The photo @ 3.04 is where the Jowett family lived in the lefthand semi after moving from Harehills in the late sixties.

This country has democratically made a lot of choices which are just not helping it advance in this world, Brexit being one of them. And you see it falling behind in the everyday of ordinary people.

Given the current state of the EU today, I would not say Brexit was a bad move.

Hello Roy, just stumbled on this site and I`m amazed to see myself and my family outside our house. The picture is at 3.36. I`ve never knowingly seen this pic before so if you can get back to me , I would love to get a copy of the original. I can fill you in with the correct details of the location, dates etc to show it is a genuine request. I am 82 years old now so this really takes me back. Obviously I also recognise many of the other pictures too.

much of inner city Leeds is still an overcrowded, grubby down at heel toilet - far removed from all the finery.

Remember watching Born Free at the Capitol cinema and getting my hair cut with Syd the barber on the same parade of shops. Long since flattened and now a Waitrose. And walking across the seven arches as a teenager.

These 6 minute videos end up being 30 minutes with all the pausing to figure out where and which road is which. How much view people had on the ridge and agree with Chris. the ridge is just a muddy mess now. The total change of the landscape is mind blowing! And finally know where Yorkshire switchgear used to be. Love these pictures, love my village...Meanwood 💜

Well, that could have been better. Many photographs were visible for less than a second, making it difficult to see anything. The sequence was pretty much random, except where we got several trams in succession, and a number of photos appeared twice. And in very few photos was there any kind of explanation of what we were seeing, and that only because someone had written it on a photo or it was a postcard. It would have been better to have grouped photos by different parts of Meanwood, from Adel down to Sugarwell Works, and a caption to each photo saying where it was taken, looking in which direction, what landmarks are visible, and roughly when it was taken. And, since a number of photos show the white houses which were built after 1919 to be Homes Fit For Heroes, a short explanation of that - and of when they were demolished - would have been helpful. They were still here when I first came to Meanwood, and I remember how large their gardens were.

My father and his brother ran the Meanwood laundry in the chapel building in the 50's and 60's.I used to walk there from our house in Weetwood Lane via the tannery which always smelled horrible!

Although everyone referred to the place as a tannery it was worse than that. It was a fellmongers and I remember on some summer days the smell was enough to make me retch🤮
