RV DIY: Slide Out Seal Replacement
Check your seals before winter comes!
Depending how many seals you need to replace on your trailer, you'll want to give yourself about an hour per slide if you're replacing multiple sides.
Supplies Needed
📏 Slide Seals- We used RecPro 3" wiper Seal with bulb. It comes in 5ft increments that you'll cut to size. It's self-adhesive
📏 Tape measure- measure to get the length you'll need for replacement and to make sure you get the right size & type of seal for your setup
📏 Paint scraper/ putty knife- to remove the old seals
📏 Pliers - to pull staples from the old seals (if there are any)
📏 Goo gone - to clean the area in preparation for the new seals
📏 Ladder- to access the area
📏 Silicone- we ran a bead along the top of the seal after it was stuck in place with the adhesive
📏 Gloves- removing the old seals can be messy
Have you ever checked your seals on your camper? We were surprised how bad ours were.

HOW TO: Install 5th wheel hitch
มุมมอง 8K3 วันที่ผ่านมา
Our truck wasn't set up for a 5th wheel hitch from the factory, so we added B&W’s Turnoverball gooseneck hitch undermount. We had it installed by a local shop and we installed the hitch ourselves. Did you have a question?
Why do you lie ...?
What do you mean?
Im so confused...how did u install the undermount and get the socket in the center of the bed
The turnoverball ball undermount gooseneck single point attachment system we got is for trucks without the OEM puck set up. Here is the information on it. www.bwtrailerhitches.com/product/companion-fifth-wheel-hitch
You have to upgrade your brake system if your gonna tow anything, it’s never about the motor not being able to pull its stopping the correct weight limits
We actually did upgrade to DeeMaxx disc brakes. If you're interested in them our Code BOUNDLESSBRONNEKES gets you 25% off Check it out here. th-cam.com/users/shortsgzLKXAu3lSc?si=5w_CqdEn9QHT5zs5
I got the same hitch system and I love it is had 5th wheel before but it was way more of a pain then anything absolutely love the b and w goose hitch......
We do too! We had a different one for a year and when we upgraded to this one, the difference was incredible!
Im confused about this ( I'm a noobie). Wouldn't doing this just make it so you're driving up onto those blocks on both sides, but not change the height of one side or the other? For example say that the drivers side is 3 inches sloped down and 3 inches lower than the passenger. How would these raise the one side up 3 inches to match but keep the other side the same?
You just drive up on them to raise one side of the trailer to match the other and get level. I hope that helps. Alternatively you could dig down on the high side. But that's not always an option.
@@Boundlessbronnekes thank you, so for example you'd use them to drive up on, on one side and the other side you wouldn't use them so that the one side that has the blocks is higher, is that correct?
@@Brett_Nebraska yep exactly!
You’re wasting hydro. I run a 8000 btu window a/c and it works great. The roof units are power hogs!
Window units are a lot more set up when traveling full time. We replaced an old AC, we didn't just add this one
13 mpg wow ! We get 10 mpg at best at 65 mph the fastest we go !
Those Texas winds gave us a little edge this year lol
Maybe it depends on how much it cost for the air conditioner with the heat pump
We were replacing our broken AC and this is a great option

Was your floor soft? We’ve got a super small area that has gotten soft but with trips coming up we are trying to find a temporary fix until we can repair the entire slide floor.
We actually can't access that spot from inside. It's under appliances, but the outside was a little swollen. Soft spots are definitely a sign of water damage.
@@Boundlessbronnekes yes it’s definitely water damage. We’re just trying to figure out a temporary fix until we are able to replace the whole thing.

If you need to know why all of that works, then you should not be pulling an RV around.
I'm pretty sure that everyone is a beginner at some point so we like to share. What kind of trailer do you tow? Is your process similar?
Your trailer should not be where it is.
@kennethhodge7953 why do you say that? This is an authorized dispersed camping area is South Dakota. We were 1 of roughly 30 other campers in similar spots. Have you visited the Badlands?
How has the maintenance been on the 5th wheel?

✅✅✅ and we have the clear source water filtering system
Us too and we're adding a reverse osmosis filter shortly too
that just goes in the goose neck ball hitch?
We have the single point attachment hitch, so it secures with the undermount B&W system. Many others do use the turnoverball ball and the ball fits in ours too

How do these after market brakes compare to stock brakes that the unit comes with . I just bought a 2024 jayco eagle and after seeing this I’m wondering if I should make that upgrade

What average mpg do you have?
When were towing it's usually 12-13 mpg
You don't push the brake pedal. You pinch the brake slides. You should never be using the brake pedals when calibrating gain. You most likely are setting yourself up for disaster because in an emergency braking situation you probably have the gain too high and this will lock up the trailer tires. Please fix this. What you should actually do is: 1) find a safe flat straight away 2) accelerate the vehicle to 40 3) pinch the brake slides with your windows down to hear tires locking up 3a) if you don't lock your tires lock up turn the gain up by half increment 3b) if your tires do lock up turn it down half a gain increment so that they don't. 4) validate at different speeds to make sure when pinching brake slides.
Curious why that would make the gain too high? Here's are the instructions from Curt Manufacturing that recommends testing with the pedal. www.curtmfg.com/trailer-brakes-controllers

What do you mean?
Fact! 😂
It's so true!
Tire pressure helps with fuel efficiency too!
It absolutely does! Good point!
My truck is an LB7 duramax so it doesnt have the extra wide filler neck for the big noz 😂 so i have to hover over the spout if i use the truckers pumps. I procrastinate the modification i need to do to allow the big noz to fit.
I bet it's entertaining to watch you gingerly pump fuel! How difficult is that mod?
@@Boundlessbronnekes i always end up with diesel on the side of the bed, my feet...its everywhere. And takes forever. My forearms cramp up, but its better than dealing with the 4 wheelers in the gas pumps with the 1 single small diesel noz. Its not a huge job. Remove, the cirrent filler neck and take out the inner sleeve. Reinstall the filler neck. Then you need to drill a ½" hole in the tank with a plug and hose run up high somewhere as the new vent. Im just a procrastinator 🤣 love the content btw
