How do you get your sct down so low?
@mikeymike8054 combination of internal limiters, 0mm shock cups and spring collars backed all the way off.
How do you mount the body? Do you drill the front holes first than rear or rear first than front holes?
@fpvfish6218 I drilled the front first and then made sure the center line of the body was centered over the shock. With the rear body mounts removed, I marked the locations for the rear posts by inserting a drill bit up from the bottom through the graphite cross plate holes where the posts attach. I did this with a drill bit.
Great video, thank you Trevor. May I ask what tire you put on the CK25? And would you recommend it?
Thanks! I went with the Gravity RC - TYPE 12 12th Scale Rubber Tires - GRC142B. I chose this due to the recomendation of the drivers at a nother track who are all switching to it. It hasn't been tested at my local track yet. It still requires sauce but is far easier to maintain than foam. Hard to recomend it for you without knowing what surface you run on or if you have a foam tire truer or not.
I put links in the description to the electronics, body and tires.
Thank you for the vid. Can u make a vid on tuning and set up. There are no vids on the CRC CK25
@robrego7715 Thanks. As soon as the electronics are installed, that's the next video. Ill cover what on the car is adjustable and how those adjustments affect handling.
Thanks for posting your setup
@chrismorley148 thanks. Could have been more detailed. Ill post a follow-up after the next race.
How do you get the truck down so low?

What battery’s are the pro drivers running in 1/10 buggy?
@CarveLife whatever their sponsor gives them. They're all made in a handful of factories in China then different businesses slap their brand name on them. Run a HV if your ESC, receiver and servos are rated for HV.
Do racers have both carpet and dirt diffs built separate and just swap them out?
@@CarveLife some do. Some like me have two completely different cars, each dedicated specifically for carpet and a different one for dirt. But most club racers just have one car that they change the diff and tires on.
First race quality for me too, wish I still had it
Great videos. Thanks for the information!
@@rocpile thanks for watching!
Hello, I also like the balsa wood model, which city are you in, may I visit you
My JRX2 has the exact same battery hold down. Think are JRX2's are later kits that came with different battery hold downs.
@Dabber422 JrX2 are the first kit. The early JrX2 cars had a very different battery strap
You in Ontario? Able to remember the name of the hobby shop 4 hrs away from your house as a kid? I'm located in Toronto and have a nice little vintage 2wd collection. Keep the vintage content coming :)
Worth every minute it takes. Man if I ever find one at a swap meet that isn't a hot mess...its coming home with me.

@trevorfurlotte that says a lot
@ModelAV8RChannel considering how the collection has exploded and has a number of gems in it, yeah, Id have to agree.

Graphite fiberglass parts, not a carbon fibre on the JRX2
@maritimezombie7684 interesting. My bad for assuming that they stayed true to the original. Makes sense sadly. That's for correcting the internet, bud. Not all heroes wear capes.
@ I thought originals also used a graphite not carbon fibre?
@@maritimezombie7684 I used the terms synonymously, like pledge and donation.
Wow! Thats a lot of vintage Losi stuff. Stuff you just don't see anymore. No doubt you should get at least two good cars out of that lot. Watching!
@CallmeDaBreeze1971 Thanks for watching. Looks like I'm missing front steering arms/axles and most of what I need to build a set of shocks. Will revisit this second car idea soon.
Informative video Trevor. Thanks bud.
Awesome video thanks for sharing
@geospeedy9303 thanks for watching. I was looking over the extra parts again this morning. I definitely don't have enough for a second build. Now, do I restore a shelf queen or a runner?
You don’t listen. The Short wheel base sct still uses buggy arms and drive dogbones. But yes, so awesome all the RTR AE cars share so many parts.
@maritimezombie7684 what?
@ you heard me. The SWRTRs still use buggy arms.
@@maritimezombie7684 lol
"Carl" obviously knew his aerodynamic: he filled the gap between the wing struts with clear coating to minimized drag, the cowling exhaust is a thing of fluid beauty. Anyone putting so much thought into aerodynamic (at the expense of appearance) must have designed amazing planes. God forbid you ever crash it, but if you ever do, document the innards, like the internal structure of the wing.
