skimmed through quick seems like what i need i have a game im making thats zelda like i wanna have the player get hurt and warp back to land if cant swim yet entering water deff have to tweak it but good starting point for this thank you

Great tutorial. Was very informative and gave me a good jumping off point to develop into my own system. Thank you for the direction. It was just what I needed.
Just a quick potential bug fix. Instead of plugging in the door world location when doing the dot product use the door frame @ 7:27 The reason why is because when you open the door the right vector will go into the negative when fully open causing the door to open not properly.
You should do a store / level up system, so that the player can purchase either items or level ups with these 'scores'. Since this essentially works both as a currency system and an XP system. It can tie into the 'takeaway' side of the component. "Get item, take away score"
Did a tutorial like this by Gorka games and he had the score saved in the BP Third Person, problem with that is the score disappears and breaks the widget when you implement a respawn system. When you destory actor for the third person BP on player death, it destroyed the score info as well. So when you popped back up you could collect them still, but the score would remain at zero. THIS on the other hand, stores it in the actor component, so the score remains. So much better than his way. I've been trying to make this work for a couple days now, thanks!

When I test on my computer for mobile standalone, everything works great. When I package and put it on android phone, score doesn’t update any idea why it doesn’t work on the device? It works on the testing in unreal engine.
Im not familiar with mobile development so I couldn't say. I would check and make sure you have the correct anchor point and UI scale for mobile.
Please can you make a playlist to make a storyline game like shadow of tomb raider and uncharted specially the level design parts

Hello, just a quick little suggestion for the thumbnail, that you may be better off using a plain white version of the Unreal logo, instead of black with white glow behind it. It would look a lot cleaner and nicer. Nice video either way!

Hello, How would you deal with more complex environments ? Like having a landscape shaped like a cliff and some rock mesh put against it ? With that system, the trace got the slope part of the landscape and the rock meshes, and the respawn can occurs below them or in the slope.
So I managed to do it! just an issue, the crosshair blinks instead of staying white.... how can I fix it?
Update: I'm now following this video and after 6:05 the preview doesn't show the crosshair at all, any idea why?
it could be because the event begin play already exists in a default blueprint that comes with the first person controller, could you help me out with this? I'm kinda lost :(
Try going to your project settings and make sure you have the proper hud class and character setup.

I coded them from scratch, its pretty simple. The animations and model I got from the marketplace.

These are the correct metrics for waist and crouch cover. I also worked at Treyarch on Cold War, Warzone, and now at Respawn. But thanks!

The interface isn't doing anything except checking it is implemented. Also you have the player reference from the overlap event, the one you used to check if the interface is implemented - if you wanted to use the interface you don't need the cast, simply pull off the >other actor> pin and find Pickup(Message) then implement the Pickup event on the playercharacter.
This is great, I really like seeing your process. I am curious about how you go about designing the layout. Do you draw it on paper first or do you jump directly to Affinity? Are you already thinking about metrics here in some way or is it just a general idea?
It depends. I typically don't set myself on one path to come up with a layout because, for me, the more formulated it is - the other designs have some similarities with one another. Some days drawing works and some days just jumping strait in editor works. But, generally, I have high level goals with the style of gameplay I want. For example, CQC, tactical combat, etc. And then I will work to achieve that goal. I usually start with a theme as well, as that plays a big part in layout and how you can use the assets and architecture in a unique interesting way.

Great tutorial! Still pretty new to blueprints, do you know how I would go about disabling jump while crouched? I still clip through geo when jumping while crouched.
Put a branch from the the jump input. Plug your "isCrouching" variable into it. Off the true line do nothing, off the false line do your jump functionality.

For sure. Future videos on this will be better structured. This was just a quick update as I hadn't uploaded in some time plust not having much time to edit and make a script for a video. Thanks for the input.

when i push the button my character drops down into floor? Any ideas why that would be happening? The capsule works but the character drops through floor about upto the knees and walks can you show how to add an animation onto this?
i prefer that learning too, hate just copy and paste
