I was decorating the tree with the Fox Holiday Special on - I stopped what I was doing at the 1:11 point when they were playing this. A beautiful arrangement. As a trumpet player myself, I am very thankful you posted this as I could never find the video.

This song is my favorite! This year was my first and last time playing the mellophone solo at senior night and I totally made all of the seniors cry and it was the best song I have ever had the opportunity to play for our seniors that we love and miss so much

My son, who played trumpet in his HS band, died 2 years ago yesterday, suddenly, and the band played this and "A Childhood Hymn" at the beginning of the visitation. The day after he died, they had to play in the state contest, and got gold for both sections. They had their contest again yesterday, and stopped at the grave on the way back, spent time there with my wife, elder son, and I. I love those kids. God grant you peace in the "salvation created in the earth" in Christ, Balloon Girl!

It is a fitting piece of music. Pavel a devoted Christian was so distraught by the destruction of his church by the USSR that he stopped composing music from 1931 to his death. Pavel died of a heart attack due to malnutrition while waiting in a breadline.

i play alto sax and the very beginning part is sooooooo low, it is really hard to play, granted i am only in 7th grade, but still, it is very hard
Isabella Abel I can relate, concert music has a way of making those low notes feel impossible. Love the harmonization of pts one and two in this piece, however.
Tuba
I play the tuba and I love to hear the warm, chocolate-like undertones which add a divine under-layer to this piece which can make it hauntingly beautiful when the other parts are added on correctly.

I'm a percussionist and people say drumming is easy cuz you're just hitting stuff. Well drumming actually is t easy. I have to learn all of percussion instruments and that is not easy. Learning the bells or mallets is not easy.
Fellow perc here; first chair. Percusion is really easy when you finally learn all the instruments. Once you learn all them, you can master one of them, for me it was the marimba. I've also been learning trumpet and piano on the side. Each instrument is equally difficult to play in their own asepect.
Percussionist here, I'd say percussionist is the easiest to pick up, but takes the longest time to master due to all of the instruments, and knowledge of the different styles and timbres you can accomplish on both the pitched and unpitched instruments!
Dylan Jones I'm a pianist but I was asked to play the bells in our school orchestra. Everyone was like oh that's easy because its essentially a mini piano but no... its like playing the piano with two fingers!

+Noah Taylor No disrespect meant, Chief. Beautiful performance! I only cited Mr. Paarmann because, last I heard, he was the Bandmaster there, and he was my first Bandmaster. (Fort Bliss, he was my CO from April 1990, until he went to Korea, in the summer of '93.)
+Noah Taylor BTW, it's SSG (retired) Robertson. 23 years as an Army euph player. The first three with Doug Paarmann riding my ass. (He started out as a C1 euph player.) I, on the other hand, was a 2.95 player ... that kept being handed the solos ... over my C1 section leader.

"Salvation" has been the official warm up chorale of the 450 strong Marching Southerners of Jacksonville State University (AL) since around 1975. A bugle corps type band, it is nationally and internationally known.
I played first Trombone in this for a Solo and Ensemble contest, I played a Soli (Semi-Solo) (I was the one playing at this song's 1:30 mark) and this is one of my favorite pieces :D
