    Previous companies I worked for, we checked line side of disconnect and that was it. Current company of 9yrs, main customer calls us first, unless an hvac guy is on property. Normally not. We will troubleshoot and identify the problem, everything from Tstat not calling for… or LV transformer bad to blower motor had to have “reset” button pressed. Sometimes on the split system just identify water in pan/pea trap, and float switch broke power to Tstat or the call for cool. I don’t enjoy TS hvac, solving electrical problems is rewarding. Part of it, the company and customer have 20+ yrs of trust and we service multiple properties in several major cities, other part is the tenants know our bright green shirts, sense of trust and that the office will be clean when we leave. Texas commercial electrician. Open shop

    I always tell my guys that when we do clean work we get less push back from the inspector. Clean works makes it look like you know what you're doing and inspectors tend to pry less

    How do you pay apprentices, do you still do hourly or do you do commission? If hourly are you rewarding guys for working hard and learning fast on the job and pay them accordingly to how they do and not what year apprentice they are. Thank you for your time

    What kind of of things do you want to see on a electrician trainee resume? because i am having a hard time wrighting it i get annoyed easy when the helpers who have no schooling get paid the the same as a electrical trainee with a state number.

    • @the360electricianpodcast
      @the360electricianpodcast 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can understand your frustration, but the first bit of advice is to stop comparing. Never ask what someone else is getting paid, ask yourself how much you are willing to get paid. When starting out school or no school is more important for you and how fast you are going to level up. The employer will take notice very fast and know what each person is worth later on, but everyone start about the same (which is not enough). Hang in there work on you as much as you can to build value to the employer m, then ask for what your worth. If they say no, don't be afraid to start walking soon as another opportunity arises. One other small piece of advice is not only go for the $$ . Would you like to get paid $4 more an hour, but all you do is deliver pipe from one floor to another. Or be paid a little bit less and get real diversified training and skills? If you have mouths to feed, then go for the money. If you're young and single, go for the training ,money will come, believe me.
