This is sick! Thanks for programming these classic tunes and sharing this video with us, man. Super cool! Something I’d be curious to know is your opinion on how similar your beats sound to the original recordings. Like, now that you’ve done this, can you hear any subtle differences in your versions that you can’t seem to quite replicate? And, if so, what are those (minute) differences exactly? What I’m getting at is, obviously all house music was originally created using drum machines and synths and samplers… but something I’ve never been able to figure out is how much other factors contributed to the precise sound-whether that’s certain compressors or effects units that were also used in the recording process, etc. I know it depends on the era of house music you’re talking about, but if we’re talking about this era in the 80s, how close do you think you’ve come to recreating the exact sound? Because you could have done this entire video in Ableton-but obviously it’s not gonna be 100% the same as the originals as something gets lost when you’re using software. So how close, then, do you think yours comes to the originals? Every one of these sounds pretty damn good to me. But it is a TH-cam video so I can’t tell how close it comes to sounding 100% the same.
I don't care which one sounds more like a 808, I personally like the two different claps, maybe slightly prefer the mk1, but mk2 better on some patterns.
If the 505 had individual outs this would have been as popular as the 707 - well almost. Awesome Drum Machine! 😎
I have another one with seperate outputs. I have to say for some reason, i like the 505 as much as my 707 … it‘s like having stripped down versions of a 707 and 727 in one little machine … i wish it had a swing function.
@@alphacats3192 Swing would be ace. You can do triplets though I think so I think you can program it in manually.
Nowadays you can just multitrack it to your DAW by muting all the sounds except the one you are recording. It’s a nice sounding machine if you not trying to pay $500-700 for a 707.
@@ericMT I think sound wise it's second to 707 the only thing it's lacks is the individual outs and swing.
Thanks
where did you get these samples from?
woow this is amazing!! are the sounds in the video coming from the cartridge? is the sound card up for sale anywhere?
Hey, thanks … it‘s just a normal RAM Card to store 100 more Patterns - there are no Sounds on it. All Sounds are from the R-70 itself. Without the Card you can store only 100 Patterns into the machine …
Wo ist eigentlich kks und mor bei 4.12 minuten?
Great drum sound! So that’s how you do it!😉
Love Chicago House and the TR-707 ❤❤
Thats not acid.....cheap made in india plastic.....TB303 AND TR909 CAN YOU NOT IMITATE
Do you need a card to edit the at this way? Mine doesn't have a card
No. I had it for two years when I was young. You can save sounds at the internal memory. But you need a card for backing up your sounds from the internal to card, so ...if the internal battery of this synth ...fail or even its dead...you ensure that your sounds has not been losted and you can transfer them again to your internal bank. I think I was clear. You don't need a card for editing and saving sounds ,but you do need a card for back up. Otherwise you can save your sounds on PC. If you search...I am sure you gonna find a sound editor that is working for sy35 and sy22 as well.
amazing, groovy and minimalistic :)
This is brilliant
Thanks 😊
nice!

I would also like to sync the 626 to the rd 9, did you use any external hardware/software to sync them or you Just used midi/trigger out? Also, are there any specific settings I have to adjust on the 626 or do I Just plug and play?
For us old geezers in their mid 50's we would have danced to this one tune all night in the late 80's. Top!
🔝🎹🔝
Hi can i get this machine and from where any side or any app
What do mean by that?
With DT-300 you can make a hypersaw .
Great job , love it !
Great sound 👍
Just bought ☝️. Can't wait for some crunchy lo-fi sampling sessions with PO33KO! n Volca Sample.
Btw do you know how to make classic footwork sounds on R70? (sounds like hum bass etc)
My Guess would be with the 808 kick drum ...
@@alphacats3192 I have heard, that it is really pitched down 808 cowbell. Dj Clent have said in some video. But i am struggling with it - my pitched down cowbell doesn't sound like theirs(
@@foolycooly6738 ... thx for the hint, i will test that, maybe you have to pitch down the instrument and than to pitch it down more via the step setting? i think that i possible and it goes really deep down then ...
@@alphacats3192 i have never tried it, but the idea is good - thank you!
More R-70 tutorials please! And more footwork beats -they are the best!
i am in the planning for more tutorials. 👓
Thank you for this video! It is really helpful - i got the same drum machine and wanted to make some footwork!
I have another video with beats .. but no tutorial. thanx :) youre welcome
@@alphacats3192 yeah, i have already seen it - great stuff man!
Dope!
hi if you still own the TR-626 unit, would you be able to give a hand in figuring out the specifics of its flam and volume settings?
Really great. I have a TG33 and man is it underrated. I mainly used it for shorter and percussive sounds but your video shows that i should try to be more curious about other sounds as well. your patch is awesome PS: And i always appreciate when someone is not just showing the presets. Those old machines can be still useful today from sound designers view point. the horrible gui shouldnt scare you.
Thanks ... still triyin to get my hands on a TG33 ... this are very underrated items. Espaciallly the 22 and 33 ... great for "lofi-ish" pads ... have fon with yours ...greetings
@@alphacats3192 i also use a lot of external editing. Edisyn, CTRLR and also a Novation Zero. But i mainly use my SY77 and TX802 so the TG33 is always a bit left behind...maybe this will change now??
@@thehimer3903 oh i miss my TX802 ... with an editor it might be fun to programme now. I am looking for a SY77 for month now ... one day i will find one. Still have a DX7 MK1, what a beautiful Synth ... had alot of FM synths but it was on a DX7 i finally learned to programme FM. Have that CTRL Editor for the SY22 .. but used it only on a SY35 now, with the FM Source opened it becomes a different animal. but sadly no time to get into it now ... and then all my custom souds will be gone. first i would have to store them ...
What mixer are you using?
Hey i use a Mackie 1604 VLZ3 in this Video ...
@@alphacats3192 thanks a lot man
yeah, geil
Great track and I love the video.
Cool vid!

MORE CONGAS. Sorry. I just love tr727 congas. 😂
Nice! Thanks for the demo. I thought about getting ine of these but bought a wavestation instead :P it bugged me ha i foes no have a filter
Had the Wavestation 3 times - i understand your reasons, but always sold it because i did not get warm with ist. I found the interface is an encapsulated mess. It was really disturbing that you only have 32 storable waveforms for 50 patches in 50 performances and that the changing of a waveform affects all your sounds. That drove me nuts ... i like the SY22 with it raw sound and the M1 much more ... cheers ✌
@@alphacats3192 3 times? Wow, ok well i bought it recently but i feel like i really like the sound of it. The interface is not ideal, but at least it has a relatively large display. The storage system is a mess thats true, but i feel like it's ok when you only program performances with just one patch in it. By doing that you can create sounds while not destroying others all the time. So far it seems to work ok. But i yeah, i'm still interested in the SY22 (or 35) or maybe also the Wavestate...
Thanks I have one of these that I am waiting for a few new keys - nice to see the SY22 getting some love.
How do we get rid of that ground noise? 🔌 😭
i had to use the phone out because the normal output is dead.
FANTASTIC TEAZER !!!! I Honestly would have to be tortured to make a choice between the 808 & 909 !!😬😬😬😫😫😋😜👍 WICKED JAM CAT.😜Jaffa
Thank you !
Very good jam 👍
Thx man
Ur the best😊
Thank You
Got one of these bad boys a couple months ago in great condition. A new staple.
is there a groove or swing function that can be applied?
Yes ther is somthing like that .. a "laid back" function ...
Right one is the MK II , just by the clap ....
Yes thats true ... i returned the MK2 after shoting because i thought the difference is very small :)
