So captivating!.✈️
Great doing! Good Impressions of the country.
Thank you! I was so lucky with the weather but it is a beautiful part ion the world!.
Gonna run it next month, my first marathon ! Thanks for the video, it's a great one to get accustomed to the course and the atmosphere!
Fantastic and good luck! It was quite cold for me so you might want to consider the clothing, weather obviously variable, just don't expect it to be too warm. I hope you have great marathon. Just run for yourself ay your own pace and you will do great. There is that long stretch of sameness as you reach a point and come back on yourself but it is all good. You will love it I am sure. All the best!
I've done the half a few times and really fancy the full but it seems so lonely, I see usually about 1000 runners for the full as opposed to 7000 for the half, how did you find running alone so much?
To be honest I just tend to dig in and go at my own pace. I certainly was not quick on this one so that may account for me running alone a fair bit. That said the sights were good snd you did see people who often cheered you so I never felt alone. There is always a bit of resolve that kicks in when the half marathoners peel off and you think right now it’s just us! The half marathoners were probably the ones that ran past us quite quickly not having to keep so Much in reserve. Go on, give it a try. It’s such a great feeling going past that finish line and I know you will do great! A real sense of achievement. Good luck. I’m March I am doing the Paris half marathon and then in April the full marathon so looking forward to them. I will then look for another later in find year.
2 weeks I'll be there 😊, just rewatched your video, excited now.
Fantastic enjoy! You will love it and have a great time so the very best of luck. Makes me wish I would be there with you again. I have the Paris half in March and then the Paris full marathon in April so looking forward to those.@@nosas66
good luck to you@@runwiththerunners8152
Like the reviews and nice to see these distant marathons but i think ill stick with Marrakesh.
Good luck! I have Paris in March to look forward to but Marrakesh again would be nice!
What a fantastic video! Thanks for posting this. Considering my first ultra and Kintyre Way is top of my list. You have just persuaded me to do it. I'm terrified of getting lost, were there plenty of directions?
Hi Emma thank you for your comments and great Kintyre Way is on your list. The synage was not too bad so I think you are quite safe from getting lost. I was bit worried about that myself but it was OK. We were so lucky with the weather otherwise I imagine some places would have been a bit bleak. The scenery in parts was truly beautiful and the GoPro probably did not always do it justice. Another Ultra you might like to try is the wall 69 miles from Carlisle to Newcastle following as far as you can the Roman Wall. Whatever you decide I do wish you well. Leave a comment and let me know how you got on.Good Luck!!! Happy Running.
massive respect sir!! I have run multiple half marathons just haven't run a full marathon yet
Thank you!!
Hi, does the run start at midnight by any chance? I’m hoping to run this sometime in the near future!
Hi Mike. It starts before midnight but is timed so that you are running during the midnight hour. There are other shorter runs before it starts. I had torrential rain on mine to the extent the footage of large parts of film were just blurred out. I actually wished I had shown just short clips of the real heavy downpours to get a more visual effect. It's another unique experience so I encourage you to run it and good luck!
@@runwiththerunners8152Hi again 1 year later 😁 I have decided to enter for the MSM 2024. I can’t wait to do it, but (apart from the park runs and the odd sporadic run I do), I’m pretty unprepared so far!
It's all about fun and this is so different. I arrived the day before and the weather was beautiful and all night was like a summers day. Such a novelty. On the day of the marathon it poured with rain to such an extent you could not see in front of you. The plan is you cross the finish line close to midnight.which would be lovely if the sun was like it was on my first day. I had to edit a lot of the film because you just could not see anything. It is such an experience though and I will certainly think of doing it again. Just enjoy and run at your own pace. It is all about fun and the experience. Good luck!!!!
Can you give me some tips on race I am doing it this year in couple of weeks I am a slow runner.~Lisa
Sorry I missed your message. I do hope that you manage to run it. I would say start at a slow regular pace and then find a stride you are comfortable with. When you find that stride stick to it but from time to time give more intense bursts nothing too prolonged 100 yds or so and then drop to the pace you selected and that will start to feel even more comfortable. Do this periodically throughout the run providing you are within your comfort level. As you near the end you can either try to give some shorter bursts or keep your pace with the confidence you will cross the line. Have great run and let me know how you do, or did! I wish you luck - but we tend to make our own luck. All the best.
