Hi I have doubt when it comes to determine the weight of the counterweight based on the opposite weight may be elevator.. So what are the parameters to know for the calculation of the counterweight..?
It all starts with the weight of the car. This is calculated by the designers and builders of that car. It will be only an estimate because it’s virtually impossible to know the weight of every detail that gets put in when it’s being built. However, it will be pretty close and good enough for all practical purposes such as load on the machine and building etc. The counterweight is then the weight of the car plus a percentage of the maximum load that the car can carry. The engineer installing the lift doesn’t need to know the actual weight of either. They just load up the counterweight to balance the car and that percentage.
6:23 Pardon me but isn't θ the angle formed with the *horizontal* axis?
Hey man, shouldn't it be Wel+Wcw in your formula? I'm a bit confused why on the left side you use "minus" and on the right side it is a "plus"
We will use minus because difference in weights causes acceleration.
