เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 17 ก.ค. 2011
David Cools is a Belgian pianist and composer with Spanish roots.
He has studied with maestros such as Julien Libeer, Alessandro Cervino and Peter Feuchtwanger - the Zen master of piano. In 2001 he won the first prize of the Musicologica piano competition (Leuven, Belgium), as well as the first prize for the interpretation of the compulsory work. As a composer, David won the Best Soundtrack award at Ciné Public Festival, Belgium, 2009, for the movie El camino del deseo by Eva Cools.
As a neuropsychologist, David is aware of the transformative power of music. Recent studies show playing piano is the most complete workout for the brain. Together with Anthony Hughes he developed a holistic approach to the piano integrating the teachings of Frédéric Chopin and Peter Feuchtwanger, warming-up exercises and brain friendly learning based on the latest neuropsychological research.

Thank you so much for the video and demonstration. I just want to ask about the chair height i always have difficulty and not feeling comfortable am 188 cm with long arms and legs i guess the Alfred kortot 40 to 45 cm didn’t work any other suggestions please 🙏🏻
I have a fond memory of hearing Anthony play Fur Elise, aged 13, in a music exam, and some years later give an excellent master class at Liverpool University. I’m very happy to hear this recital. I would love to hear more.
Come to our Peter Feuchtwanger Symposium we just had, next year 2025.
I have a cherished memory of Anthony, aged 13 or so, playing Fur Elise in a music exam. It was stunning. It is good to hear him again after so many years.
Hi! Thank you for this video. Really helpful. About the pause for the brain to absorb it: we pause and then come back to the same spot and study it again, or we pause and change spots, and later check on the earlier spot?
thanks a bunch guys, really helpful
Now I'm puzzled... On my teacher's recommendation, after some problems with tendonitis, I've been using Cortot's warm-up exercises (Principes Rationnels de la Technique Pianistique) for several years now and they work for me. How do the two methods compare in terms of protecting your hands?
Hallo, waar kan men het boek “Chopin herdacht” aanschaffen? Het blijkt onvindbaar op het web. Bedankt!
Zeer mooi! Waar was het opgenomen?
Truly enjoyed this and found it helpful. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing! Question: if you don’t prepare, how do you get to the right notes? And why you don’t want to prepare? I’m at late beginner level.
Preparing creates tension and slows you down.
Excellent videos! This is helping my Prokofiev 2nd concerto practise, and memorization tremendously!
Hi guys. Love the videos. Can you both please speak into the Mike a bit louder as I’m struggling to hear your voices. Could you both please do a video on how to get your fingering faster. I struggle to get the motions quick enough and was wondering what can I do to help?…
Peter Feuchtwanger's first exercise Quickrelease is similar to Chopin's phase 1: staccato, completely relax your fingers after striking the key, don't prepare the next key. Backwards chunking always helps with long slurs of fast notes. See Peter's exercise no.10 Descending scale.
Dear David and Anthony, thanks again for taking the time and effort to share your knowledge and experience. I loved the hippocampus explaination! What a wonderful iniciative on your part.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. So much useful information explained concisely and clearly. Anthony and David, your time and expertise are very much appreciated!
The most beautiful valediction. Bravo.
Hmm sounds out of tune, 5/10 being generous
It doesn't really. But your comment is beside the point.
One of the best interpretations of this fugue on the piano I've listened to, really fantastic playing!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
¡Bravo!
David is impressive , I hope to see you this summmer in Cartagena , and to be able to listen to you. A big hug.
Thanks a lot dear Antonio. Spain has always a big place in my heart.
Simply Beautiful! Would have made Peter Feuchtwanger proud!
Oh, he was there 👍
Yeah, Peter always spoke with highest admiration about this recital. ♥️🎹
Great performance David!
Demasiado lindo! Me encanta la interpretación de ustedes ❤️
Muchas gracias Ave!
AMAZING. His play is fantastic, it touches your deepest strings ❤️
Bravo David!
Bravo, complimenti!
magical performance fabulous...expression i love it
Gracias dulce joya 👍
A beautiful performance.
Dear Gerard, thank you so much for your kind comment. Your work on the Sonata is a must-read.
@@dacovaz I'm glad that you enjoy reading the published works of Martin, Tibor and myself.
Complimenti David! Esecuzione perfetta!!
Grazie Alessio!
Really really impressive.
Thanks! I think together with the Tempest they are the perfect repertoire to play in these surreal covid times!
Fenomenale 🤩🤩🤩🌋
Grazie Lorenzo:)
An excellent performance of such a great masterpiece. I enjoyed it very much.
Thanks a lot dear Anthony.
Impresionante, David. Te atreves con esa sonata imposible y lo haces de maravilla. Felicidades, es un paso de gigante.
Gracias José Manuel. Cada concierto es un ensayo más:)
Anthony , I've been trying to find you on line for years, I hope you're keeping well, You're music is sublime, We were great buddies at the RNCM,
Hello Sean! It's so great to hear from you! Yes, I remember us being great mates back at the RNCM. I don't check the "viewings" every day on this, which is why it took me so long to reply!! I do hope you're ok and have often thought about you!
Muy buena interpretación. Es una obra que no es nada fácil y está muy bien resuelta, muy bien desde el punto de vista técnico y también desde el musical. Un trabajo excelente. Enhorabuena!
Gracias maestro!
David, I really enjoy listening to this performance; it is very beautiful playing which really expresses the Spanish spirit of the music. Your sound sings naturally, David, and there is a wonderful balance between both instruments present throughout the entire performance. Well done!
Thanks a lot dear Anthony!
Hey David, Congratulations! Very nice interpretation of the work, you did a very nice job. A very strong performance both technically and emotionally. Good to see that there are still musicians who can understand the deepest thoughts in the music. :)
Thanks dear Istvan!
I´m so happy to see this finally! Fantastic playing.
Good song!!
Eindelijk eens een prettig geluidsbeeld en normaal opgenomen zo te horen. De technische opstelling kan nog wel een stuk verbeterd worden maar jullie spelen erg leuk! Ga zo door!
very good version of a magical music which brings us back to chilhood and dream
This is great.... what an underrated piece!
Thanks a lot Michael, I think so too! Franz Liszt is not only one of the best pianists who ever lived. Judging by his Sonata alone he has to be ranked next to Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and all the great composers.
Hi! I wonder if you are in contact with Anthony Hughes? We were great friends at Music College thirty years ago but lost touch.
Hi Richard! I've only just noticed your comment here. I was only thinking about you about 1 week ago!! But I have often thought about you. I hope you are well and it would be great to hear from you. My email:- hughes7.ah@gmail.com
@@anthonyhughes6688 So happy to unite old friends again through music!
Anthony, this is brilliant. You have a great gift, your playing is so sensitive I was transported and uplifted. A truly "spiritual experience."
Dear Keith, thanks for your kind comments about my playing. I really appreciate them. I would have replied sooner but only recently discovered the 'comments' section of the app! Kindest regards, Anthony Hughes
Anthony, I was enthralled watching your hands stroke and glide across the octaves. It was "poetry in motion". Your talent is awe-inspiring. I can't use enough superlatives to describe the video. I was just enraptured by it. It's an honour to know such an incredibly talented gentleman. Xx
I totally agree with every single word, dear Alison. Mesmerizing!
