Looking for some basic Sabar tutorials on-line. Very few out there. This one is brilliant. I think that the transcriptions are how the rhythm would be played at tempo. Here when he is demonstrating at slow tempo the flams are articulated as single notes.
Beautiful
Monsieur guys je vous remercie de corse pour votre aide à approcher de ce tambour magique
yeah !
Wohoo merci beaucoup svp continuez de faire ces vidéos ! Greetings from England
WAWAW djeuredjef wai merci beaucoup l'ami tu fais des super vidéos !
Waaw waaw! Merci! Merci! Merci! I'm your 100th subscriber! I had to click subscribe once I saw your work! Congrats on 100 subscribers! I am so happy you made these videos! I will keep listening so that when I am taking my Sabar dance classes, it will be a little bit easier. Thanks again!

the correct Toungoune should be the one he shows at 2'18" and it match the notation (because of sabar characteristic articulation you have to play the grace note of the flam on beat 1 and play the flam very open...). By the way very nice video and very good infos!! Thank you Maguette
Yeah the one flaw in this video is the wrong notation of the tungune he's demonstrating
I don't speak french or dutch (?subtitles) but this is perfectly understandable. Thank you!
Hey Guys. Great Video and it´s great how you are promoting the Sabar Musical Heritage!! I just want to call the attention to a detail in the video about the Tulli part which is wrongly transcribed in the notation example. Careful with the time placement of the notes .. The first tempo of the rhythm is in the first 8th note of the 4th tempo you guys transcribed .. it´s displaced. You can check taking in account the Gallayn parttern Maguette does !! Otherwise the video is great :)
Hi David, You are absolutely right! But we first wrote the transcription, and afterwords Maguette played the rhythm. And he played it a bit different, and I was not able to change it anymore...
mm.. ok. I don´t know what happened in the transcription process but i strongly doubt that Maguette would play the Tulli part differently in two different moments !? The Tulli, like any other Thioul rhythm, is very important and clear for a Guewel like Maguette. What happens much more often is that we, westerners, tend to listen to the same Sabar pattern in different ways :) But it´s good that is clarified here now ;)
This Guy is in Senegal ? If I Go There can U hook me up with a Good Teacher ...???
@@MonacoRocha sure 👍🏼
thanks for the video - but he plays toungany in two different places..and doesnt match notation
the correct Toungoune should be the one he shows at 2'18" and it match the notation (because of sabar characteristic articulation you have to play the grace note of the flam on beat 1 and play the flam very open...). By the way very nice video and very good infos!! Thank you Maguette
