Not to be a stickler, but some of these dubs are from the 2000’s. DIC did sailor moon and sailor moon R. Beyond that the dub company changed. I was there during this.

Straight guy here. Lemme say this about that: Haruka' s always cool to me from age 11 via the Cloverway dubs and moreso now w/ the Viz dubs (both 90s and the Crystal/Eternal/Cosmos era)

90's dub is the best dub for Sailor Moon

Almost 75% of the comments for this video are "DIC/Cloverway dub VS. Viz dub" fights with no middle ground. And as noted under the Broken Base trope on TV Tropes regarding the English dubbing of Sailor Moon: "DIC/Cloverway vs Viz in general. The battle between fans of DiC versus the Viz Media sides of the fandom was a slow smolder for quite a while, but has flared up quite a bit in the New Twenties. Initially, there was relief and joy among the fandom when Viz Media took over the series back in 2014 with a full and faithful re-dub of the entire series with no censorship or edits, and with an All-Star Cast of voice actors, meaning there was going to be full experience of Sailor Moon finally in English. But as the years went on, attitudes towards the older dub started to shift and change, spawning a cult fanbase that was dedicated to preserving the DIC version, and these same fans started to get more vocal and asking for the old one to be re-distributed in some fashion (similar to what Funimation did with Dragon Ball Z's "Rock The Dragon" release) and there was the matchstick that set the fire ablaze. Viz fans and purists became confused and insulted as to why fans would want that "overly edited and bad" English dub back when they had the "definitive" Sailor Moon experience readily available, and went on the attack against the older dub again, bashing it at boards and cons and calling DiC fans nostalgia-obsessed loonies who can't let go of their childhoods, while DiC fans slam Viz fans for being boring purists and not letting others have any fun."

While not nearly as iconic as Terri Hawkes', Linda Ballantyne's Sailor Moon had a campy sense of fun to her portrayal.

I was NOT expecting a correct pronunciation of "Uranus" here, of all places.

Honestly, there are a lot of details in this dub I like. But calling Usagi Serena, Makoto Lita, etc (and other name switches) just sounds, well, wrong.

I love how in manga she actually looks both masculine and feminine at the same time and in anime they just changed that she has, or not, eyelashes

There is something unforgettable about the 90s dubs…even if they can be cheesy at times…Viz is fine but it replacing the originals as if they never existed is wrong

I remember once reading a lot of hate towards the DIC dub and am wondering if it’s just me, or has it kind of come around with people, if for no other reason the nostalgia factor. Straight up, I felt the voice acting was top notch, I prefer the music and as for the changes and cuts, you don’t miss what you never had, though I appreciate that the situations that resulted in the cuts were pretty disappointing. But Terri Hawkes? Katie Griffin? Susan Roman? Canadian legends, and the unique, powerful sounding voices were part of why I watched.
