Reining Fish with Walt
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 9 ม.ค. 2020
I mostly kayak fish in and around Virginia Beach, VA and I take pictures and videos of other random things too.
I currently fish out of a 2021 Hobie Outback, and I’ll fish in any body of water, but only really started fishing salt water about 4 or 5 years ago. I love sharing knowledge with others on how to catch fish so I figured I’d take a shot at the ‘Tube.
I’m certainly not a know-it-all and fully understand that I have a lot to learn, so I look forward to hearing any feedback you have!
I hope yall enjoy my videos and maybe learn something from them.
I’m also on Instagram, @reining_fish
Cheers

Do you think this is possible with only a paddle kayak, not a pedal drive?
it’s possible, i’ve seen people under Lesner with paddle kayaks. wind and tidal coefficient will play a role, but if you are not a solid paddler, just know that the currents under that bridge can be really strong and dangerous.
Probably the best yak net on the market right now but would like to know what rod holder you are using
love that net. the rod holder is the Scotty Rodmaster II and i have it in the Scotty Track Adapter Gear-Head
turned into a dancing, infected, swollen clitoris 😑
Why did this gross me out wtf
hahaha idk sorry man! i thought it was cool 😅
but don’t watch my other caterpillar video then, that one was worse on the gross scale 😂😂
Wow
Hey man, recently got pedal kayak and tried the cbbt south side with not so much luck. I would love to join you one day and learn from you.
@nelrepublic hey man, do you have IG? hit me up @reining_fish! i might be going thursday!
no butterfly
butterfly will emerge from this in a week or so, and i’m going to try to catch that as well but that is a lot more difficult to know when it’s going to happen so fingers crossed
Was a little violent for a bit
yeah, right after dropping the caterpillar skin it definitely wiggled around a bunch. where this vid ended is where my phone reached storage capacity so i missed the drying out process where it ends up looking like a little Christmas ornament. pretty cool to see.
Strange from another planet.....
Aliens exist!
ya it was wild to watch.
@@Reining_Fish I bet and amazing....
When using shrimp, how do you prevent spot and croaker from hitting it? Wherever I use shrimp as soon as it hits the water it's gone within sixty seconds from all the small fish
ya man, unfortunately there isn’t really a “trick” to it, other than getting it out of there when you feel the little taps. sometimes when i’m vertical jigging like this, i’ll refrain from letting it get to the bottom if it’s really bad like that. i don’t remember when exactly i shot this video, i want to say it was april or may, but i usually stay away from shrimp in the summer months because of that problem. when the little bait stealers show up, i usually switch over to sand fleas and try to use the biggest ones i can find. that tends to help but they still pick at them.
How do you judge the water condition or weather before you go Kayak Fishing ? I'm in the Richmond area thinking trying to kayak fish at Lynnhaven Inlet and Rudee inlet.
i check weather through a couple different apps. i use Windy, the Weather Channel app, and then a few different tide apps just to have a good idea of what the tides will be doing. but the vb area weather is tough to gauge because it can change pretty quickly
We have a little nest on our wreath too! How did you keep them from being disturbed and from getting your door dirty? Also how long were they on your door?
we actually didn’t use that door very often so they stayed undisturbed. we also did not find any way to keep the door from being dirty, and they were there for about a month and a half i think. sorry i didn’t have better answers for ya 😂 but they were very cute 🙂
@@Reining_Fish thank you so much for getting back to me! That's a long time, but sounds worth it especially since they were so cute. Thank you again. God bless you!
What the hell is that aggravating background noise.
not sure what noise you’re referring to, the bridge noise?
Why don’t u keep them and eat them?
i keep fish sometimes, but i wasn’t fishing to keep today. just holding meet and greets 😂🤙🏼🤙🏼
Mark wahlbergs twin
LOL i can not tell you how many people have told me that over the years. i don’t see it! 😂
@@Reining_Fish same face! Also kinda look like Johnny knoxville
lol hey man, i’ll take it 😂
I love how you thanked the fish 🤣🥰
lol ya, i imagine i inconvenienced him a little bit. i just wanna respect his time 😂
Hell yeah man, awesome catch and great attitude!
Little Finches! This video should have more views LOL
they were fun to have for the spring.
Trying to plan a trip here when it gets warmer. When was this filmed? Is there a better month to go than others?
i think i shot this in june or july. the transient reds start showing up in mid-late april, depending on how warm the water is. this winter has been mild so we are expecting those fish to show up earlier this year, but there are local fish that stay throughout the year as well. they are just more difficult to catch in the winter because they aren’t as active.
Typically, how deep did you drop the bottom sweeper?
for drum, all the way.. when i fish for sheep, i start at about 3ft, and work my way down in 3-5ft increments. when i’m fishing on the bottom around bridge pilings, or around structure, i just make sure not to let it roll around down there because it’ll get rolled up under the structure.
@@Reining_Fish - Awesome and thank you
Thats Awesome!!
never seen a toad that big.
Just moved up to the area from Pensacola! Would love to join ya and learn the lay the land!
let’s go!
What rod holder do you have your landing net in?
i keep my net in a Scotty Rodmaster II. the little notch helps keep the net at the angle i want all the time.
Truth!!
Classic! love doin that!!
Dude you are killing it with these videos! Love it. Keep it up!
Awesome I’m local and fish the Lynnhaven every Friday might see you out there
i’m always lookin for others to fish with jason. hope to see you out there man 🤙🏼
Congrats walt, u just got you self another subscriber!!-sim
Isn't rudee better though? Yea, Lynnhaven has its perks but the big cows lurk around Rudee, and they even have Cobias!
