What Makes A Good Ending?
Movies and TV shows have a lot of power over their audiences so I wanted to dissect how shows like Game of Thrones, Bojack Horseman, Attack on Titan and Violet Evergarden constructed controversial endings that people love to hate. Let's take a closer look at a character from each show and see why the direction each story chose can feel good for some viewers and awful for others!

Palworld and the Optics of AI

Palworld is an open-world, multiplayer survival game with a twist: it allows players to experience a world like Pokémon with no rules, meaning players can choose whether to follow the straight and narrow path or fall into absolute depravity. But does this game even contain AI assets? Why are creators being scorned for playing, and are the main critiques of the game even valid in the first place...

    From my perspective I always thought that by the end of the series Gilbert was more broken then Violet. So the ending implied that Violet with her new self worth and actualization can go on to help Gilbert heal and grow in the way that he once gave her life meaning and purpose she can now give him a similar outlook on life. I do understand what you're saying about finding him ending up under minding all of Violets work but I choose to think it was more poetic in the sense that it repeats the love and support that they both show one another. Gilberts actions were in the wrong (hiding away from his life) but that was the point, now it's Violet that can teach him to love and find purpose after the war. Teach him in the same way he had once taught her.

    Eren becoming a monster , is a theme that was there, mikasa and love not, ther was no building her up more than a sister, And eren wasnt let die as monster, of his own stubernness, the whole futire bit, and sees everything and prosoner, him owning up that it was his own narrowminded stubernness to see no other way was the way and ehy eren should up ended. Ther needed to be a lane picked andd stick with it, which is shown by even the author mentioned how he was confused and couldnt? Ok same thing with JJK ending, the most disapointing is to have an ending undoing all the edgy final fight and making it entirely pointless, because all the dead, arent dead , suddenly, undoing even all the edge that it had at least, betraying even that. Why? That edge was something that was left and, nope nothing means anymore not even fun wit hedgy sukuna. People die if they are killed, well apearently not. And mikasa had literally nothing to do with that, armin did.

    The one thing that I personally'd like to point out is that to me the ending was more about Violet being able to express herself and let her feelings be heard and how that impacts others around her. I don't think that all her development was wasted. I think she went for what she desired the most and acted to make it happen. Something she wouldn't had even dreamt of doing before...

    • @SaikoSloth
      @SaikoSloth 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That’s something I didn’t consider much but you’re definitely right! She never would’ve had the courage to write the letter at the end if not for all those years learning to express herself

    I agree the ending is kind of stupid. I guess the theme about the ending was Gilbert trying to be the righteous failed martyr, and since he failed to be the martyr, he reduced into this shell of a person he was. I like to think the movie WANTS to reflects on Episode 8 where Violet was in the same position as he is in the movie. While in episode 8, Violet needed to realize that society accepts her and forgives her. And then in the movie Violet is now able to take the role is as Society (I guess?) and is able to forgive Gilbert. The ending was really dumb, but a lot of the show's main movers unfortunately died in that Kyoto bombing while back, so it's unfortunate circumstances that resulted in this mess. Also I have a couple of gripes with this show of trying to justify the romance between Violet and Gilbert in that one episode with the princess where Violet "justifies a 14 year old with a 21 year old" Oh my god, and now the show runners are trying to fix it by doing the worse exposition possible by (she's 18 now). I don't know what the fix would have been but the entire romance is just so icky.

    • @asianchopsticks5048
      @asianchopsticks5048 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Im not saying it's a bad anime, but come on bro, I feel like they should have just moved away from the romance at this point and describe it more of girlish dream, like 12 year old girls had crushes on Tom Holland, and gone with something realistic, like Leo from that observatory episode.

