He was great
Thanks so much for doing this. Sorry I'm late to the party. Appreciated. Best/CB
Dude, that was off the charts awesome. Well done.
Rip mick🎶❤️🎶
In recent years he's revealed that substance abuse problems were an additional key factor which led to his firing. Also, achieved satisfaction out of court when he tried to sue them in the 10s.
did he ever sing on songs afterward or go solo?
The biggest thing (performance wise) he did after Steely Dan was being the lead singer of a late-70s soft rock band, with the unusual name of Wha-Koo. They are easy to find on this site. That "Teen Wolf" song he did as a solo artist; but I'd ignore that cr*p and check out Wha-Koo instead!
what a great song- Who rocks!!
This voiceover is over-the-top. It sounds like some drunk guy at a bar.
Interesting that Al DiMeola showered him with praise. Some of his lines are similar, which may be coincidence and is no aspersion on Al, whom I like. "Great knows great."
Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
What was that evolution of rock chart?? I want a poster of that
My favorite Christmas song (along with The Kinks’ Father Christmas) and super fun to play!
Bringing this one back because it’s that time of year again.
I have a Gizmotron 2 and it is not very practical, the sounds it makes against the strings are thin and buzzy not as good as an Ebow, I'm waiting for someone to invent a six string Ebow.
Just a fool who needs some dental work, oh yeah 😉
a bigpart of bowie's genius was picking his collaborators i doubt even he had any idea when he teamed up with Ronno just what a gem he was getting invovled with
Brilliant guitarist
He’s like the Tommy Emmanuel of prog rock guitar. Like he can be playing something and then completely change in a split second seamlessly. Like he’s just playing what in his head.
RIP Mick, and David, you are so missed.
2:02. How can you take that list seriously? No Blackmore, Beck, Santana.
Looks like without him, bowster wouldn't have anything to dance around too
One of the finest guitarists on the planet!!!
Jan Akkerman - Guitar Genius ? If you want to see a real guitar genius just go watch Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) at LIVE AID !!! Now that's a real guitar genius at work !!! LOL !!!!!!!
Hi apparently you like Jimmy Page and me too. but the comparison stops there. Whether on a technical level or on a very varied musical style level, the feeling, the groove, the rhythm guitar, the finesse of playing and a whole bunch of subtlety, Jan Akkerman is on another planet than Jimmy Page. Either you don't know Jan Akkerman's work well or to be polite, your ears are betraying you and you don't know music well. Hearing or reading aberrations like yours are beyond understanding. Learn music before making such comments. Unfortunately you are not the only one and we live in that world.
Fantastic overview. Thank you.
Dude needed some dental work
Thank you Focus 🌻 I roadied at one of your gigs in Manchester back in 74-75 at the hard rock on greatstone rd , I’m 68 now back then I was around 18-19 came to watch the gig high as a kite and the song at the beginning of this clip came on and just blew me away like wOw, have used this song to replenish my soul in times of need , and it does it for me ,Thankyou Jan for the outstanding beautiful lead playin Jan🌻I hope to see you again soon!
Thank you for singing this in the correct octave. Good rendition
Thought I was a Steeley Dan fan, but I didn't know any of this, OR about Jazzman, which i think is brilliant. 👍
Great voice- but I prefer Donald Fagan. Just me
Excellent cover!!
Much as I love Donald Fagan, I suspect he got it wrong getting rid of David Palmer - his voice is completely iconic for the band. I listen to this and I am completely transported back to the time found them and all the blasts from my various car stereos over the years!
Salute from Brazilian Focus Fans
Tony Iommi and Mick are most humble guitarists to ever live
When you use the scotch pad to sand in the back of the neck was the pad dry or was it moist with water.
Genius. First time heard Focus on 1973. Focus at the Rainbow. One of the best albuns ever. Like Dark side, Houses of the holy, Close to the edge, all of the same year ...
⚡🤘⚡my distant secret love for MRs musicianship has no boundaries!!⚡🤘⚡
id like to have seen mick and randy rhoads together.
Well done! Mick Ronson was a beast! I didn't know he was on the mellencamp tune, makes sense that it would be so memorable
Comprehensive, yet easy to understand ! Thank you very much ! 😀
Why end the tribute with Ronson playing someone else's guitar solo? Yes he played it well but not anywhere near the original as Ronson played using a completely different method. This was supposed to be a tribute to Ronson not Mercury or Fripp, the latter of which is thankfully still with us.
I never got to see Mick with Bowie. The only times I saw Bowie he had Frampton or Belew on guitar. I did get to see Mick play with Ian Hunter in a small club in Atlanta though. Great show, great guitarist!
Met Mick in the late 70s when he was playing with Ian Hunter. He was a really cool down to earth dude!!! Still have the photo with me, Mick and Ian.....will always cherish that moment in my life!
Ronson is not unsung or unknown. Early Bowie music had Ronson shaping the arrangements and probably the melodies as well. Most Bowie fans know this.
One of the greatest guitarists ever
Bowie was a greedy prick….used people and took their credit.
Mick was a genius-musical-freak. Always have loved that era--The Spiders/Bowie, Mott, and of it! Not trying to get off topic, the last interview I saw was on an old VHS tape, from 1989. The tape was the Hard and Heavy Video Magazine, Volume 11. Hunter and Ronson were promoting a song simply titled "American Music," a homage to the scene in USA in the 1950's. Damn good track! The song celibrated how the American rock influences inspired the Brit rock movement and vice versa. When the interveiwer asked the 2 guys how they did the song, Ian simply replied:.. "I sing a bit, then Mick plays the guitar!" I have 4 favorite stuffed animals. A bunny rabbit, a Beanie Baby meer kat, and 2 teddy bears. I call them "All The Young Dudes.' Had them 15 years now.
I didn't know much about him (which is why I watched this). I was very impressed when I heard his full resume. Page is rightfully number one, but I sure am glad that MIck is above Clapton here - he's probably the most severely overrated singer/musician is rock history.
Nice tabs dude. It actually looks pretty simple
He was also an excellent lutenist. Introduced me to John Dowland.
💜❤🎉🎩💥🤟🏼👉🏼🪨 good one