Wow! What great improvements!, recent servo with metal gears, 60 amp brushed esc, 2s lipo battery, and what impresses me most is the 12 turns motor, it will run very well, although I would definitely be very careful not to damage the gears. the transmission, but with 17-19 mph I think it will be a lot of fun! Hopefully you'll run it soon and do a speed test, lubricate the differential well and don't take it over 19 mph! to avoid damage
@zoridor16 added capacitors and it's still acting strange. Top speed is less than an old school modified motor I used to run in my original trucks back in the late 80s. That said, I did make sure the gears and diff were well lubricated. Thanks for watching!
Lookin' good!
I’m just commenting here to help your TH-cam stats
Thanks for the video, great info. Agree that there isn't enough SC content out there. One thing you mentioned is the Slipper spring. What part number did you use? I've used the B44 slipper on my SC10 in the past
ASC91891
How much slop/play do you have with the spring cups? Are you using 5mm or 0mm?
@chillyrc 0mm. Slop play between the top of the spring and collar?
@@trevorfurlotte yeah with lower ride heights the kit shocks need the collars to the top (which it appears you did) but then the spring can move around since the spring cup can't keep the spring secure and sometimes the spring will come off the bottom.
Zip tie the spring to the cup. I do it on my buggy. If it pops off you won't lose it and ruin your race
@buckchocklit is this a 13mm issue? Ive run an SC6.1 and .2 and never had a problem.
My planes sat around for years. I put new batteries in the TX and RX , heated up the sticky motor with the heating iron. Checked the hinges and clevises and flew the hell out of em!
I hate carpet and clay tracks and will never get back into the hobby unless there are "real" offroad tracks locally.
@phoneuser3569 Amen! If treated clay was all that was available, I'd bail altogether. Carpet however for weekends in the winter is okish. Clean and consistent. I like that. I especially like that a set of tires can last me a whole season.
You sound so similar to another channel I watch for hiking information. Gear Skeptic. At any rate well done vid.
More throttle :D
Hi Trevor! Thanks for subscribing, you´re a crazy wild pilot xD :D
@ficosk8 trying! Wish my vids were better quality. A lot is lost as a result of recording on a phone.
@@trevorfurlotte the quality is very good I think! :D
@ficosk8 this one is ok. Some make the plane appear much further than it is.
@@trevorfurlotte ok, yes because of the wideness :/
Hahaha cool! I had the normal Vapor (FPV) second hand for a couple of weeks and flew high alpha in the office :P But I broke it a couple of times and got rid of it.
@ficosk8 I've got a mini vapor too but it's dying. Lol
@@trevorfurlotte hahaha I got mine second hand for indoor flying but the fuselage “one carbon rod” was broken so I repaired it. But then I broke the prop adapter trying a looping without too much altitude indoors. Than I fixed it a bit but lost interest and sold it to get the money back, what was good :)
i REALLY wish you when over shocks more. clearly you have very different setups. almost looks like buggy shocks on the carpet setup, at least the front.
@@dirtrider88 same size shocks on both trucks. The carpet truck shocks use thicker oil and stiffer springs.
@@trevorfurlotte then how the fuck is it sitting so much lower?
@dirtrider88 cups, eyelets, collars, droop adjusted with internal spacers etc. Mostly though, the ride height is adjusted simply with the collars.
Can we use B6.4 rear hub onto B5M ?
I'm sorry but I have no idea.
who makes a pro4 truck thats already set up for carpet. all the ones i looked at are for dirt. How much money does it cost to turn a dirt truck into a carpet warrior?
@douglasedmonds8372 modern stadiums are closer to carpet truck than dirt trucks. All it takes is tires, springs, oil, gear diff and anti-sway bars. Couple of hundred bucks probably.
Nice one. Too bad they don't kit it anymore. :(
Good looking plane. Just like the box. Flies just like mine. Except mines Electric. I posted a video on the conversion.
Mine does not look like the box. Lol I'm not that good. Haha
@waynemiller6070 pretty easy covering job except for the curve at the vertical fin that follows the same lines as the original. The rest is just paint and decals.
That is a badass plane!
@@ModelAV8RChannel it is! Flying it again in the morning!
