Spica (Alpha Virginis) | The Virgin's Spike | From the Spring Triangle!
This is the seventeenth video on this channel, which contains information on stars and how they transform with time, very interesting indeed. This star is part of a constellation which is designated as Virgo. It is a very interesting star as you shall see in the video. Spica is the 16th brightest star in the night sky. This video includes some information on how stars are born, how they get their designations and the importance of studying them. If you are struggling to follow and understand the calculations in this video, you can watch the planet podcast series which has clearer explanations. This is part of a series of entertaining and informative content on stars and their systems, and hopefully you will benefit and enjoy the content :)
This video is dedicated to a Great African Historian of our time, the late Mr. Pathisa Nyathi.

    For anyone who wants to know, a dwarf planet is a planet that is significantly smaller than a normal planet, hence the name: “dwarf.” Most dwarf planets are usually on the edge of solar systems hence Pluto. The most common dwarf planet that we know is Pluto, but there is also others like Orcus. Now, the question of the day, can you name any dwarf *stars* ? Tell me in the replies! Oh and also, before I forget, Shumbafoot, can you make a video on dwarf stars please? If you have already that’s fine, but please do so!

    • @shumbafoot
      @shumbafoot ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. Thanks a lot for your contribution, hopefully everyone learnt a thing or two. With regards to your request, the video on dwarf stars can be made as soon as possible, so your request has been noted. Hopefully we'll have that video as the debut episode of a series on dwarf stars. We're grateful for your suggestion and we'll try to do our best to deliver it👍

  • @TheDevs-IV
    @TheDevs-IV ปีที่แล้ว

    This is because the planet was hit by a massive explosion which caused it to make this state, hoped this helped! If you want to read more, visit Wikipedia and search up Haumea.

    They prefer the term little planets.

    • @shumbafoot
      @shumbafoot ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed that's fine. We appreciate the reality of our diversity in preferences. This is why we have standards and conventions - to avoid confusion and miscommunication, and to promote uniformity. International organizations like the International Astronomical Union (IAU) were set up to decide on how to come up with the standard nomenclature to be used internationally or universally since everyone has a unique term/adjective they prefer. This is why and how this celestial body got the name Sedna and it falls into the group of little planets called dwarf planets (definitely not as tiny as some people would think😂). You can check Resolution B5 and B6 of the IAU for more clarity on this issue.

      Noted. Well what if we look at it this way; since it's a cold planet and the ground is not suitable for sustainable agriculture, can we not provide energy sources from earth to provide heat for maybe a decade or so and then send some organic matter and approved safe chemicals to treat the ground for that period, with the aim of making it fertile ground for agriculture and improving the climate to make Mars suitable for habitation?

    SHALOM. WHY DO WE NOT HEAR THE AFRIKAN NATIVE TONGUES?

    • @shumbafoot
      @shumbafoot ปีที่แล้ว

      Shalom. You may need to specify what you imply by 'Native' so that we get what you mean. If you are talking about the ancient African languages like those spoken during the ancient Egyptian civilization in the North or the languages spoken by the Khoi Khoi and San people in the South, then we are not sure if anyone has translated the song into those languages. If you are talking about the African languages that are spoken in present day Africa, then you are listening to one of them which is the ChiShona version from Zimbabwe, derived from the original IsiXhosa version by Enoch Mankayi Sontonga from South Africa. The other countries which adopted this song or its tune are: Tanzania (sung in KiSwahili) and Zambia (sung in English with a different arrangement and lyrics). The other angle of your question is general and not specific to this song. The reasons why most African languages are not heard or known around the world are a lot and complicated, but some Africans, as well as the African Union that we celebrated yesterday, are trying to show them to rest of the world so that people get to know more about the native languages of this continent.

    I you want to know, here is why, 1. It is too small to be considered a planet. 2. It failed to complete the 3 things to be considered a planet (which are) A. It orbits a star / B. It is round shaped / C. It clears its neighbourhood X

      You can give the planets your own names, but there ought to be a standard in naming these bodies in our beautiful Universe, so that we can understand each other as people from various backgrounds. You'll find that some names are derived from the Greek mythology, others are Roman and if you went through the video, you'll now know that Uranus' moons were named after characters from Shakespearean literature. For example, Miranda (Uranus V) was named after Miranda from William Shakespeare's play called 'The Tempest'.
