🥳 2024 Request for Proposals for Mindanao 🥳
🌱 With the Association of Young Environmental Journalists, our grantee, we produced “Kwentong Kalikasan.”
🎥 It is a video advocacy series that highlights the stories of forest advocates in Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental. The series aims to creatively document and amplify the positive impact of their work, inspiring others to follow their footsteps in protecting and conserving the forests.
🏫 With the support of the Department of Education, over 700 students from public and private schools in the provinces have viewed the videos. As a result, around 98% of the students reported a deeper understanding of the importance of forests, and 96% expressed interest in supporting forest conservation initiatives in these landscapes.
📺 With the support of the Knowledge Channel Foundation, also our grantee, we extended our reach beyond the landscapes by broadcasting all 14 episodes on their TV channels and streaming platforms, including iWantTFC. The episodes aired for four months, free of charge, allowing us to reach a wider audience.
⭐ In addition, the National Council for Children's Television (NCCT), an agency under the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines and a distribution partner for "Kwentong Kalikasan," has rated the advocacy videos as "child-friendly." Based on their scorecard, the videos were assessed as educational, informative, value-laden, and age-appropriate, meeting NCCT’s content standards.
👀 We are STILL seeking proposals from individuals and organizations to protect and sustainably manage the forests in Mindanao for water, land productivity, and biodiversity - with the overarching goal of sustaining ecosystem services and forest-related climate action.
