Came here after hearing the news that Wave 89.1 officially signed off the air after 23 years. Metro Manila's only home for Hip-Hop, R&B, and hits bade farewell to its listeners as the station was being sold to Adventist Media, the media arm of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and reformatted into a Religious Radio format as Adventist World Radio Manila 89.1, which is currently under test broadcast and slated to launch on April 24, 2024. Wave 89.1 was launched on March 1, 2001 after The Vera Group under Blockbuster Broadcasting System acquired the former DZMZ-FM from the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) and changed its callsign to DWAV. The station was launched under a Urban AC format, playing mostly soft and smooth R&B hits. It was also the home of the longest-running Filipino radio program "Love Notes," hosted by Ronaldo Sult (a.k.a. Joe D'Mango). In 2007, the station shifted to Urban Contemporary, playing mostly Hip-Hop and R&B hits. Wave 89.1 was one of the five original radio stations owned by The Vera Group under Tiger 22 Media Corporation. With Wave 89.1 going off the air and 103.5 K-Lite being acquired by the Villar family, The Vera Group is left with three radio stations: Jam 88.3, Magic 89.9 and 99.5 Play FM.
