    i just saw this video on my feed i definitely think it’ll be difficult especially with time management with stuff like holidays, but if you can definitely find time it’s good even if it’s only an hour/ hour and a half, consistency and discipline is key, at least that’s how i’ve seen, i’ve started mine since september only had one week of set back but now back in it side note im trying to get to 150-155 LBS by the end of winter

    What if after a fat loss phase i gain 25 lbs in a month?... Can i lose the weight or will my body stop responding to a deficit like it does with competitors? I'm a beginner in nutrition so hopefully you have an answer 😊. Thanks

    Do you recommend weighing in everyday? I find its really mentally difficult to do because I'm constantly reminding myself to focus on fat loss instead of weight loss so I'm not sure if weighing in every morning is necessary

    • @joeythedietitian
      @joeythedietitian 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      GREAT question. Ultimately, you have to do what works best for you mentally. But once you’re past the beginner, and maybe intermediate stage of lifting / working out, the scale can be a useful tool in seeing if you’re actually losing fat or not. It’s less amount the specific number day to day, or even the average each week, but more about what the trend looks like over multiple weeks (3-4+ weeks). I prefer weighing at least 4-5 days a week and taking an average each week, that way you can look at the data and see the trends over multiple weeks time. Can you see great progress and just gauge it off of how you look through progress pics, or how you feel in your clothes? Definitely. But those are somewhat subjective ways to measure progress, and sometimes it helps having a little more of an objective tool to use in conjunction with those (aka the scale). You want to make sure you aren’t expecting it to go down every day or even every week. And simply look at it as something that can give you a CLUE as to where things are going over time, but not be the end all be all. I do recommend if you’re going to use the scale, use the method of multiple weigh ins each week and averages. And if you don’t do that, then probably just don’t use the scale at all unless just every few months to just “self check” to make sure things aren’t getting out of hand. But weighing yourself once a week is a big no no in my opinion.

It can be really challenging using the scale even the right way, which is why having a coach to talk you out of those mental spirals along the way can be super helpful.

    loved this video and content Joey! super informative. was curious to know what you’d advise for someone like me whom is now entering a deficit phase after being in a slight surplus for a couple months - and figuring out just how many calories to decrease initially to start a deficit given eating a higher calorie range to start with. read decreasing 500cals is a “good place to start” from maintenance cals but have also heard to a slower deficit approach is beneficial. Thoughts?

  • @StraightEdgeJunkie
    @StraightEdgeJunkie 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hey, nice content. I hope your channel grows. I actually do the same thing you talk about here: I log my protein and the junkie foods first (if I'm planning to have some) and that sort of allows the rest of the day to automatically just fall into place. It's similar to saving money, I feel: when you just automatically put X% of your money into a savings account, your behaviour changes with the rest of your monthly income in such a way that you sort of accept the money on your spending account is the money you have available for spending that month - even if you would theoretically have access to the money in the savings account, you just sort of forget it. At least that's how it's usually been for me and it's a little similar.

    • @joeythedietitian
      @joeythedietitian 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks so much for the comment and response! This is SUCH a good strategy (logging protein and fun snacks/etc ahead of time that way you can just simply fill in the remaining calories with everything else). And such a good analogy in terms of automatically putting a certain % of money into your savings. Genius.
