Loved this vid! I’m getting rly into Gardevoir and I really want to start using it but it feels a little silly to construct Gardevoir decks with the 2025 rotation coming so soon. Do you have any thoughts or theories on how the Gardevoir deck might survive without Kirlia/RGreninja/Heavy ball etc?
You mentioned Garde being a really bad MU for Snorlax. As a Garde player I found it tricky but maybe I’m doing something wrong. How do you beat Snorlax?
Thats an awesome way to play it!! But how can you manage it after the rotation?
I don't think we need the nest balls tbh... Lost vacuum with all the jamming towers currently is better imo, plus it helps in the mirror, and you can run the 2nd candy
love ya man but turn down the music mah boy holy cow XD
Thanks for the video
I honestly think Gardevoir's Drago mu is about 50-50. Drago often doesn't have enough resources to win the game with the combined threat of Adrena-Brain, Mawile, Drifloon, Stamp, Mind Bend, Moonlit Hill, and Manaphy. It's pretty difficult for Drago to take 6 prizes in a timely manner against Gardevoir without running out of resources and losing to Mawile or similar in the endgame. For this reason, I'd actually put Gardevoir over Drago in the tier list. I also don't think Charizard is worthy of top of B tier. It's more of a low B, upper C tier deck in my opinion. Taking a terrible matchup into both the S Tier decks as well as Snorlax and Pidgeot makes me not want to play the deck to a tournament. It can probably make day 2 pretty reasonably, but it won't be able to compete with the Gardevoir and Drago at the top tables. Archaludon seems more of an upper B tier deck to me as well, since it's Gardevoir matchup is absolutely abysmal. The mu is literally less than 5% on the Archaludon side of things. If I were playing Miraidon this weekend, I would be playing a Switch Cart in order to have an okay Gardy mu. I wouldn't play the 2 Switch Cart that's necessary to have a heavily favored mu, but I'd still play one to make it a 50-50.
How does bundle single-handedly turn Archaludon into a 50/50 for Regidrago? I’m pretty sure Regidrago should be more worried than that. It’s still probably BDIF though. Glad to see people actually respecting Garde
Josh I need some Prisma format Garde like I need air rn lol. Are you of the same opinion that at least for the Stamp version of the deck, Budew seems to have negative synergy since we wanna go TM Evo
Maybe hyper aroma?
@@LianleoC currently trying to cook up an aroma list as I'm responding to this lol
Josh are you gonna stream Birmingham? Watch party?
It doesn't work. Every single person in every single deck I've fun against is running switch. I've not had any consistent success with mawile.
Any thoughts on how this'll be impacted by a budew meta? Thinking of picking this deck up but don't want to dive in if it's about to get kneecapped lol
Hello Josh, I follow your guide and stary my TCG Live recently and plan to grab some cards for "Real Deck", thanks for your great video and I learn lots of timing and combo from you. Mind I ask what do you compare Spiritomb / Mawiile / or one more Munkidori for the last pokemon spot?
How does the kirlia die if it has bravery charm attached to it?
Bravery Charm only gives additional HP to basic Pokemon so once you evolve it's not longer a basic
@ ok ty so much
I was literally typing out that you passed instead of attacking. Thankfully they were zoned out at that point.
oh my god that 1st turn on the miraidon matchup was just nuts 😭😭
this deck seems way too gimmicky for me. you just put up mawile knowing you are going to lose if there is a switch and pray there isnt one. then your opponent draws out. it is easily countered if it gets too popular in the meta share. i dont get it.
It's just Gardevoir with Mawile lmao. It's still Gardy, the Mawile is just an option
Yeah that’s not the deck at all, it’s just one single option in the deck that I happened to be highlighting for the video
U missed the point of the video. This ain’t a Mawile deck, he just happened to highlight how good the card is
Try running one or two stretches!
I have! The other version of the list (Henry’s) had 2 stretcher in it!
@ nice, can u share with me? Or just say what u switch out for them🙏🏻
whats the difference between spiritomb and klefki? seems like spiritomb is just a worse klefki
good stuff, may be digging back into gardy with the upcoming changes to the meta here with budew... interesting to see flutter mane out of the lists these days. is klefki just a better option to slow their setup, even without having a relevant attack and ways to get damage on their board for later manipulation/munki shenanigans?
I think it really just depends what you’re trying to beat. Klefki was mostly in there for thorns Pult/turbo decks
@@JoshFrinkPTCG that makes sense. thanks! are you pretty much choosing second in every MU to try to get the EVO play off, or do you ever call first?
58:55
Tilted off the planet lol some people need to learn grace in defeat is a virtue
Hey Josh thank you for the video and congratulations on your run! I have to say however that I don't know how I feel about the Mawile tech. All it really does is force people to play a Switch or Turo, so if it catches on and becomes more popular it will defeat itself as it literally does nothing if they do. You would have lost both the Miraidon and Regidrago games if they just had one of those, so unless you add Eri / Miss Fortune Sisters to your deck it's not a very reliable strategy, and if you do add those you might as well just change to playing Snorlax. I'd love to see more games where you win without Mawile or if the enemy does play a Switch!
