Well there’s no doubt that audiences at the recording of a sitcom are getting more laughs than those viewers who only see the televised version, without all the fluffs!
New vocabulary: To “Wogan” example: “Simon was woganning throughout the comidienne’s speech.” A verb which remotely suggests the ghost of a departed laugh meant to feign amusement no matter how existentially soul-crushing nor cringe. Sir Terry was infinitely affable and charming though the soul of a comedian he had not.
What I find interesting is that the Brittas' blooper featured comes from the episode "Laura's Leaving", which hadn't aired yet at the time this compilation came out.
26:34 “Get your leg over” means to have sex with someone for anyone who doesn’t know. Apparently, it caused a traffic jam because so many drivers were laughing so hard, they couldn’t drive anymore.
Oh, "icebreaker" I think. And I don't think it was bleeped out, it just sounds like VHS audio desynchronisation, it happens a few more times in the episode.
As I watch this 21 years on 'having worked for the BBC' I'm reminded of the BBC cutbacks of early 2000, characterised by the obligatory initial audience shot at the beginning to pretend there is a live audience so as not to look so cheap. Then for the rest of the broadcast resorting to the obvious studio-recorded shot of Wogan complete with unconvincing cringe-worthy piped laughter even over the videos themselves. The BBC's answer to 'It'll Be Alright on the Night" never quite worked I think as it never received the budget as it clearly shows on very many of its broadcasts.
I worked with the BBC a few time over my Royal Marines Career including Jim’s Generation Game. As a kid from the 1970s, it was brilliant to do and we were always welcomed whenever they worked with us. In my house as a kid the BBC was THE channel, either for me as a kid or Mum and Dad for serious programmes. Sadly now at the age of 51 the BBC is nothing as it was. I have cancelled my license, use only Amazon and Netflix and feel the greed of the BBC overwhelms it’s quality. I did laugh seeing in my Christmas magazine that for 2022 they replayed Morcame and Wise from 1972, the year I was born. How sad, the BBC should become subscription only or swallow their pride and use advertising!
@@historex54tamiya I definitely agree that the BBC was systemically underfunded, but it took a real nose dive around the time of the millennium. The cutbacks around 2000 to 2001 had a profound and damaging effect and resulted in a clearly noticeable decline in the quality of the BBS's output. A final word about BBC funding, those in special effects at the BBC got the unflattering nomenclature of "The Borrowers" due to their chronic underfunding. :)
@@Saor_Alba I thank you for the reply, I actually now manufacture and sculpt under my own business. The BBC was a dream but now A political ,a needle for the Borrower’s. I despise what they have become, I speak with a wallet and I am not Tory or Labour!

No higher res capture available? Surely 480p wouldn't upset copyright?
I can count the pixels with both hands.
We were not amused. I guess some people think this guy is funny.

Old and unwatchable!
Why is it such terrible quality? I was already filming and editing digitally in 1996, including for the BBC.
Rolf Harris messing with kids paid for with your licence fee, scandalous.
27:42 wasn't sure which one was talking
where is the kylie minogue one from the thumbnail?

Roger Bjack. Sex on legs!
Shame the print is so bad.
That poor presenter for North-West Tonight, she's been in at least three of these. xD
This show couldn't be more 2000 if it tried, right down to the knock-off eMac rear-projection screens. xD

30:37 The Doctor fell over

16:30 he timed it perfectly every time second time had me in stitches
18:18 What was bleeped out there? Was it "Eisteddefod"? And why?
Oh, "icebreaker" I think. And I don't think it was bleeped out, it just sounds like VHS audio desynchronisation, it happens a few more times in the episode.
29:37 Who's that in the photograph behind CT?
George V?
3:50 Who is Mike Hollander??? 6:42 old Hans??? Who's he.?
I'd love to watch this but I simply can't stomach that talentless pompous prick wogan
Cat action!
Good show but Wogan was just awful.
He's a national treasure. What do you mean, he was just awful?
He described it as not being a programme but a pension lol
BOOOOO
Back when TV was good enough to make fun of.
We're currently living in a golden age of TV lol.
Also you make fun of things for being bad. I've never heard of anyone making fun of anything for being too good.
Now most programmes are only fit for inducing people to throw things through the telly screen.
20:50 The Gnomes of Dulwich. These are cheap Japanese imports with P.O. (plastic odour) - about the only line I can remeber from that brilliant show.
Fantastic memories ❤
love Lisa Stansfield!! 16:13 - at least you know she was singing live xxx
Wouldn't know it if you searched for it! It's like it's been scrubbed from the Internet! Not even a blog post!
To out of focus
How long does the Introduction NEED TO BE??! Boring!…..
Wogan WAS boring
Very flat compared to ""It'll be alright on the night ""
Go have a cry about it.
31:41 - Ah, a time when Rolf Harris jokes had very different connotations.
Very true. Can you hear a fonz creep crying?
be careful, emulsions might run over about that ...... i could have gone with "Oh no you didgery di'nt" ☝
Hello Sal!
Unfortunately English humour has been stifled by the snowflakes and woke brigade
