The Northwest Passage was amazing, but my journey to success wasn't linear. I learned about resilience by going through adversity before I'd take a stroke in the Arctic and it was vital to our success. I always open my talks with this story, to be honest with the audience, and because it was a very funny series of misadventures.

Hiking in Scotland | Highlands on a rainy day | Knoydart

A pal and I hiked from Inverie to the Munro Meall Buidhe. The promise of epic views across one of Scotland's most remote regions was dashed by the weather. Instead, I had a rewarding time navigating off the path by compass. We descended via a small ridge then followed a steep stream. Even when it's wet, it's always a great day! Hiking Scotland's most remote Munro | Embarrassing helicopter visit
มุมมอง 746ปีที่แล้ว
My pal James and I hiked up Ladhar Bheinn on Knoydart, considered Scotland's most remote Munro. There's no roads on the peninsular. Most people walk in to Barrisdale or get a ferry. We kayaked to the base. At the end of the day, we kayaked along the Loch to find a place to camp with less midges. We had an unexpected visit from the Coast Guard and the RNLI. A few days later, I went into their of...

My friend James and I kayaked from the Applecross Peninsular to Loch Hourn. We had a wonderful day, seeing deer, sea eagles and lovely views. THE MIDGES WERE TERRIBLE! When we arrived at Barrisdale there were swarms of them. I've had bad swarms of midges many times, but never like this. It was awful. Midges are small bugs, like mini-mosquitos. Their bite isn't bad, but they make up for it in vo...
AMAZING seal encounters | Kayaking West Coast of Scotland | 4k Drone

In the summer of 2022, I kayaked along the West Coast of Scotland for two weeks with friends, and did some hiking along the way. This was one of the best days. It was clear and sunny. The water was like glass, so we could see as all the curious seals came to check us out. My pal Jack paddled around with them for ages and I managed to capture it on drone. We also came across an enormous beached ...

    It's the stories that make you an adventurer. It doesn't matter where you go or what you do as long as you come back with stories ;) I was paddling off the arse end of Bernera Beag a while back and stopped briefly with a very awkward landing to explore a cave. After a short while back in the water I heard a helicopter approaching from the other side of the island. Eventually the Stornoway coastguard helicopter came over the top and hovered above me with a guy leaning out, staring at me for a good thirty seconds. I was convinced I must have accidentally set off my PLB when I was fannying about in the cave and was hurriedly trying to formulate a decent excuse. Thankfully they must have been looking for somebody else and they buggered off shortly afterwards. Strangely the same helicopter flew right over the top of me the next day just as I arrived in my own village, hundreds of miles away on the north coast of the mainland. They weren't looking for me that time either! 😂 Great video. Keep up the good work.

    Great film, lovely watch. I'm with you on the company versus solitude. Have only just the past couple of years started to adventure solo and be okay with my own company and it's took some getting used to. I always reach a point where I wish there was someone to share the experience with, but on the flip side there is a bigger sense of achievement after an adventure alone.

    Well that didnt take long...30 mins of research which Guinness are obviously incapable of, tells me the Inuit discovered The North West Passage by kayak, although there journeys were undocumented, they were certainly paddling around 100s of years ago. So Im afraid Im correct that this record claim cannot be verified.....time we showed some respect towards indigenous people, before "blowing our own trumpet".

    • @adam_riley
      @adam_riley ปีที่แล้ว

      The guy spent 3 months in the wilderness a paddled 1500+ miles I think he deserves to blow his trumpet a little. It is a sad person who belittles the achievements of others.

    Nope Mark Agnew Mark Agnew ...yes we got that I think, are you Mark Agnew ? Cant beat a bit of self importance. Pretty sure the locals beat you to it years ago, but lets ignore the history and to hell with research as the white man kisses his own ass. No doubt "judged" by Guinness, the same people who officiate over how many sausages some can eat in a minute. Sorry, not convinced this is a legit claim.
