Shame the footage ended just as you we're about to fly over my house , 3 years on and still no progress
I lived in Portbury in the 1970's. Trains regularly ran to Portishead, carrying coal for the power station.
❤❤❤👍👍👍
Bill and Ben rescue Pip and Emma
Now we KNOW how they're going to run the Harry Potter train in Scotland 🏴!!!
Well done skipper and Syd Hook ❤😊xx
The bridge at 07:45 could tell some tails. A few Pill boys have taken cars off of that! The last bad one was a local lad, I sold him the car 2 months earlier… he came off the road and hit a tree meters in the air which spun the car around 180 and it landed on the railway tracks. All 3 got out but the driver smashed the steering wheel up against the dials with his face! Then my mate took his Astra off the other side a few years after! The mark on the tree was still visible up until a few years back and this happened in the mid to late 90s
Great video i see this train pass my house every day
Great video. But how does the line get under the M5?
Much further down, it rejoins a still be used freight line and then it goes under the Avonmouth bridge for the M5
If you look at the video at 06:32 the M5 is directly behind where the drone is flying. It’s a large box tunnel.
Well for once the twins actually do something that is not cheeky or silly!
It does make you wonder whether this line was intended to be closed permanently or just mothballed. Most lines, after closure in the 60s, were ripped up within a couple of years, but 90% of the infrastructure is still there!
agreed - clevedon was pulled up and that's the next town
Those little steamers are a LOT stronger than they look. People tend to overlook them until they remember what kind of work they were designed to do.
Bill And Ben
very impressive!
Impressive!
Very nice video!
Yes
I live near there so have been in and out of the estuary mouth in my kayak quite few time we were coming out one day when one of this came in Christ they look big when your in a tiny little kayak LOL
Thanks for the video Very interesting to watch, great subject and good perspectives with the drone. How much was the video sped up?
That was amazing to watch, thank you so much for posting!
Used to work for a firm called Bibby's at Dunball on the River Parrot in Somerset, the grain boat used to turn by driving the nose into the mud bank, then let the current drag it round before reversing out to moor up at the wharf. First time I saw it, I ran off to tell the manager it had crashed. 😁
very cool-Thanks
Well done to the pilot ship 👍👍
the ships rudder is really important, this ship has a very good rudder and someone who KNOWS how to maneuver a ship at the controls
Superb skipper..wheelsman.
I spoke with the skipper of a Great Lakes ore carrier. He pointed out that skippers on the lakes routinely manoeuvre their vessels without help from pilots or tugs. This includes entering the Sault Locks, a very tight fit for the 1000' ship.
Came in hot and maneuvered like boss. the captain/pilot has has done that before. Trusters make it easier.
Try doing that without thrusters...
Well done, very skillful captain!
Had a wave hit the window on more than one occasion going through there.
Not quite as tight as the title shot indicates.
Thank god for bow thrusters!
How would Thomas react to this? A Steam Train small as Bill or Ben Pulling a Big High Speed Train
Nothing difficult, thrusters and electric help right left and centre. My blind three legged cat could have done it at least as well .....
Great video
Anazing seamanship.
turned on a tanner, seeing is believing
Beautiful shot! My Mother used to live in Teignmouth and my parents were married in the Church on the seafront so so had many plenty of happy holidays as a youngster staying with grandparents and relatives. To Masters Orders and Pilots Advise. Nicely done in a tight berth.
Thrusters working well. Great job. What size and cargo? I assume the pilot was not on the phone for an hour complaining about the last port, like somewhere further west?

That’s why skippers get paid the big bucks!
Tasty bit of steering that, particularly the handbrake turn atbthe end.
Nice. Machines are made to be operated. Thank you.
bulk carrier with bowthruster....
Very interesting. Looks kind of similar to the way the ships manoeuvre in Fowey. Although they need tugs at each end to swing the ship round and its more valley shaped. Thank you.
Difficult manouvering effortlessly done. I imagine the captain slouched in his chair, one hand on the wheel and one out the window!
You see the bow thrusters at the end there which make this possible. Nevertheless, a job well done.
That is some driving/parking.
Beautiful work!! Excellent Captain!! He has a logo on his hat that reads.......'Ain't Scared'!!
Great video! I'm a professor at a sailing school and I would like, with your permission, to use your video on my channel to explain concepts such as the pivot point, the prop wash and the rudder effect. If you agree, you can reply to this message and I'll get to work on it. All the best.
Fine with me - grateful if you could link back to the original for people who want to see the whole thing.
