Welcome To Naval Station Norfolk! I just moved here about two weeks ago from Naval Air Station Pensacola after graduating Navy IT A-School, and this is my experience so far being here. I'll be taking you along the ride with me throughout my stint here at Norfolk being a newly rated IT(Information Systems Technician) in the United States Navy!

My son is graduating from boot camp on Thursday. He got his orders and it’s different. His contract says IT ATF and he’s supposed to stay there 2yrs. His orders only say IT and he will be there for only 6 months. I find that odd
Yeah so I’m currently in c school as an IT and I’m ATF he’ll be in a school for roughly 5 months and then like a week to 3 weeks later he will start c school and that’ll be roughly 4.5 months
@@codclipz8454can you explain what atf is & why is it so long
@@phclout5893 so ATF is advance technical field and you sign on an extra 2 years (so 6 in total) and in return you get a c school and automatic advance to e4 6 months after you make e3. And if you go into bootcamp as an e1 you will get e2 upon completion of bootcamp and e3 9 months after e2. If your not atf you have to wait 30 months after making e3 to put on e4

Im hella late but im a prior service infantry Marine thinking about going the Navy reserve IT route. I'd be going to IT A school as an E-5. Any advice on how they'll treat prior enlisted? Especially as an E-5 former grunt. I dont want to be doing typical new boot shit lol

also if you want to go into the navy DONT BE COLORBLIND xD... I was originally going to be a nuke but turns out i cant see enough green. soooooo, yeah. being colorblind disqualifies you from a lot of jobs
signed a 6 year (+ 24 months active reserve) contract as a CTN. this video really helped me with knowing what to expect. Im still waiting on my top-secret clearance, so lets hope i get that, but thanks for the info man!!

I went to Norfolk and went to the base with my Unc. It was lit and my fav part was that big NEX kinda off the base it was cool Fr fr .
IF I knew what I knew now I would've Chose IT. but I still love the job that I do as an OS!

I just left Corry I’m a CTN lol it’s kinda funny seeing everything. A part of me misses Pensacola, but so much shit happened I’m excited to be here in San Antonio lol
I just signed a 4 year contract, and I picked IT as my rate. I got it and I’m supposed to ship out on June first. This video was a lot of help and I’m excited to be apart of something bigger than my self.

Everyone has to go to Their a school unless you are a pact seaman which I do not recommend
