Does all the models of the skutt kiln have the same control and programmes as shown in model shown in this video

Hi Can I run the kiln with only two sections? took off the top sectiont and kept getting a fail message. I swapped out the thermocouples so it is not that - when I hooked up the thermocouple to the section I was planning not to connect the fail message went away.. so I am presuming I cannot just disconnect and remove one entire section? Does this makes sense or is there a way to remove one ring section completely

I have thrown flowerpots standing for 50 years and more but at 72 I like sitting on a high stool as well like Steve ..With larger pots (above 36 pounds )I need my feet flat on the ground so I can really push so a speed lever option would be a great addition on these wheels .. One production potter I know solved the problem by taking a foot peddle and screwed it to the wooden frame he built around his wheel and added a stick to get a lever out of a foot peddle for his standing wheel ... Looks like a great wheel you have built . We love our 1247 s and are very thankful to Skutt for a lifetime of helping potters get the job done ... Yours Guy @ Guy Wolff Pottery

I’m only firing 1/4” tiles - can I put two full kiln shelves below the thermocouples and so long as I’m staying an inch above and below the thermocouples do as many shelves that I can fit?

There’s just not enough info in these videos. :( I need help. What’s normal? What happens afterwards? How do you test if you did a good job? Is the smoke normal when firing new elements for the first time. My graph flat lined and it didn’t ramp up. Smelled like burning and there was smoke inside is this normal? I really wish scutt had more educational videos. How about diagnostics? What is supposed to be normal? Not enough info in manuals to understand diagnostics 😢

I can report that this IS possible to do on your own. BUT, if you can find a second pair of hands you'll appreciate them because the sections and especially the lid and base are very heavy, made awkward because of the spread of the handles and the diameter of the parts. I did my new 1227-3 yesterday. Also, I didn't pay the additional $375 for the rolling stand. I took the stand that came with the kiln, welded a bottom to it with 14ga sheet steel and welded on 4 casters. When assembling the kiln by yourself or with a helper make sure the wheels are locked or blocked or you may end up with a very heavy part leaning against the other sections while chasing the whole thing across the shop. :-)

I don’t want the idle when my kiln is done, what can I do

I am wondering if placing a large piece, for exemple a large bowl, especially a large plate or platter across the 1/4 inch gap between the two half-shelves might have a negative effect on the piece... I imagine this would not be recommended even though the two half-shelves are perfectly the same height and even... Would it be better to use a full shelf or a plate support to bear the piece across the gap ? Thanks for your advice!

I believe the 'Current Sensor' mini circuit board was connected backwards with the pair of white wires coming in from the top instead of the bottom.

I'm confused. I'm teaching at a university with four skutt kilns; neither one of them have a preheat option when selecting cone fire. Would I have to do a ramp hold to achieve a preheat?

In the Ramp & Hold chart it says rate: 999°/hr but the audio said 9999°/hr. - I’m pretty sure 999° is correct but I’m a total noob and honestly don’t know which one is correct.

I broke my kiln sitter porcelain cover and one of the guides fell off. Anyone know how to repair it temporarily for anout a week. I got orders to fill and need a quick fix until new one comes in.
