Rhea County, Tennessee has played a major role in U.S. history and is a place worth exploring! Start in Dayton at the historic Rhea County Courthouse where the “Scopes Monkey Trial” took place in 1925. Visitors can experience firsthand the courtroom where one of the most famous trials in history was held and also a museum that houses interesting artifacts associated with the Scopes case. Enjoy a tasty lunch at the Screen Door Kitchen, a local eatery with unique dishes and an enthusiastic family that operates the restaurant. Head north to Spring City to learn about local history at its train depot museum, including what caused the “Stop, Look and Listen” law to be enacted after a school bus tragedy. Go for a hike at Piney Falls State Natural Area and take in the beautiful scenery and waterfalls. End the day back in Dayton at Monkey Town Brewing Company for some refreshing samples of local craft beers and good company with owners who care about their community.

While I enjoyed your piece, I had a sense of terrible sadness watching the Milky Way portion. My mothers brother died at the age of 11 walking across a field after a storm, electrocuted by a downed power line. Mr. Mars had always treated him like a son and was truly devastated when he died.

This place is Corrupt. The police are the Gestapo here. The Sheriff was indicted by the FBI and the county executive was arrested and murdered to keep what he knew, silent. They abuse Veterans, homeless, handicap, and people of color.
They did forget to mention that my good friends murder is still not resolved in Giles county. Great police work!
