Oh man 😢I am so sorry, this is heartbreaking 💔 Lift your face to the heavens & sit with your grief- he still has joy for you in your sorrows 💞🙏 praying you through this hard time 🙏
So sorry 😢
You are right. Farming is hard. It’s hard when things don’t turn out the way they should. It’s been a rough couple of years for us with our goats and sheep. We are rebuilding. Praying for you and your family as you process through this and grieve. ❤
I’m sorry this happened.😔
I love the Norwex window cloth! Streak free and so easy!
I have never tried Norwex, I will have to check them out!
You’re a great story teller. Very interested in the way you tell the story ❤❤❤

Nice looking sheep! Good luck!
Loved this! You are inspiring!! Is there a way to get a t-shirt or hoodie with your channel name?
Hi! I just saw this comment. I do have some t-shirts available. Email me at RootedHeartsHomestead@gmail.com and we will get you all figured out! :-) Thanks
About what quantity per apple bin? I have one, and that’s such a good idea! I bought 5# of Kennebec (it does well here). Thanks for the info!
Kennebec potatoes are great! I am planning to put one per square foot. My bins are roughly 3x4 so that will be about 12 pieces per bin. Hope this helps!
Can't wait to try it!❤
It's so good!
What a lovely story! May the Lord bless your family richly with this precious one! This story gives hope and reminds to look for joy through suffering! That is Gods specialty!
Thank you! We are pretty amazed at how God worked the whole thing out
Hello! You could strip down that old mobile home and reuse the siding and lumber in it. It is free and reusable.☺☺Terry of KY.
That is a great idea!!
Make it a good one,,, there's a Houdini in every goat 🐐 !!!
Goats can be quite the escape artists :-) It's what makes them fun
Can't wait to try it!❤️
What a lovely breakfast!
Hi can you make a farrowing assistance video?
A great day on the homestead!
I really liked this vide and the music between your talks! I really hope the blueberries taste great when you prepare them! New Subscriber!
Awesome video, I'm just glad to see that you didnt actually put butter in your strawberry butter as I saw in just about every other video. Ive been on a fruit butter making binge and have done: apple butter, blueberry, cherry and today was peach butter. I bought a 1.5 quart cooker because its just myself and my husband and it nets me four 1/4 pint jars plus a little extra for sampling. I will do strawberry next then nectarines if they are available.
How strange to but actual butter in fruit butter, I have never put any dairy in a fruit butter. That is so awesome that you are able to make all those different butters! We usually do apple, pear, and blueberry, but I loved this strawberry butter this year. Thanks for watching!
@@rootedheartshomestead a couple of those videos claim that a little bit will help keep it from foaming. So far, ive had no foaming. My sister doesnt put anything in her apple butter, nothing no sugar, cinnamon or spices of any kind.
You shouldn't post videos of your children in bathing suits there are alot of weirdos in the world
Hello Kym! Nice to meet u! New sub here and we are new channel as well! Keep in touch!
Hi! Welcome! Thank you for subscribing :-)
Love your videos!! You are so real and refreshing!
I realized this was you when I saw a new video in my feed and thought oh cool! Visit you with my morning coffee! Gave me a little lift. Have a great day.
Sweetness!❤️
I just watched your video. I really like your energy level and enthusiasm. To answer your sugar question. You can look into Pomonas Pectin. There is a learning curve from regular pectin for jam. It looks more expensive initially but you use less and there isn't the same sugar issue. You can use less sugar or partially sub honey.
I'm in the same situation--I don't enough sunny windows to start many seeds, and don't have a greenhouse! I've been direct sowing as much as possible but timing can always be tricky in our zones. That's a great garden haul!
How do you do these chores with the kiddos? That’s one hard part. Another is when there’s a medical problem with one that throws it all out of whack. My Saint Bernard is trying to die and has had many trips an hour away to an emergency vet. So now he has to have someone watch him every minute so he doesn’t pull out a drain (already did it once right behind us 2 feet away) and his stitches don’t have any issues. My husband is on a trip a few days and I’m babysitting this dog at all times, except it’s over 100* now and I’m having to run and give water and check on them every few hours. My kids are all grown and have their own kids, they aren’t here. It’s not easy.
