Join me as I fish my way thru Northern California. I'm just your average fishermen enjoying my time on the water. I'll show you what baits work for me and how to use them. I will have some tournament content coming soon.
Scoping-ing Out the Catch
I've finally done it. I've purchased the lvs34 livescope. What a game changer. Today was all about getting used to it. I only caught four fish, but I did catch my personal best fish on Bullards @ 16 inches and 2.4 pounds. Can't wait to get out again and keep learning how to use the livescope. Thanks to @hankmccarrick990 for helping me install it, @jonesing4bass for listening to all my question about livescope and @JoeySilvaFishing for sending me a video over of your set up. That really helped with my install.

Bullard's is fighting back. With the water rising the fish are spreading out and getting tougher to find. It took me most of the day to find the fish. What weight do you throw on your c-rig?? Amazing video excited to head out there soon
Thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. I switch between two weight sizes. I use either a 1 oz barrel weight or a 3/4 oz barrel weight. I really like the 1oz weight because you can really feel the bottom, but if you have a bunch of chunk rock it's probably going to get stuck. The lake has really come a bunch, so the fishing has slowed down. It's a beautiful lake to explore.
@@jamesrobertsonfishing amazing, thank you keep up the videos !!
Do you have videos catching trout on accident
Thank you for sharing. Great video, love watching them. We had a tournament out there last week and ended up with 11.05 lbs and finished 4h.
Thanks for watching! 11 pounds is a good bag for out there congrats. The lakes been fishing tough lately.
Nice! 👍👍👍
Which pole system are you using
Fishing solution. Very simple and works great. Other options to consider is the Redone Sonar Pole and Sinper pole.
Nice. I too, just purchased FFS but have yet to try it out. Time to get out on the water
Thank you for watching! It's going blow your mind. It was so interesting to see what I had been missing all these years. What I thought were fish on my 2D weren't even fish...lol I'm learning every time I use it. Make sure to watch a few TH-cam videos on settings. If that is not set up right, you'll just have a harder time seeing things.
Nice video! Did you make your seat yourself?
Thanks for watching Ron. I didn't make my seat. Hank the other person in my video did. I met a guy on the lake that had an oldtown and he mentioned his friend built a swivel seat for his. I got some photos from him and then Hank and came up with the design and Hank built it. If you want some photos or more information on the seat, send me a DM on IG at @james.robertson.3133 and I'd be glad to do that. It's so nice to be able to turn around in the seat.
The belly is fat is because it’s probably full of Kokanee! Great job! 👍👍👍
Hello. Question, on those a-rig, how many hooks can you have on? is it 3?
It depends on where you live. Here in California, you can only have three hooks.
@@jamesrobertsonfishing Thank you so much
Guess I gotta make sure my makeup is done when I know I'm going to be in camera.... That day was ROUGH!!
Nicely done! Got on some quality fish. I want to give that place a try. I always hear good things. New SUBSCRIBER! 😎
Thanks for watching and the sub. It's a beautiful lake, if don't you don't catch anything at least you can enjoy the view.
Lovely area
Lake oroville was pretty good today actually.
Nice video great lake just don't eat the Black bass.
Thanks for watching. I haven't eaten any, but is there something in the water that would be bad for you?
@@jamesrobertsonfishing High levels of Mercury from gold miners hydraulic mining in the late 1800 hundreds.
That makes sense. I tell you what, I'd eat them out of here before I ate anything out of Clearlake...lol
@@jamesrobertsonfishing Ha....As much as I love fishing Clear Lake....I don't even like touching those fish, much less eating one of them.
@davegwiazdon8450 Honesty, I don't even like putting my feet in it. Every time I see people swimming or tubing in that water I'm thinking thier nuts.
Bullard's Bar is my favorite lake within an hours drive of my house. I'll probably be out there next weekend. So it's nice to see you hook'n them. Couple of summers ago, my son and I were trolling for Kokanee before starting our bass fishing. He had a line at about 70 feet deep and pulled up an 8 inch spotty that was entirely pink. I mean the entire fish was pink. I had never seen anything like it...before or since. That is until you caught that first one with a pink top half. First time watching your videos and I enjoyed it! Thanks and tight lines in 2025!
Thanks for watching, and I'm glad you enjoyed the content. It's possible the fish I caught came up from the depths, and that's why it had that pink color. It was definitely interesting, and I had never seen anything like that before. If you ever see me out there, say hi.
Mercury poisoning
@@jamesrobertsonfishing I definitely will. I cruise around in a 14 foot Spectrum, with some wood gear storage lockers on the bask. So please shout out if you see me as well.
I have to get more comfortable throw the ole c-rig. New video!
I can do that and give everyone the juice. Damon taught me, so if Damon does it, so well I...lol
First time going there on NYE. Launched off Dark Day. I’m with you, I have to go back. It was good fishing for sure. Jackhammer on purple trailer, compact jig, weighted fluke got the job done.
@JoKenFujitsu trying launching at the dam sometime. That part of the lake is completely different from the dark day side. More rock and steeper walls.
Have you ever caught a trout while bass fishing on video- greetings from korea
Thanks for watching. No, I haven't caught a trout while bass fishing.
Awesome catch 👍👍 what size weight were you using on your DropShot?
Not 100% sure but either 3/16 oz or 1/4 oz. Thanks for watching!
@ thank you and your welcome
Man that lake looks like it's about 20-30 feet lower than when the YAB event was there this year. I launched from Lime Saddle for that event.
