Hong Kong in Monochrome 09 | Langham Place, Shanghai Street Shophouses , Mong Kok, HK Airport
Episode 09 will be the last one for this particular trip.
We went to a heritage restoration project in Mong Kok that turned the old site of the Sang Sang Leatherwear and Shoes Factory on No. 620 Shanghai Street into a commercial public space, while a short walk away is the Langham Place mall, with it's interesting lattice (or is it trussed?) structure and shiny engineering.
Hong Kong is best experienced by walking, as you see her best and hidden gems when you slow everything down and take time to be aware of what's around you.
Prior to the pandemic, my wife and I once considered Hong Kong our second home, as I would fly-up from the Philippines every 2 weeks just to race in the regattas organized by the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club and Hebe Haven Yacht Clubs.
This series has been a wonderful learning experience for me. I know my photography will improve as long as I keep to it, and I look forward to future visits to HK.
It will be a good photo journal of how my photography has evolved along with the changing dynamic city that is Hong Kong.

Hong Kong in Monochrome 08 | Oi! Art Center, Causeway Bay, Yau Ma Tei Theater, Red Brick Building
มุมมอง 3821 วันที่ผ่านมา
Episode 08 is packed full of heritage locations, one being the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club's (RHKYC) very first location on the corner of Oil Street and Electric Road. Established in 1908, the RHKYC had their premises here prior to Hong Kong's massive waterfront reclamation project to support the territory's growth. Converted into the Oi! Art Center and opened around 2021-2022, it is a must visi...
Hong Kong in Monochrome 07 | Yuen Po Street Bird and Flower Market, Causeway Bay, Victoria Park
มุมมอง 4121 วันที่ผ่านมา
Episode 07 covers our visit in the Yuen Po Street Bird and Flower Market, followed by our street view photos of the iconic Causeway Bay area from the old overpass. We also have some snaps of the quiet Victoria Park one of my go-to places whenever I am in Hong Kong for the RHKYC regattas, as there is a very nice lap pool situated in the park's sports facilities. GEAR USED Camera: Fujifilm XT20 L...
Hong Kong in Monochrome 06 | Central-Mid-Levels Escalator, Tai Kwun evening, Hing Kee Claypot Resto
มุมมอง 6821 วันที่ผ่านมา
I take some photos of one of the longest escalator systems here in Episode 06. In the evening, I also return to the Tai Kwun former Central Police Station and Victoria Prison compound turned museum. Afterwards, a couple of snaps outside the Hing Kee restaurant in Kowloon before we tuck in for their legendary Clay Pot Rice. Hong Kong is one of those beautiful regions that has a distinct characte...
Hong Kong in Monochrome 05 | HK Island, Johnny Depp Statue, Victoria Peak, Sky Terrace, The Peak
มุมมอง 5621 วันที่ผ่านมา
For episode 05, we brave the tourist trap that is known simply as "The Peak". It is on the tallest hill of Hong Kong island, known as Mount Austin, but commonly called "The Peak". The tram ride up can be quite interesting. If you are fit enough, you also have the option to just hoof it and hike up the hill yourself. Once on the sky terrace, you are presented with some options for photographing ...
Hong Kong in Monochrome 04 | Pottinger Street, Tai Kwun, Central
มุมมอง 21721 วันที่ผ่านมา
For episode 04, my wife and I walk up the iconic Pottinger Street, which is a series of cut stone steps up a hill in Central, which lead to the even more iconic Tai Kwun which is the former Central Police Station Compound and Victoria Prison, where Pol Pot was imprisoned. The Hong Kong Heritage Board ingeniously turned the entire compound into a museum for history and photography buffs alike. I...

Part 03 has some very special photos (to me at least). I've been an admirer of Fan Ho's work since I was in high school, and the very first time I travelled to another country was to go to Hong Kong back in 1993 for the Hong Kong Mantas international swim meet. I knew that many of Fan Ho's photos were shot in Hong Kong, and because I had no easy access to the internet back in 1993, being able t...
Hong Kong in Monochrome 02 | Yau Ma Tei, West Kowloon, and Hong Kong National Museum

Part 02 of the series, all of the photos are taken as I walk from location to location. As someone diagnosed with ADHD, I usually take snaps of everything that I find interesting well, to me at least. This episode includes photos I took while at the Hong Kong National Museum, while my wife and I were in West Kowloon. Apologies for some repetitive images, but it has become a habit for me to take...
Hong Kong in Monochrome 01 | Mong Kok, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon Area
มุมมอง 22328 วันที่ผ่านมา
Part 01 of the series, these photos are my amateur attempt at documenting the very dynamic, and slowly (sometimes rapidly) changing face of Hong Kong a country that holds a special place in my heart, as it is the very first country I travelled to, back in 1993. Originally intended as a 300 page printed photo book, I decided that I wanted to be able to keep adding more photos of the different ar...

Thank you for your kind words, Roger. Much appreciated. I have, just now, begun to look through your channel and monochrome shoots as well. Currently watching your Sydney photowalk. I love the layers of your composition, and the vibe of the photos. Looking forward to watching your other monochrome videos. 😊
