*The original use of the term beta in climbing is generally attributed to the late climber Jack Mileski. "Beta" was short for Betamax, a reference to an old videotape format largely replaced by the VHS format. According to some sources, Mileski would record himself on tape while completing routes and then share these tapes with friends. According to other sources, it was actually a play on words, as Mileski would often ask, "you want the beta, Max?".

This is the best climb I've been on in the PDX area. It's located at Broughton Bluff, on the Bat wall. It's called Manson Family Reunion (MFR, 5.12c).

This is an extension of the V3, Virtues Traverse. This extension adds difficulty and quality. Start at the furthest right corner of the Stump Boulder, and traverse your way up the entire lip.

Nice! Third (known) ascent(?). Stoked to have a full video of this line, since I’m too lazy to video usually. Luke and me just added another line, Animal Magnatism V4/5, today that links ‘The Point V2’ into ‘Unknown V3’ on the Animal Magnatism boulder.
Glad to climb this one, it was a battle! I’ll check out the new link on Animal Magnetism.

I swear you used to be able to message TH-camr users, but ya can't so I'm leaving a comment here: I do a lotta solo bouldering at Carver like you (i've run into you a couple of times out there) - do you have any recommendations on good solo-bouldering spots in the portland area? i've got the pdx bouldering book, but places like Hamilton look like blocky pits with bad landings. cheers, love all the work you're putting in and the rad climbs.
I like Empire Boulders, Lost Lake Boulders, and Bridge of the Gods. The last two spots, I’ve heard have had access issues recently so check on that before going. I’ve heard good things about The Garden Boulders but haven’t been there myself. Cheers!