The lake has come up a ton from a few weeks ago. Probably 30 to 40 feet. Hopefully, with all this incoming rain, the walk down to the ramp won't be so bad...🤣
Purple jig to the rescue haha 😂
Thanks for watching!
Looks like a fun day out on the water, haven't made it up to Lime Saddle yet.
The lime saddle side of the lake is similar to the middle fork, but with less rock walls. When the water is high you can go all the way back to where the river flows in by Paradise.
Killer day out there James! Digging the Teal Bend beanie too 😆🏌♂⛳
Great video James! Got on a nice lil a-rig bite I see!
That’s beautiful!!
My first tournament up there I only caught one dink. The guys that won had over 40lbs of spots.
40 lbs of spots?🤯 They knew where the honey hole was.
@jamesrobertsonfishing It was nearly 10 years ago. The glory days. I saw them catch one. It was in 70ft of water. My partner caught a 6lb that day.
Awesome lake, I was just there yesterday the lake has gone up like 9-10 feet. Broke one good one off and had like a few 1-3lbrs.
Did you have to go through an expectation to launch your kayak? I've heard it's more difficult to launch at Berry now due to the Golden Mussel.
@ had the boat decontamination done and then launch right after that.
@fishwhisperer916 I'm guessing that since boats need to go through the decontamination process, there weren't many people on the lake. That's good for you. Did they put a sticker on your boat and trailer at the end of the day so you could go back again without decontamination again?
@ very few boats out there and no stickers just a green tag with a wire locking the boat and the trailer together.
The girths on those fish are incredible!!! Last week I caught one while Kokanee fishing and the spotted coughed off a 5-inch Kokanee! Amazing memory!!! Have a great day! 👍👍👍
I saw your video. Couldn't believe that. That's prof Bullards is heading in the right direction. Thanks for watching.
Nice day on the water. Thanks for sharing. 🤙😎💪🎣
You're welcome, and thanks for watching and subscribing.
@ 😎🤙
Think u need to clean ur reel 😂
Agree. I'd do it myself, but I'm afraid I'll lose parts...lol
Damn you done good. Its such a difficult spot
Thanks for watching. It can be a difficult place to fish, but on those days, their biting it awesome.
Never fished there, but looks like a mini version of the Delta. You can never trust the weatherman 🤣
Yes, it is a mini delta. Everything looks good, and the fish are hard to find.
James what launch is that? Putah? Good video. I’m going to call you the Safari Master because you’re catching big cats. That fish was a doozy.
That was Spanish Flat. That was a heck of a fight. I was really hoping it was a bass, but I knew it wasn't .
Hell of a Catfish! I caught one of those Squawfish that had to be 10 plus pounds, fought like hell, and of course I was having GoPro issues that day and didn't get it on camera.
Those GoPros can be a pain butt. They seem to shut off for no reason all the time. I've gotten home before and thought I had some great footage, and the camera shut off.🤬
I think that's a lg
Yup it is. I called it a spot when I caught it because I've never seen a largie in this lake before. Going back and looking at pictures its definingly largemouth. Thanks for watching.
NOICE!!
Big fish out of Rollins! Nice work!
Thanks 👍
Mistakes always hurt more in a tournament. At least you managed a limit. I always seem to struggle to get that 5th one in tournaments on the Delta. Catch a million 6 inchers though.
Happens to everyone James. Head up, onto the next!
I don’t fish the delta much but I think Rivers End is a pretty popular spot.
Wish I would of know that...lol
For some reason Tower is never a quality area. I’ve fished that area a lot and have only gotten quantity. I do like the facility tho. It’s my go-to spot whenever I fish by myself on the delta and I want to launch way early in the morning. It’s the safest one. Did you happen to hit Devils Isle?
Now you tell me this...lol. I tried out Hollands and B&W, but that area had even smaller fish caught. Tower was the only place I found fish over 12 inches. Most of the group launched out of rivers end. I didn't get that memo. I'm not sure where Devils Island is. If it's north of Tower Park, then yes. I didn't go south because I've fished that before and have never had any luck that way. Thanks for watching, and I appreciate the comment.
Turn your music off, so we can hear you
When I was editing this, it didn't seem that loud. I went back and watched it, and it's much louder than expected. I'll keep an eye on that in editing. Thanks for letting me know.
I have also been killing it out there now the secrets out lol
Not that many people watch this, so your secret is safe.
go James
Thanks Buddy!
Such a pretty lake! I gotta go there eventually.
It's just like Oroville but with bigger fish. Get out there before they let boats back on it or fish it in the winter.
Great day out on the ab James! 🤙🏼
Thanks! It was a fun day. I'll be glad when their done working on the diversion dams so we can get some stable water levels
I just went up to Lime Saddle, yesterday (headed north). And it doesn’t look like this at all. Water has gone down a ton I’m guessing? (Also, it’s my first time there)
The water has definitely dropped. Probably 50 feet or more since I filmed this. Did you catch anything?
New Melones was supposed to be epic like this!!
Totally agree!
Man it's nice out there wish I was out there!
6.8?!? 😮 Man I wish I fished docks. Some of the guys that went with me find some success fishing docks. Didn’t catch a single fish til the day after tournament when I started fishing docks. U caught some GIANTS!!
Day after tournament? No one told me about that...lol For the past 3 years, I've caught my PB on clearlake. I'm planning on catching a 7.5 next year...😆
