Federal Electric Model 3 Siren Test - 1 Minute Attack - Petrolia, PA
Recorded on 11/16/24
Location: Petrolia, PA
Testing: As needed
Address: Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department
Other Enthusiasts Present: Cameron (@sirensofneohio3979) Kurt (@sirenfreak57) Frankie (@-northeastohiosirensandtra5641) Emmett (@SDTrains) Jack (no channel)
Recording Equipment Used: Canon Powershot SX540 HS
Other Notes: After recording Punxsutawney and taking a million pictures of different sirens, we stopped here in Petrolia where we met the Fire Chief. He's an intelligent guy who knows a lot about the history of Petrolia. He has a strong accent which made it ironic, and he grew up in Massillon, so that was a nice surprise. He said this Model 3 is from 1942, confirming that it's a Federal Electric type. When we were ready for the 3 to be set off, he called it in to dispatch with his paper on, and we heard the tones to activate this old but cool model 3. Easy to say that this was the quietest siren out of our whole trip, but what do you expect from a 3 HP siren. After the test, the Fire Chief showed us the controls for the siren, and he told us stories about the tiny town. Overall, this was an amazing trip, and although we had a failure with a rare siren in Anita, we had a good time and our next trip may even be better. Enjoy!

Attempted on 11/16/24 Context: After we heard Sigel's 7V8, we were notified that the fire department in Anita were willing to set their Sterling off for us. After we arrived, we noticed something interesting about this old sterling. Turns out that this sterling is 8/8 port! We were not expecting to discover this sterling as a single tone 8 port! This made us even more excited to hear, and just ...

Recorded on 11/2/24 Today was quite interesting. Jack and I had made plans to see if the southerly Jailbar would finally work. I started hearing this thing back in August, but I wasn't 100% sure if it was actually southerly since everybody thought it was dead. Also, idk why, but CVD has loved testing super early since this is the 3rd month in a row that they've tested 8 minutes early. Finally, ...

What scanner do you use? It sounds very similar to a BC125AT.
Hey are you still in Pennsylvania? If so, there is a mystery siren at the Markleysburg Henry Clay Vfd Social Hall, on PA 281 no one has figured it out, but i am just wondering
I know what siren you're talking about. However, I'm not sure what it is exactly. My best guess is some modified darley. I'll be back in PA on January 11th but I'll be near the Bradford area
Whats the controller? UV?
Very interesting sound. There's one in Piedmont, Oklahoma that's an 8 port.
Nice catch!!
The chain-link screening style really does make this siren unique! Probably my favorite Model 3 recording so far.
if siren are start the have 1 and 2 the engine he but on he hat 2 that sound like power are maximum of sentry siren so thank you guys
what did you use to record this?
Town name looks liike someone went jcbeqfjfebwkjveb on the keyboard lmao
groundhog city, pa
?
mb I meant groundhog
@@OhioOutdoorWarningSirens You never seen the movie "Groundhog Day"?
That 3t22 sounds beautiful
What is a alerter
Siren noise jump scared me💀
i love it that nobody has ear protection
DANGIT 8/8 STERLING
I would be so pissed if I went all that way, at least you found out it’s an 8/8
We were very shocked and disappointed
Darn
Real

Hi
Hi
Hi
@@OhioOutdoorWarningSirens that vid was very disappointing that siren have a failure
Did u check after it?
@@Mungabung it went off for the weekly test 2 days after we went there, but it still has radio issues
Interesting attack timing, 10 on 4 off.
Nice camera view
0:55 it was like going down normally and go down faster lol
That's the start capacitor recharging using some of the energy from the spinning rotor
@MichanaAlertingmake sence
Nice
I like the sounds of these. When you hear them in real life you hear the 8 port, but you hear a high pitch with it and a punchy Lower pitch and I think it’s pretty cool.
WOAH thats funny. I JUST started to edit mine seconds ago LMAO! Nice!
Lol that's funny
This must have an AR/AF timer with a 4/4 second cam instead of the usual 8/4 one. This isn’t the fast wail as used on the 2001.
Most likely is, since this one was manually activated unlike the others
Amazing video that sounds great. I also read the description of this video. Very cool! Did you guys do any Greene County sirens?
No, unfortunately, we were too far east to make it to Greene on time. Whenever we plan a Fayette County trip, we'll stop in Greene hopefully
@@OhioOutdoorWarningSirens you should stop at Washington County chartiers twp .
@@coreyferens851 I would like to go back down to that area sometime
Try this one for you
35:18 isnt that the thunderbolt from one of the pulse vidoes?
Idk
Fire siren
I wonder how many other old sirens are out there that we assume are dead simply because they don’t rotate
Yeah we assumed this thing died years ago but it works now!
Well done!
Appreciate it!
WOW, Nice!
Thanks!
Glad this darn thing worked for someone 😭
@@sirensofneohio3979 fr
Another really old bolt has been recorded, how amazing 🎉
@@sirensofgahannaOhio yes indeed
FINALLY.
Awesome
Damn. Glad it works. Am I tweaking, or can I hear the blower even from that distance?
No, we were way too far to hear the blower, plus it's on the other side of the building
@@OhioOutdoorWarningSirens It's probably just the pulse messing with me
Should upload the Bolt by itself dude. This is big
Big like CaseOh

@@thespiritstingray9359I AM NOT BUILT LIKE A ONE BY ONE LEGO PIECE
I audibly gasped when I saw this. Finally, after so long, it's been filmed. Excellent work, thank you for doing this
It was only a matter of time
I don't know whether my favorite part of the day was nearly shitting my pants over this thing going off in the distance, or the Red Robin chicken sandwich I had afterwards 💀
I'd say southerly was prob better
1:21 Start of FS 500 siren 0:58 Start of FS Model 5V siren
1:29 omg it works!
It’s going to the Siren grave 🪦
Bye-bye, P50 rip 🪦 May you rest in peace
this literally looks like a video game
The first siren heard being toned out is Abilene’s Model 7T receiving activation tones ahead of the rest of the system.
