VIR Full Course - ReZoom September 20, 2013 - 2' 04'' Lap Time
มุมมอง 19511 ปีที่แล้ว
The Spec Race Ariel Atom was practicing for the VIR American LeMans 2013. But it looks like this was the 500 HP version. At 1300 lbs should it have been faster? He really gets down the track. Of course, I had to also. 2' 04'' Lap Time There was one car faster that day - the Lamborghini Super Trofeo. What did you expect.

System 7.0 - First Listening!

System 7.0 - Computer speaker upgrade. To approach System 6.2 fidelity in the audio room. This project so very greatly exceeded my highest expectations. NOTE: This SOUND IS FROM THE (#$%$) CAMERA! Magnepans (replaced) are on the wall in the back. Spectacular clarity, imaging, pure transients, vanishing distortion. It leaves me speechless to describe this!!! Completely OTT!!! Not Hi Fidelity, Ex...

My mom had to drive this track for a time trials event
Nice work! Will you share the components details of you upgrade?

You need a proper energizer not the srd7 connected to some shitty amp.
Really. Said that. Did you have your sound on.
Great headphones but I prefer my Utopia’s.
Wow very technical course... getting those apexes correct is critical
It would be interesting to know if those 009 improved in first few days after the first try. They seem to take a couple of days to really reach their best.
If you would like an open track day for this track, I recommend MVP track time, Chin Motorsports, or 10/10ths motorsports. Also the NCM hosts a few HPDE events a year there as well. Lots of choices, all skill levels, novice, intermediate, advanced. I highly recommend it
Absolutely need to run these cans off a better amplification system. Will notice a MAJOR difference. STAX are my favorite HFs out there.
How's the soundstage on these?
There are now blue stripes painted on the curbs to help students locate the apexes.
lovely home style review ^^
Great video. I am driving NCM this coming weekend and am using this as part of my preparation.
very cool, thanks for sharing that!
When do they have open track days? I tried looking on NCM's web page and all I can find on the calendar are days when track clubs have exclusive use OR is that the only way you can run the track? Please forgive my ignorance as well as this is all relatively new to me.
TacticalTurtle You will have to register with a track day provider/school. This will give you some peace of mind that a pro will be coaching you and the others on the track with you. Two thumbs up for excellent instruction and a safe day at the track.
going for my first time next month. so it seems everything is pretty much LATE. thanks for sharing!
Behind SR007? Must have been a bad 009. HE1000 - will see at CES. Looking at FR - very bumpy , worse square wave, worse impulse response, THD confirms resonances. Sounds like TH is just glad a SOTA planar came along.
Hi, best utopia focal ?
I likely haven't heard the best headphones in the world just yet, like say the Orpheus. I was looking for something approaching my speakers. blog.audiogon.com/2012/10/05/audiogon-featured-audiophile-october-2012-kellyp/
You are the luckiest man of the world.. Not for the headphones, anyone can get them.. For having such a wonderful person to share your life and interests...
kellypf And what do you think the best headphone is ?
I was at the inaugural event as well. The track surface was super smooth, but very slick.
5 people on one point - wow! What group were you running with?
T Strehl Current movie = Taking it easy in yellow to show a physician friend the track he will hit tomorrow. Usually run in Red, instructor. We can run in any group. Here at the line-up I mentioned some (5) hot dogs in the the previous run - Black group (one smashed his M3). This is NCM / MSP = premier opening. When I took my student out (a senior NCM board member) to show him laps had to mention these close calls. Credit due to most drivers who are polite 99%, good drivers. Complex track. Like VIR + Summit Point with a sinkhole thrown in and some blind corners. Fun.
Man, that is a tricky track. Very technical and requires a proper line to stay shiny side up ;-)
What car are they driving?
Loafing along in my C6 Z06
Lol, I scheduled a ride in a gallardo on the 21st. Can't wait!
Blake Richard How was it = fun? I ran against a Super Trofeo practicing for Amer LeMans 09/2013 @ VIR. Only faster car there. And haha could never catch him. Insane car.
Nice one. Diy speakers?
From scratch. The big ones in the audio room are somewhere on this site.
Perhaps you should add in the description the new values of the parts that you substituted so that someone can do the same mods? Nice video for a legendary amp!
Sorry for the delay. I could not get reply to work for me. I just listed them above.
Nice video! What oil filter is that? Thanks, Christian SacCityCorvette.com
This combination of elements is a masterstroke. I would never of thought of it, but now they exist together, it makes perfect sense.
awesome!
what version is the amp?
Sorry, I did not know they had versions. I bought it used with one channel out. It is nice for a tube amp and handles a 2.6 ohm load with ribbon cables without a hassle.
I have a mount between the seats just in back of the helmets. Made of some square tubular bars mounted to the bar that I mount my belts to.
What did you mount the gopro to? Thanks
That is the SVT Superfest. I will be there Friday. I need to apply that, as I also intend to instruct that day. They are a well mannered group who loves to drive. Yes, you should not have any problem having R6s last that long. I would use stock camber, maybe tilt it 1.2 degree to get used to them.
Hoosier R6 and A6. They last several events depending on the temperature.
Thank you. For safety, they must be well secured. Ganisha is the bringer of all things good, an H P Tuners datalogger and engine tune uploader, an OBD2 reader, dash camera (the GoPro in the back) and extra gauges. This backup engine is about 645 HP, the current one, being my design, is over 700. See you at the track! If you need an instructor, just ask for me. They will know who you mean.
good laps, car seems like it's putting down some serious power. What's all that stuff on the dash? I'm surprised they let you run with all that stuff up there.
They are my reference. I am scared something will happen to them and scarf up any I can get on ebay. I had you rebuild some sometime in the past. When David Spencer contacted me, he mentioned they could be repaired. Is that still possible?
Wow it is really awesome to see this system that you have built. The Gold Ribbons were always fun to work with and easy to integrate. I wish that they were still in production.
I'd forgotten how awesome those ribbons looked. Growing up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa I saw Gold Ribbon Concepts speakers quite a few times since they were located only about 25 miles away in Coralville.
Alright so strip the old one off chemically (or some other safe way) and then just shoot the skirts with one coat of the moly and bake. Sounds good. Thanks for the help!
Be very careful. I would ask a machine shop, as the PTW distance might affect oiling if some mechanical attempt is made. You don't want the coating very thick either, that is one coating over another. Some solvents might get off most of it.
Any recomendation on how I should get the old coatings off? Thanks!
Some generic air gun I picked up at Northern Tool. All the coatings held up. Once it is baked on, acetone may not be enough to remove it. I clean with acetone anyway before spraying. Have fun!
hey nice vids. very informative. What kind of gun did you use to spray the moly? Has it held up fine? Just curious if coating it urself is just as good as the factory applied. Judging from you other vids it looks like its held up well =) Im trying to redo the pistons for an ls3. Planning on stripping the old coating off with acetone and then doing what you did.
Sweet Video! The car sounds great!
It was a great day with a nice group. Note 1st 2 laps are warm up laps. Best lap time here 2'07.6" Have fun!
Great video uncle pete!
Yes. Black Z06 with the wing. No. 022. I have been looking for more SVT events VIR-Full this year. More videos at youtube under "kellypf"
Oh yeah! Now thats what I'm talkin about. 120 at the bottom of the essess and 150 mph down the front straight and back straight. I was there that weekend in the green group. Were you driving a Z06?
Very cool!
@rickhollandcubed Stock is 505 HP, I'm at 715. This shows large drag of the wing at higher speeds. Stop by anytime, I'm usually in the garage.