I am so sorry to hear you are going through this! It is hard to do things alone and it feels so overwhelming when we have to do it all, especially when it involves any sort of emergency that is beyond our regular routine. Some of my older kids are gone this week so I am doing everything at the homestead myself and here are a few things I am trying to do to make sure I am not getting overwhelmed. I try to take things in shifts, I wrote down everything that needs to happen and assigned an AM or PM time to do it in. I told myself no big projects when I don't have help, this gives me the freedom to just do what needs to be done and save the rest for another week. Whatever comes in from the garden will not be canned in any big production, the house will just stay tidy and not deep cleaned, and the animals will not get any big changes just the necessities. Also, I have a few people on call if something goes really crazy, I rely on my close friends a lot when I need help and try to not be too afraid to ask for it. My kids for the most part love helping and each has a different part of the homestead that they thrive in. We work hard as a team every day so we can also play hard as a family. I hope your week gets better!
Do they come out of the pressure canner, are they mushy?
They are soft. We have used them in baking so far and been very happy with them. :-)
I think you'd be much better off using a more modern Presto, which has a metal air vent (or cover lock) which plainly lets you see when pressure is achieved, and when it's down to zero. Your gauge on the antique pressure cooker definitely needs to be calibrated if that much steam escaped upon taking the weight off (also, you're supposed to let it vent steam for ten minutes both before putting the weight on and after taking it off.) If you have a gasket, that might need to be replaced too, but these maintenance things might help you feel a WHOLE lot more confident in your equipment. :)
I googled it, it’s a 1970’s presto canner
What brand is that yellow pressure canner?
That rim on the jar is not half inch. It’s called inch headspace
That scale is not completely zero with all the flour on top of it. Filthy! If you can’t wipe it clean after each use!
I wash my jars then boil them before I fill them up
Never seen one in the color yellow! Even with top gauge! I would cherish it!
Nice set up! I’m Chad. Just found you on Facebook. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! So cool to find a fellow Michigander doing this crazy life.
Nice video but don’t remove the weight if there is any steam coming out. That means there is still pressure. Your old canner evidently doesn’t have the safety lock. Also, you are leaving a 1 inch headspace on your jars instead of 1/2 inch. The bottom of the threads is the 1 inch mark. But at least you didn’t leave less.
Good to know! Thank you
In Germany we fill the blueberries into the glasses without water and boil them with or without sugar at 80 °C for 30 minutes in a water bath. They are then still whole and particularly suitable for muffins and cakes.
Sabbath isnt until sundown on friday till sundown on Saturday. Christians celebrate The Lords day at sundown Saturday till sundown Sunday the day of the resurrection. Protestants have this confused.
You are correct that the traditional Jewish sabbath is on sundown to sundown Friday/Saturday. We choose to celebrate sabbath as a true day of rest. In reading in the old testament the downfalls of many kings and nations was not taking a day of rest, or sabbath, to trust that God will provide. They also forgot to remember what God had already done in their lives and was doing currently in their lives. Taking our sabbath, or day of rest, on Friday was a personal choice since often on Sunday I find myself working at church. I am so thankful for a day to not work and spend some time resting and with my lovely family.
@@rootedheartshomestead please just remember that "working" at church on Sunday shouldn't be where thats all you do on Sunday. Sunday is the Christian day of rest and the day we honor the Lords resurrection. So when you go to church on Sunday you are to be presnt to worship not "work". I know we volunteer but should never be every Sunday. We dont keep Jewish feasts and observances because they were in anticipation of the coming messiah. We know he came and this is our focus. Not becoming more Jewish. That is to deny he came to us and is with us. Protestants are a little confused about this lately for some reason.
You need a great big net! I bought one as soon as I started poultry flocks. Boy has it come in handy!
That is an awesome idea! My husband got one for his pigs, I bet it would work well for the bigger birds as well.