Yeah this is just how metagaming works though. The regidrago player did play 2 switches also so that’s a moot point, but if standard lists of Miraidon don’t play switch a tech like mawile can do a lot of work to punish it. I think you’re just completely missing the point of how tech works
@JoshFrinkPTCG i understand how tech works, I am just pointing out that the counter-tech in this instance is too easy and seems to take the wind out of your sails completely. You showed 2 games where you said "if they have switch we lost", so it's a tech they can get out of by holding their Switch, which they will do and then beat you when they know you have Mawile making it a less effective tech than Klefki or Spiritomb for example, which can disrupt your opponent completely. All I said was that I'd like to see how the deck works without having to rely completely on them not having Switch, because I couldn't get a feel for that through this video. I do get that it's an excellent tech against Charizard tho. Anyways thanks again for the great content!
@@ShadowTasosDrago can only have 2 switches if they burn VStar and for this matchup, they really wanna VStar for the Prime Catcher and Cologne play so Mawile just adds more pressure to that. And it's basically a free win into Goldhengo and Miraidon (Less than 40% of Miraidon decks play 1 Switch Cart and less than 30% of Goldhengos play 1 Switch). Unless your opponent only has to take 2 more prizes, Mawile trapping is a legit strategy vs Miraidon
I am commenting for engagement and I am making my comment very long, so the TH-cam algorithm will like it more! Also happy holidays. 😄
My goat
your face when the drago got unfair stamped into switch powerglass research was so real lmao. opp dragos always draw the nuts
They really do haha
Is this the new build Japanese players are playing. Is it just the Japanese players on live? I get it why they are playing no e switch but without budew in live it seems pointless?
The Gardy goat. Congrats on another great run!
Thank you so much :)
honestly i enjoyed gardi more during naic format where stamp was the go to more than the box when chao popularized it, So it was quite nice to see a lot more stamp do well. and the combo of turn 2 stamp into counter catcher scream tail snipe is a dopamine rush
Totally agree, I am very partial to the slower Gardy build as well.
MY GOAT!!!
no YOU
lots of trapping, not a lot of attacking
A win condition is a win condition ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@UndergroundVersa lol, I'd rather be milled and get it over with
@@JaimeJMarrerogarde cant mill
What is milling if not making your opponent slowly draw their own deck until they lose?
Yo Josh! Big fan, good job on your run at Toronto :) That was my first regional ever and I went 5-1-3 with Gardy!
Hey thats frickin awesome! Congratulations!!
Hey i am new to this TCG and just got the elite battle deck thing. Now i learned that some stuff is rotating out soon... do you have a list / list idea for 2025 or is it still to early for that to ask
Sort of in the same position as you! I’ve added a bit to my gardevoir ex but I think because we’re losing a lot of draw engines after rotation and don’t know what we’re getting with the new sets it’s a little early to say!
1 hour is crazy
Tcgmasters sim is so great. The undo button is fantastic. Practicing mirror matches on there is fun too. However, exactly as you mentioned, I'm only comfortable on 2 decks atm, so using the sim w any diff deck is not ideal as I don't know the ideal board states at diff stages of the game to go for, etc. Awesome vid!
Why dont use manaphy?
I was thinking about removing the fezandipiti to reduce the 2 prizes in the deck
Fez is a key draw card, it allows you to draw without having to kirlia and RC into garde
for this deck, what is the best option: Klefki or fluttermane? or can use both?
i have played both, then played with each one of the deck. I think klefki does way more disruption turn 1 and 2 than flutter mane
Is the article mentioned here worth the ~$130.. 900 yuan price tag
@@UndergroundVersa 980 Yen is like 6USD brother

hello according to you dragapult - charizard with dasknoir and strong
Is pokebeach a good paid app to have?
this video is so lit and very helpful!!!!
Great video easy sub
Thank you :)
Thanks for all the great advice. I have found watching your play has taught me a lot that I didn’t realize just practicing in a vacuum.
Thanks so much! My main goal as a creator is to help people grow as players so I'm happy to know I'm succeeding in that somewhat!
How Klefki can turn off Fez? Fez draws cards after KO, Klefki needs to be Active Pokemon for it's ability to work, and I highly doubt anyone is taking KO with Klefki :D
its actually not that uncommon to be honest, especially against something like Raging Bolt which plays a lot of Bravery Charms
@@JoshFrinkPTCG could you elaborate please?
@@brakfajnegonicku wdym? You hit a bolt or Ogerpon for enough to KO without charm or set it up with Munki and then you use joust to remove the charm and it dies
@@JoshFrinkPTCG oh yea! I forgot about tool removal
Amazing content, thank you! I was looking for the tcgmasters simulator site for too long! I would also recommend my.limitless site too to build or modify decks. (Also has tools like printing deck list for league challenges or proxy printing, importing deck list to ptcg live and playtesting)
Oh, this is good! I just wrote a Magic article a bit ago basically complaining about how all of this info is really well known in Magic but not so much in Pokemon. Still wish more existed, but this is great.
Yeah we’re definitely more in the beginning stages of access to info, but the growth over the last few years has been crazy
Thanks for the advice but I've already learned everything i will ever need to know from The J Wittz. I can't lose.
What website would you recommend for looking at pokemon in the format? For example, if i were building a Sylveon ex deck and wanted to see the eevee's i have to choose from
If you go to Limitless under “tools” there is a deck builder feature where you can create lists for the standard format which should show you all of your options!
The "standard" search feature in the Live client suffices 🙂.
