The dealer basically traded a monster card that's done appreciating (greatly) for some really liquid junk that is easier to flip into cashflow with some of those cards having nice upside for growth. I don't blame either party for the deal. One is collecting. The other is selling. Makes sense for both.

I have a complete year of baseball cards from 1982. I bought them new in 1983. Are they worth anything? They are in mint condition. I know nothing about sports.

I watch these videos on cards and remember when I used to trade buy and sell. I was a card freak. I had thousands of cards and one day someone broke into the house and stole my whole collection. I was going to open a store. Lost interest after that.
