Olive Magic Tinsel Chironomid Fly Tying Tutorial
This video is a step-by-step tutorial for the Olive Magic Tinsel Chironomid.
Magic Tinsel is produced by Textreme and is a material that is new to me. I put it to the test here in this chironomid pattern and I must say I am happy with the results. This will definitely find its way in my fly box this upcoming Stillwater season.
To complete the fly, I cover the Magic Tinsel with a strand of Forest Green Frost Bite. This really helps give the fly a gassy translucence which is really brought out when the Solarez Bone Dry UV resin is applied. You can tie this pattern without the Frost Bite as well and the pattern will have a more pronounced metallic pearl sheen.
I will definitely be playing around with bead and rib colour variations and I can see a copper rib working very well on this fly too.

FTB Bunny Leech Fly Tying Tutorial
มุมมอง 6923 ปีที่แล้ว
This video is a step-by-step tutorial for the Fly Tyer’s Bench (FTB) Bunny Leech. This leech pattern throws some serious attractor vibes with the addition of the hot orange bead and the blending of Hareline Ice Dub. It is no secret that two of my favourite materials are rabbit and Ice Dub. This pattern is comprised of both with the use of Hareline Micro Rabbit strips for the zonker-style tail, ...
Sparkle Baetis Fly Tying Tutorial
มุมมอง 5003 ปีที่แล้ว
This video is a step-by-step tutorial for the Sparkle Baetis. This is my variation of a Callibaetis Mayfly Nymph I updated with the Textreme Magic Tinsel. This product is proving itself quite versatile and can be used as a flat tinsel or pulled gently to become more of a thinner round hollow tube. In addition to using Magic Tinsel for the rib, I used a piece of slightly larger tan Magic Tinsel ...
Tapered Green ASB Chironomid Fly Tying Tutorial
มุมมอง 1.5K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This video is a step-by-step tutorial for a chironomid I did particularly well on in the early spring this year in the BC Interior. This pattern is fairly simplistic and features a two-toned blended thread body with an inverted style rib created by wrapping a strip of anti-static bag (ASB) material to give it both a segmented and gassy appearance. I generally tie this in a size 12 through 18 an...
The Dirty Worm Chironomid Fly Tying Tutorial
มุมมอง 2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
A step-by-step fly tying tutorial for a versatile pattern that is a little bit bloodworm and a little bit chironomid pupae. In this video you will learn how to tie the Dirty Worm, a pattern I tend to resort to during late spring and early fall chironomid emergences. As you will start to notice, I have somewhat of an obsession with using a layer of Frost Bite in most of my chironomid patterns. I...
Rolled Muddler Fly Tying Tutorial
มุมมอง 1.5K3 ปีที่แล้ว
A step-by-step fly tying tutorial for the Rolled Muddler. This pattern can be tied in a variety of colours, but I find that olive and natural deer hair colours are the most productive. Originally tied for Cutthroat Trout fishing by by BC fly tyer Tom Murray, this pattern is versatile, works for various species and imitates a Sculpin, baitfish or salmon fry. I almost always tie this fly with a b...
Root Beer Float Chironomid Fly Tying Tutorial
มุมมอง 4.6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
A step-by-step fly tying tutorial for one of my most productive stillwater Chironomid fly patterns. In this video you will learn how to tie the Root Beer Float Chironomid. This is a staple in my fly box and my go to pattern on most days. The white bead helps the fly stick out in particularly muddy waters or lakes with lots of suspended debris. Being mindful of your wraps and taking time to buil...
The BULLet Fly Tying Tutorial
มุมมอง 1204 ปีที่แล้ว
A step-by-step instructional video on tying one of my most productive bull trout and big fish patterns. A word of warning, do not worry about the oddly bent hook in the vice, the barb is cut off after tying in favour of a trailing hook that can be replaced if needed. Music: "Selflessly" by Toby Tranter www.epidemicsound.com/track/CfimWFCiPY My playlist of favourite fly tying tunes can be found ...
