Coming from the high country of Colorado, many of our "First Responder" drone search and rescue operations are conducted, or at least aided by, volunteers using their own equipment and financial resources. This act does nothing but hurt the very folks it supposedly protects. If Congress needs something to do, then they should incentivize American manufacturers to compete and not obliterate the only supply chain we have.

All these laws that come about that you see from government agencies in the US including other countries are changing our spending habits that you no longer own and then enjoy by Forcing you to Redirect our money to pay to play Reoccurring Subscription Based Platforms R.S.B.P. People need to understand that this is the direction that the government is pushing, which makes Hobbies Fall out of existence not just only drone hobbies but other hobbies as well. Of course this is coming from the WEF world economic forum..

Greg, this is insane! I have been trying to warn about the bills being pushed by the same members of Congress for a few years and people don't think it will happen. The American Drone Act was added to the National Defense Bill last year and this could get through too. She also has the Countering CCP Bill, which is another issue. Locally when a ban came up in our State Senate, only a couple people helped fight it. Many people were worried, but almost no one spoke up. People need to speak up! This might be the bill that crushes an industry, destroys the recreational drone market for a long time. It would take more than a decade to recover in my opinion.

In my opinion for government to apply NDAA rules to a local volunteer fire department was an unnecessary overreach for zero risk to national security This is exactly what the Tennessee legislature did last year.

You are in correct in that a tethered Balloons are not required to have a licence.

I usually don't feed the trolls but... Stop whining about your rights that you don't have when entering the National Air Space. Whine to congress who's knee jerk reaction to UAVs, and you unlicensed "hobby" flyers who who want to break the law under the guise of your "constitutionally protected rights." I have been a fixed wing pilot for over 33 years. It is hard enough to see other airplanes coming at you at over 100 MPH let alone a UAV.

How can the FAA, a government agency, whether in public or not, force a citizen to wave their constitutionally protected rights (1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th Amendments) and submit to, without probable cause and/ or a 4th Amendment warrant, government tracking, surveillance, and control of a citizens private movements while enjoying a business or hobby, all while collecting and recording evidence that can, and will be used against a citizen in any FAA prosecution against them? And, in most cases, forcing a citizen to pay for the surveillance equipment that will be used against them? How is this not a blatant violation of the Bill of Rights? Your thoughts, please.

Got no respect for our FAA today. They destroyed not 1, but 2, Boeing Max aircraft - and didn't ban em until the rest of the world already did. Then the drone fiasco - the FAA has criminalized FPV sans spotter or BVLOS anywhere, flying anything. This includes under the trees in my own backyard flying a 50g tinywhoop. And those aircraft are 100% harmless. Yet the FAA sees them as lethal. That makes no sense - so I got no respect - for our FAA - anymore. Do you respect this FAA of ours?

I wonder why it was stated that no Category 1 drones capable of flight over people exist. For example my 44 gram drone ( www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P62LD88 ) with Ducketed-Propellers I think should qualify.

My big issue here is that, typical of the government, they are making new laws that only effect people that are already abiding by the laws. Those of us that hold 107 certificates are clearly already following current laws. There are many, many folks that aren't. The FAA does little to nothing about all of the real estate agents taking pics and videos of properties without 107, the youtubers flying anywhere and every where without 107, and on and on. Instead of enforcing existing laws, they make more laws to press on the law-abiding among us. I will admit that I'm shocked and amazed that the FAA actually took ANY action based on our comments. Many people simply wouldn't comply if our info was publicly available. That being said, I know Amazon wants to purchase more air space (that's what they did, they purchased our rights through the FAA), please don't roll more regulations into this. My question for Mr. O'Shea is this. What is the FAA doing to enforce existing rules? What happens when real estate agents and youtubers continue, (furtherance of a) business as usual, without RID?
