The problems you described are exactly what happened to me, and it can be a bit scary. I wasn’t able to control the trim until I slowed way down. Thanks for the video!! Rusty

WOW !!! From 1945, and the original wood spars are A-OK ? How rare is that ????? Seems to me that, for most folks doing a "re-build", it's a bit of a problem trying to get just the right wood for those spars !

I loved working with Ron. Sometimes Don. Lol. Please tell Ron I said Hi. I worked with him a few weeks at javron. He bought me a set of ratcheting wrenches. He was pretty excited about my ability. Told me multiple times I had all the "good ideas" I started a new position at a aircraft maintenance facility in brainerd at the airport. Stop in next time and say hi. I still love welding and fab. I want to get my aerospace cert soon. Take care fells.

Genuine question: Not worried about any galvanic corrosion between that steel & aluminum being riveted together? With such a beautiful fabric job, would be a shame to have to dive back in there too handle a corrosion problem.

Recently acquired a '39 J3 with a C 85-12 and so very much enjoy ALL the videos. How about a video on magneto variations & options for the small bore Continentals? I guess there are two styles of Bendix and a retro fit Slick mag? Also discuss the wire options for the 4SLN-21's. Maybe timing and plugs, etc.

I have a 1948 Stinson 108-3 on which I am replacing the wingtip. The factory manual says the drag wires should be set to 74 lbs but does not specify how much deflection that should occur at. Is 1/2" the standard deflection used for aircraft of that era? Thank you very much for your help. Jim

The diagonal striped patch on the tail indicates the 3rd Infantry Division that fought through North Africa, Sicily and Italy. The red outline around the Star/bar was used only briefly during 1943. Beautiful restoration.

A big question: Where can you get the aluminum (I presume they’re aluminum) flexible hoses?? See 4:17. I checked with Univair and their source no longer makes them. I’ve seen exhaust parts that are similar but not sure if those are too heavy or not.

    • @jeanettewade5489

We were using univair, you can try Wag-aero, but it is the same flex hose as the alum exhaust, you could also contact Clyde the cub Dr Smith for help