Looks awesome, I help run a track in Potlatch, ID ... Palouse River RC ... we have a sign, and post once in a while in the town's community page, which helps somewhat keep them at bay, but kids on bikes love piles of dirt... lol Place looks really nice, cheers
🏁Awesome! Thanks for sharing
My first RC car kit had a mechanical speed controller without a BEC so I ended up using both the servos as well as the battery box that came with my Futaba Attack II. The JRX Pro was my first race-grade RC car as well. I wanted an RC10 and it would have been the sensible choice as there was local support for it but a new kit was too expensive so I got a used Team Losi instead. I also think the JRX was the superior car and the old gold pan had been obsolete since the turn of the decade but TA had the best drivers and the cars were modified heavily to keep winning. In 1995, they created something that became even more successful for a longer time (I count the B3 and B4 as iterations of the same car) even if it doesn’t have the iconic status of the OG. So Asso came back with a buggy that was modern and competitive out of the box. I got back into RC after a long hiatus and I’m driving Team Associated cars now: the B74.2 and an RB10 that I built from a DR10 kit and equipped with a Penguin B4 Repo body. I remember my JRX Pro and ’94 YZ-10 with great fondness but I have no interest in hunting for expensive NOS stuff with a constant worry about breaking something I can’t replace with reasonable effort so the RB10 is retro enough for me. If you sent one 25 years back in time people wouldn’t blink an eye, they would think it’s just a metric experimental B2/B3 from Asso. If you sent a B74.2 back in time people wouldn’t know which way to look at it and who even made the damn thing. The rivalry between Team Associated and Team Losi reached the ass-end of Europe as well. In the ’90s, the local way of pronouncing it was ”Team Lousy”. Sadly, I didn’t have the skills and resources to fully exploit the potential of the JRX Pro so I was never able to prove them wrong.
First, I love your user name. Second, thanks for taking the time to share your experience!
Awesome!. She came out great and I really enjoyed watching all 5 parts lol. As soon as I seen the part 1 of the restore I was instantly hooked and had to watchem all considering that the Big Brute was also my first hobby grade RC purchased in '88-'89 not exactly sure but I still have it today and it still run it here and there, and strangely enough too I have the same Diamond tires that you have on yours because my original set pretty much melted and rotted and its so hard to find the original Bridgestone chevron style tires. Those Chevrons just completed the look tho , it just gives it that original monster jam truck look. It has that special bond with it and I can never see myself getting rid of it , there's just something your first hobby grade RC and one that we had to build!! Lol not like the RTR's you can buy today. 😂.. ✌
Ok now after reading that I need to get my act together and record the final part showing the completion of the project. Thanks for the comments!
@@trevorfurlotte I just subscribed so I'll be waiting! 😉🤣
@SoundStream101 thanks! The brute body came back from my painter so it's time for an update for sure.
You're very smart
On a smooth High grip clay track, do you want hight or lower height?
Lower
@trevorfurlotte Thanks, I'm driving a team associated car that I bought used, and I have made zero changes. But it seems to handle pretty well, actually. The only thing I've changed is adding slicks, I put on some smoothie 2 silvers, and that was a massive difference. It sticks to the track like velcro with them .
How come some cars have the rear shocks behind the rear wheels and some in front? Which is better?
I need to learn more about radio settings, expo etc, and more about speed controller settings
I know this is an old video but I like the work you did with this and mentioning the RB10. I grew up on rear motor cars, including the original RC10 and I prefer this format to the mid motor cars of today. Anyway, I do race my RB10 quite competitively and at least for my tracks I find the gear differential with heavier fluids works much better than the older ball diffs and they last longer too. I did upgrade the shocks to B6.4 shocks, upgraded the servo and radio but I have been running the 3200kv Reedy motor and SC that came stock and it’s been really good. Plus parts availability are great due to the shared platforms. Thanks
Nice! I have to get back to work on my rear motor stadium.
F!@#, plane down. Sorry man but I can relate and I laughed my a$$ off! I've said that before...
Lol thanks Adam!
Oh well... water you gunna do...
Not much, wasn't my plane. I returned it with a confident, "You gave it to me like that."