Thank you Richard, it was certainly a steady run but as always a lovely occasion. It am looking forward to running some more. My last was Seville if Feb 2020 Just as Covid was becoming more of a concern!! Thank you for your comments - see you on one soon I hope!
Thank was about half an hour quicker than you. Good video - got main bits. Yes warm for us from the UK.
Was running that year as well - so will look out for myself as slow runner that year
Wonderful film. Almost make's me want to have a go. :)
Hi Bizzy, thank you for your comment. You should have a go although I must admit I was lucky to have a nice day. I imagine that if the weather was bad it would be quite bleak in places but that said it is always the challenge we rise to. Good Luck!
Great stuff 👍
Thank you Fiona, lets hope we can all get back to running Marathons and Ultra's soon!
Watching this I can see why Scots settled in certain parts of New Zealand. This looks so much like NZ it is unreal, especially the first 10mins or so.
Just realised I did not reply to your comment Shaun so sorry for the delay. New Zealand always strikes me as being an amazing country but I never associated it with Scotland so a nice perspective to have. I am not from Scotland myself but this was a good run. I was lucky to have a nice day. Good luck!
I cried at the end .. strange but emotional , great race
I am so pleased you enjoyed it. To be honest I think I cried as well! Amazing experience and hopefully more to come after the strange times we are living through at the moment. Thank you for taking the trouble to comment! Best wishes J
Thanks for the video, got a chance to run by your side ( in my head) on the streets of Norway Excellent work!!!
You are very welcome. I am glad you enjoyed it. When I arrived the sun shone all night but unfortunately the day of the marathon the rain set in and was quite cold. It was so fierce I had to stop filming because it just smothered the camera. A beautiful place though and totally enchanting. As I said in the film the tap water was the purest and most wonderful water I had tasted anywhere in the world. Far better than anything in a bottle. I have had to postpone 4 marathons this year because of the virus so look forward to running again when we have this thing under control. For now it is the country roads on my own.
Hi John thank you for your comments and to put your mind at rest we are in the same age group so you will have no worries. Age is just a number! As far as the Go Pro batteries are concerned I learned a valuable lesson. Do not try to economise by buying cheaper brands. I did and they did not last long. The Go pro battery however gives you a good life. I took 3 batteries with me on this one but only one was Go Pro so I made only just made it. (I obviously have no connection with Go Pro and indeed was going to ditch it because of short battery life until I discovered my error). I have since invested in two more Go Pro batteries and freshly charged they see me through all the races. In fact even one would probably do depending on editing. I wish you lots of luck for any you undertake. My last Marathon was in Seville Spain in February this year 2020. I did not film that because I wanted to improve my time from the year before because I lagged badly then having run so many that year. It proved to be a great run not realising then it would be the last for a while although even then the COVID storms were growing. I was due to take part in Paris and Riga marathons, in April & May respectively but given COVID they have been postponed. Keep going and good luck. As I always say you just have to put one leg in front of the other :)
Thanks for posting this great video...the weather wasnt the best but you did a great job!!!! I know you were using a GoPro, but could you tell me how many batteries you used, and the total length of the video you took... I live in Canada these days and have tried the Canadian Death Race (125 kms), but I thought that next year, aged 67, I would have a go at The Wall.....
Thank you for this. I'm running next week so i can now visualize 👍
Good luck! I will be running it again this year as well so I may see you on the way round! Let’s hope for some nice weather! All the best!
Amazing video man! Inshallah I'm planing on competing this year in casablanca. ❤🏃
Hi Tilentos, thank you for leaving a comment! I hope you do get to run it next year I am sure you will enjoy it. It is great fun. I am running the Seville marathon in a couple of weeks so will post that as well. I ran it last year but I think it was about my eighth marathon in 8 months so I was tired. Good luck in Casablanca. It is a great experience.
@@runwiththerunners8152 wow thats very impressiv I'll take my hat off to you. I subscribed to you. Looking forward to your future videos. Take care man. Greetings from switzerland 🇨🇭❤
Welcome to MOROCCO and WELL DONE !!!
