It's so easy. Childish Jar Jar was a big problem. Darth Vader being a childish 8 year old was a big problem. The Gungan under water world was a big problem. Childish Battle droids were a big problem. Lucas was mixing adult themes with childish dialog. Example: Darh Maul kills Qui gonn and then obi-wan cuts him in half and down he goes. Minutes later an 8 Year old Anakin is blowing up droid ships yelling "(Wahhhh-hooo!)" Are you kidding!

Looking back on the making of the phantom menace i got two things to say. One the second kid that auditioned for the role would be the Ideal young anakin! Second and it's mostly due to the comment section, stop saying that the people around Lucas were afraid to say no, that's not an excuse for the fact that nobody on the entire production ever questioned his ideas, they hold equal responsibility for the final product. And who knows what Lucas reaction might have been in the end! Maybe he would listen like how he did when he made a new hope!

Truth is, most of Luca's movies were failures. Howard the Duck, etc.

I bought a new, in the box, Jar Jar action figure this year. It cost less than when it came out. It is part of the history of how Star Wars was destroyed.

I want to get a copy of this on DVD because it shows how Lucas destroyed Star Wars. Also at the end, the producer said, "We're gonna make those Sweet Greens."

I’ve never been involved in making a movie and I really don’t know what even goes into it. But even I know that kid #2 was the best choice.

These people in the comments and the creator of this video are the toxic fans that went insane and acted like the original didn’t have a ton of stupid crap and only the prequels were an issue despite being good in many ways and having way better fights, these are the same kind of people that pushed some of the actors to such lengths as considering suicide and harassed the child who played Anakin. These people in the comments are the same kind of psychos. Fans with no lives full of hate and bitterness, said failed people who put all of their identity into Star Wars and didn’t want to see it changed and would have hated it no matter what because it wasn’t exactly the same.

I liked the prequels and didn’t feel like the first one was bad. I think people mostly forget the bad or silly aspects of the original and just didn’t want anything changed.

Ep 1 wasnt that bad as people made it out to be. Yes it has it flaws. its a memorial movie with so pretty damn cool characters. And leys not forget the lightsaber duel. Ep1> sequel trilogy

I tried... I tried liking it... But Anakin being born 'from the Force' and then climbing into the Naboo fighter totally ruined it for me. Oh yeah... Midichlorians.... What the infinite and glorious #@$% was Lucas thinking.... ..If only Irvin Kershner had directed the entire prequel trilogy.... He is the reason Star Wars is currently a 'thing'. A New Hope was cool. ROTJ was a good one. The Empire Strikes Back is all-time great, able to shine by itself without mentioning the other movies.

I lost interest the minute they made one of the main characters a nine year old boy.

George Lucas bought into the hype that he was the genius behind Star Wars. The truth is Lucas, while certainly a talented filmmaker and storyteller, was surrounded by superb talent in the 70s that helped him turn the original Star Wars from a likely flop into a cinematic masterpiece.

George picks the worst child actor. How the hell did he not pick the trained one.

George Lucas hadn’t directed a movie for 20 years. It’s like Michael Jordan coming back after he retired.
