated twice already in my lifetime, first to Canada when I was 18 and at the age of 40 to Portugal, with all the challenges I kept on going, and if I have to start al over again somewhere else I will. Life is too short to wean and complaint.

      Yes I do indeed work here in Portugal selling homes and relocating families, originally not from here and have worked hard to make my life happen here as are many others coming from all over the world, and rest assure the majority of the families moving here are not coming for tax benefits. Myself and the other foreign have been and are moving here as we are welcomed by the Portuguese people and the government policies welcoming us to this beautiful country. Of course there gonna be haters, like many other places in the world blaming progress and immigration to their personal challenges, people that are close to changes and having newcomers in their country, those that rather wean and complaint, and expect their government to fix things as opposed to rolling their sleeves and take advantage of the opportunities that are being generated by the growth happening in Portugal.

I’m thankful and glad to say that the great majority of the Portuguese people are the most kind and hospitable, and also understand the economic benefit of this international attention portugal have been getting. “Get the f..k out of here”, how old are you? We appreciate you that you are watching our comment, but if you have nothing productive to say please do yourself a favor and don’t watch our content, this content is being created for serious people who are considering making portugal their home, while contributing and supporting the economy.

    I'll tell you one of the reasons it is not affordable to live in Lisbon anymore. It's exactly because of expats that have way more money than portuguese people and can easily afford a rent, which in turn makes the landlords hike the prices up. So yeah. Thanks expats...

    • @livinginLisbonPortugal
      @livinginLisbonPortugal 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for watching and for your comments. It is important to look at the great picture, the expats have contributed a lot to the country and they continue to do so, Lisbon is now an exciting and cosmopolitan city, many of the old building that were abandoned have been refurbished, the city is lively and jobs have been created to cater to this growth; perhaps the Portuguese government could have been more cautious as how fast they allowed the city to grow. Higher cost of living is an issue worldwide and it in Portugal is not different, to blame the expats that followed the issues that are happening is unfair as they have are doing things by the book to move and maintain their residency here, if you are to point fingers one should do so by pointing fingers at those making the policies.

    • @kuratr
      @kuratr 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@livinginLisbonPortugal As I mentioned before, expats and digital nomads are certainly a significant contributing factor to the high rent prices in Lisbon. While it's true that our government bears some responsibility for allowing this issue to escalate, I want to emphasize that expats are undeniably one of the major drivers of these high costs. Additionally, the practice of multiple migrants sharing a single apartment, sometimes as many as 10-20 people, further exacerbates the situation. So, there are multiple factors at play here that are not in favor of regular citizens like us: a corrupt and inefficient government with high taxes, expats occupying expensive housing and even purchasing land, and a large number of migrants living in overcrowded and often illegal conditions without adequate oversight from authorities.

    When compared to an average monthly income in Lisboa, it is the 3rd most expensive city in the world. Right after London and Rome. Average monthly net income in Lisbon is about 1000€. A normal person that wants to live in an apartment (not renting a room) needs about 2200€ to cover the month. So you loose 1200€ every month. After covid things here have become terrible

      @@livinginLisbonPortugal Yes it is an issue with the entire world. Yet in other countries it is not that drastic. Munich has similar rent prices but the average salary is 5 times higher. So the point of my comment remains valid, Lisbon is the 3rd most expensive city in the world compared by the average cost of living/average salary. Just google....

      @livinginLisbonPortugal 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching and for your comment. I'm afraid to say that the property market will not take a hit from this, Portugal have much more to offer than tax benefits, the majority of people that have moved here recently did not benefit from golden visa program, nor are taking advantage of the NHR benefits. Lisbon is a very attractive city and people will keep on moving here. For the record expats need to live here for at least 5 years and learn Portuguese if they wish to become citizens.

    Real estate speculation by foreigners is making impossible for locals to buy or rent a house

    • @livinginLisbonPortugal
      @livinginLisbonPortugal 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching and for your comments. It is understandable the frustration of many regarding housing cost, this is a worldwide issue since pandemic times, not an issue encountered only in Portugal. In my opinion this is not speculation, it has to do with supply and demand, and an excessive amount of Alojamento Local. The demand needs to be increased, but the Portuguese government is not helping with it.

      @luisfilipe534 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@livinginLisbonPortugal you right.. not enought offer for the demand. Untill more houses are available, lets be social responsible and provide first the market for those that actually need a house to live. Like in other countries with much less severe situations like in Portugal, lets forbid non residents to buy houses here untill there is offer from the market.