    For the life of me I don’t know why Gilbert is alive. Like the whole fucking show wasn’t explicitly about her development in his absence

    • @iris_flo_wer
      @iris_flo_wer 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yea. We seen Violet develop herself in his absence and learning to let go of the past and move on. But seeing how Gilbert is alive and cause of him she gives up her job, she doesn't have character growth. I mean I'm happy that she got her "happy ending" but giving up everything you've built cause of a man... It's kinda wrong ngl

    10:25 Eren has always been like that tho, his way to solve a problem is to kill all his enemies. First the titan, then the people outside the walls then the ones on the other side of the sea and finally the entire world. If anything he's a very consistent character. It just that people don't like feeling conflicted and having their beliefs challenged. Also he doesn't "feel obligated" to the rumbling: it's inevitable. That what's breaks him. He will even try to change that future but he will fail. Because of that later on he will accept this as the only possible outcome so he becomes more resolute with his actions.

    I think these days TH-cam ad revenue can't be your monetization endgame - you need to focus around a business you're creating or something else to more deeply engage with the viewer

  • @graymads
    @graymads 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Content creators would be much better if all these platforms focused on what made them successful rather than being a one stop shop. If you are going to TH-cam for short vertical content I think you are going to the wrong place. Tik Tok already existed, and before it so did Vine, they are very different beasts. Both in terms of the viewers and their mindsets, as well as the creators and their approaches. They are very different worlds in terms of content. Its the same idea as judging an FPS on the merits of a Platformer, both are still video games, but they are very different in how they play, the way you are meant to interface with them, and especially in target audience. Even if crossover still exists. Maybe I am just a boomer, but I think many of these companies need to harken back to their past. Rather than trying to be one stop shops and each creating half assed and at times horrible spaces to both create and consume content. They should focus on being the best spaces with the best tools and avenues like they did 10 years ago. In an ecosystem like this you could pick and choose as both a creator and consumer what content you wanted to interface with. If you didn't care about picture content you could just no use Instagram, if you like short form you could just use vine, if you preferred just blog posts and long form video you could use youtube and tumblr, if you liked any combination of them you could just use the ones you wanted. It made it better for viewers but also creatives since most creators probably have no interest in the massive upkeep or workload of trying to juggle all these different mediums and platforms. But than again, maybe I am just stuck in the past lol.

    super insightful video, thank you for sharing!! as a viewer of long form videos, this has inspired me to interact more directly with the work I enjoy. one of the best things we can do for creators is show our appreciation for their work. i think especially if we want to see more passionate creators who aren’t primarily creating for financial reasons, this is a must.

    This is why I’ve gravitated toward longer format and video essay content from smaller sized channels. I can feel much more intellectually engaged with the content, and better understand the topic and subjects, without feeling like I’m receiving a watered down product. I get the feeling like the larger a channel gets, the more information gets discarded, and the more detached from their viewer the creator becomes. Again, this is probably because I’m an over-explainer who loves nitty gritty details, and who gets anxious from having too much varied information thrown at me all at once.

It's not uncommon to hear my friends are sitting in bed for hours on TikTok now. Long form is not only good for the creators, but for the consumers.

    It seems like the only objectively good option to make a living is by selling arts/goods. Regular 9-5 day jobs are the objectively worst kind of way to make money, but content creation used to be the ultimate way to escape from it. I used to view TH-cam as my escape from the “prison”. But after creating for more than 10 years now, I don’t think it will ever be a possibility anymore. Nowadays, content creation have become a rat race, just another form of 9-5, where you’re expected to speak, create, and act a certain way, otherwise you’ll be replaced. But I’d say still try to create regardless of what the algorithm says. Yes, it might take a eons to get to a position where you could pay your bills but it’s certainly much better than passively working and hoping that your meaningless office job is gonna take you anywhere. True financial freedom is impossible to achieve these days anyway unless you’re extremely lucky or talented, so might as well just try everything. I’ve seen multiple creators who quit their day jobs after creating “off meta” content for a few years and finally be able to live happily. It sucks that not everyone’s gonna make it, meaning that some of us might have to live paycheck to paycheck doing 9-5s forever, but I’d rather try. Tl;dr yes, being a content creator sucks today, but it’s still infinitely better than having a normal job. Keep on creating and quit as soon as you can.