Well done. Great insight to the race, I’ve signed up for it this year, think I’m looking forward to it! 😬
Hi Gavin, thank's for the comment. I am sure you will really enjoy it. We were so lucky with the weather so I hope you are as well. It is certainly a good one to do because you experience all terrain. I have some others this year or I would be tempted to do it again. Good luck with it and enjoy!
ghost town. Difficult to live here. Wow
Hi Sami, it is actually very enchanting and the people were lovely. They adapt to having darkness for long period but I will never forget walking around at 2 in the morning in the bright sunshine. An amazing experience. I would like to experience a few winter dark nights as well!! I was not joking about the water either it was truly lovely.
Lovely film. I would not have been able to speak by the end and you were still cracking jokes!
Thanks Kevin. it was a great run and I think the jokes came because I was so pleased I actually made it. Lovely scenery though. I have a few lined up for next year so hope I make those as well! All the best.
Shamefull to see an organisation as pitiful in an ' international marathon' kuddos on keeping your positivity. Rock on mr englishman! From a young moroccan runner.
31:07 the music of liberation and happiness tears 👏👏👏
Talking off music great to hear the bands on the way round!
It was so good! Nice to be running in Casablanca.
At 21:15 I can feel your excitement and your happiness. I did the 21k and had that feeling when left the 10k red arrow 😁😁😁
Yes it was great fun and I thought we all had good comradeship. Really good running with you!
It was great fun so I hope you enjoyed it as well. Some lovely sights and I always wanted to go to Casablanca after seeing the film!
Hi. I was there too. Unfortunately i didn't meet you. Good job and congratulations !
Hey, I wondered if you would be there. It was a great day and very nice to be in the Sun in beautiful Morocco again. I loved the coast.
Well done! 👏🏻🥇
Well done! 👏🏻🥇
Thank you Angie, you should try it sometime!
💗💗💗💗
Thank you Izzy Grace
Thank you Izzy Grace always good to get a cheer.
Thanks for the video - look's great. I'm thinking of doing this even next year - you'd recommend it?
Thanks Craig I hope you enjoy it. It is quite unique. I have uploaded a Casablanca marathon today that I did on Sunday so I hope you enjoy that. Good luck!
Is a new vid on its way soon? thanks
Hi Chasingamy99 I have the Casablanca marathon coming up early October and may squeeze a September one in as well. Thank you for your interest I hope yours are going well!
I watched this as I have a plan to mountain bike bikepack the Claonaig to Campbelltown bit next month. Do you think it'll be too overgrown?
Hi Dave, I cannot be certain because I am not from the area but from what I saw I think it will be doable. In places there are some defined paths that have been worn which I imagine will suite. I would reach out to the local tourist board and ask †hem to recommend places more suitable for mountain biking and any observations they have because they should be pretty well informed. Try them in Campbeltown because I am sure they will have an office given the amount of hiking tourism in the area. It sounds like a fun adventure so I wish you well! All the best.
Great video
Now there is a thought!
I loved the rain and cold, got my PB in this race! Saw a couple of my friends in the video too. Great memories!
Well done Mian it was great and a novelty to run a marathon at that time of day. so glad you got a PB.
Congratulations....Tromsø is amazing 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🏃🏻🏃🏻🏃🏻👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
So true! if only I thought to say that!!!!
wonderful! such a fab recap of the marathon :) I actually loved running in the rain
Hi Mim great to hear from you! Yes I generally like the rain. There was a time when Bronwyn and I took it in turns passing each other then she saw me off towards the end :). Let me know your next international. I have Casablanca in October and am looking at others. Any suggestions anyone?
@@runwiththerunners8152 I'm off to run the NYC marathon for the 6th time in November ! Happy running to you :) i am looking forward to your next installment!
@@mimbenjamin1071 Fabulous! I will try to get in New York again next year! I also have my sights on Moscow and the Medoc and definitely Paris that I am waiting to come out. Hopefully catch up on a starting line somewhere soon!
