@@asrvlogs8828 Hey! Thanks for reaching out, great question. So being an apprentice is the First stages of becoming a mechanic. You ultimately need to find a place hiring for apprentices. Meaning knocking on doors with resumes or applying online. Once hired they usually see how you work for 6 months to a year, then if all is going well they call in the Ontario Trades people, they register you, give you the trades book and you're now a registered 310s apprentice and can register for schooling. @asrvlogs8828 you can technically be an apprentice for life, you have the apprenticeship annual fee you pay the skill trades Ontario people, and you just don't register for school. Problem is your pay goes up with your years completed at school. Which means you're going to be stuck closer to minimum wage for all you're doing at most garages, and many places don't want an apprentice for life as they pay some fees for having you as an apprentice if I recall correctly.

@@jimmyjames7683 i found the test pretty challenging, a lot of tech a tech B style questions, and many potentially correct answers. When I was in 3rd year we got a study book with our text book. I just did that book over and over until I got perfect on every go and read through my entire text book. I passed on the first try, but I found it challenging for sure. Hope that helps!

@@jimmyjames7683 i took my exam in 2015, there were no diagrams, or pictures of any kind. It was all word questions with multiple guess.

@@orangebanana7129 Hey, best of luck with your career change! Starting off with any sort of pre-apprenticeship would be huge since you don't have much experience. TH-cam is also a wealth of info for understanding cars. I'd recommend the old Donut media videos(science garage). I use them in my class for explaining stuff. Great content for learning. @@chairwhoaman2877 they would be a great starter set! If you wanted a bit better, the foam insert kit from maximum is amazing for the price. I run them in my class and they rival my Matco tools stuff from when I was in the trade

@@cyclop41 hey, thanks for reaching out. Best options if you don't have any trade experience is a pre apprenticeship program. Not of trade schools offer this as a way to get experience in the trade. If you have experience, it's just up to applying at dealerships or shops to start your apprenticeship. You'll probably be oil change and tire guy for a bit, but usually year 2 most garages start allowing you to do more. Also for understanding how stuff works, youtube is an awesome resource, donut media has an old series called science garage, amazing content for learning, I use them in my classroom.