Every time I see this I think how wonderful Marte's description of the Aurora was. I definitely want to see the Reindeer races through the streets. You were all fabulous and thank you so much for the brilliant job you and your company did keeping us refreshed!
Thank you for this! Hard race. I had a very similar race to yours (although I did stop and walk at times!!) I finished within a minute of you (and can just see myself at the finish). I'm glad to hear of someone else who had to change goals from a sub 4hr to just trying to get through before the course closed. Well done!
Congratulations and well done Maisie! When the stats came through I could see it was the last 5K where I lost most ground. I recall the turn at the airport when we did that loop and ice cold rain was then blowing full on in my face. I saw two ladies with bare middles and shorts and had real respect for them. They seemed to be doing OK though. I do hope they finished ok with good times but I did wonder how they felt given I was so cold and worried about them If you recognise yourselves please do let me know you finished well. I have true respect for you! I was absolutely freezing. I think I may have been edging towards a cold before I ran but I had a full top on and skins on my legs. I had to scrub some of the film because it was so rain blurred you could not see anything. I have some more marathons lined up through the year so maybe see you on one of those. Thank you so much for responding and again well done. Unless you have done something like this I don't think people realise the level of endurance it takes.
I was with you every step of the way there. Completed it this weekend myself, and every shared thought, feeling and even the moans and groans, conveyed exactly what each and every one of us felt at the same times! Never again....
Well done Scott! a tremendous effort. As much as I enjoy having completed these I find that once its done its best to move on the next challenge, This weekend I am in Norway for the midnight sun marathon at Tromso because at this time of the year it is light virtually all day and night. I bet when the pain settles you will look for another. I did the Kintyre way in Scotland recently which was fun. Good luck for whichever one you choose - you know you will! Look on You Tube for a guy called Kerry Ward Ultra. He has done some 200 + marathon and filmed them! The thing is when you watch you don't feel the pain like when you are doing it feeling sick to the stomach with legs so sore ...! All the best!
Tremendous effort. Reminds me of the walks I do in the Blue Mountains. Where there is a lot of "up", there is thankfully, "down" as well. Loved the scenery and the bluebells!
Hi Jon, Got the link for your film from the Kintyre Facebook page. Great film that brought back memories of a fantastic run and weekend. I think I am on your film on the track into the finish. I remember calling to you that I'd found the 4 mile marker. I did a road trip the next day to see the views I'd missed on the run (spent most of the run looking at the ground) and got some fantastic shots of Goatfell on Arran and the Paps of Jura so did see some fantastic scenery in the end! This was my first Ultra in 15 years (a trial to see if I could still hack it as I have an entry for the Devil O' the Highlands, another Scottish Ultra with amazing views) I was over the moon to have done it and thanks to the organisers for recognising older runners. Keep on adventuring! Noreen
Hi Noreen, I remember you well and thank you for pointing out the 4 mile marker, although it seemed a long 4 miles to me. I wondered if you told me a fib because you thought I was lagging so needed an incentive! I just click into auto pilot and keep going but it is so nice to have interludes talking to people on the way round, usually as they pass me :). The scenery was truly gorgeous and and until I saw the film back myself I forgot how many times we ended up back on the beech. The Carlisle to Newcastle is certainly worth a go although when I did it I was suffering a bit from IT band syndrome so painful on the legs but like this one splendid scenery and a wonderful feeling of achievement when you complete it. I will be very interested to hear of any one else's experiences on the way round. I did meet a lovely couple at a kissing gate and they kissed each other as they went through so I thought that was a nice touch. You cannot beat a bit of romance! Good luck on your next ultra, or race. In June I am doing a marathon in Norway, Tromso called the midnight sun owing to the fact it will be light all day there at that time of year so we set off at 8pm and arrive as the sun is in the sky. I will post that one. Good luck to all the others who were with us on the day and those fabulous helpers. Particularly the lovely ladies who made a such fuss of me at Skipness and made me tea. All the best Jon.
Beautiful scenery - enjoyed the opportunity to be a virtual tourist in that beautiful place. Thanks and congrats on completing
Thank you for contributing and for your kind words I am glad you enjoyed it. As challenging as the course was it was spectacular and a landscape artists dream.
