How to adjust Fox 2.0 Coilovers for a Toyota Tacoma or any Fox 2.0
I needed to the lift up with the fox 2.0s to match my rear old man emu leaf springs. I managed to do this with just renting the coil compressor from autozone.

Getting Stuck in Mineral Basin, American Fork with a Toyota and GMC
Literally just did this today cause of your video. Super easy, and thanks for posting it cause everyone was making it out to be a big deal. Literally saved me hundreds of dollars, and it took maybe 45 minutes with going to the auto parts store to rent, then return the kit. Thanks again.
Forsure, I’m glad I could help!
Howd they fit 35s is what i wanna know
1” body lift and 0 offsetting wheels
You can get 0- offset on the wheels with 1.25” wheel spacer. Then you just have to hammer back some pinch welds behind the front tires for the full wheel travel. But it’s nothing like chopping up the cab to fit 35s on a Tacoma
So here’s a dumb question… by running the nut up towards to top, did that lower or raise your ride height?
Compressing the coil, running the nut up, Will increase ride height.
I read online if you throw these on without adjustment on a 3rd gen taco it adds 1inch to the lift; but if you do it on a 2nd gen it adds 2 Inches. Any truth to that?
I am unsure, I have only got fox 2.0 on a 2012 f150 and a 1st gen Tacoma
Aren’t the Fox 2.0 rated to 0-2” lift, any more will cause coils to bind and wear the internals faster? Also have you done a rebuild video as the 2.0 are rebuildable?
Maybe, no idea. The reason I had to crank the coils up is because after 4 years of wheeling, they started to sag, and I wanted the original height back. I haven’t done a full rebuild yet
Dope truck 💪🏼

I wheel harder than you
Nice truck. Just wondering why you went with body lift over suspension lift. I just bought a 99 taco 4x4 v6 auto that already has a tuff country front lift and a bloch in the rear. Previus owner used to run 33 but went ba k to 31 10.5 15. The steering knuckles are tuffcountry aftermarket as well. Just trying to figure out whats goingon with it.
This truck has fox 2.0 coils that are about a 2” suspension lift. But to fit wide 33s and 35 inch tires you need more clearance, so I did a 1.5” body lift. The tuff country lifts can be weird, they usually are just cheap blocks inbetwen the suspension and may mess up your suspension. Or they do a diff drop in the front, but keep the stock drive shaft and that can mess stuff up. I have since sold this truck, but I also had old man emu leaf springs in the back.
But I would recommend against the fox 2.0 coils in the front. They are pretty expensive, hard to adjust and not the beefiest. Probably stick with blisteens or old man emu coils if you buy some.
@@toyotabros6860 thanks. I might go the used route like you did. Guy on marketplace is selling jba I think upper control Arms and fabtech 2 lift coils for around 500. I definitely would like To go with some old man emu springs in the rear. Idk what's going on in the front or how it's lifted or the reason for the aftermarket knuckles.
I had SPC upper control arms and they did fine. But the rubber boot on both sides it break. The reason for after market knuckles is Toyota stopped making them for the gen 1 tacomas. So if they break, you have to buy after market. I still had the stock knuckles and wheel bearings at 230k miles. And I was wheeling on 35s a little after this video was taken.
I have a 100series but it ain’t no rock crawler
Hello, I need your help, I have this suspension on my 2017 Ranger, is this adjustment for the height or for the hardness of the spring?
By adjusting the springs as shown in the video. The ride height will increase. And the stiffness of the spring will increase as well.
@@toyotabros6860 Ok, but even increasing the height as much as possible, is it still a comfortable suspension?
Wish I could get my rear bumper that high, but I need my tow bar!
Beside towing Broken jeeps, we don’t tow with it that much. But it is pretty high. It’s the same height as the frame.
Is this a i4 or i5 ? Ik some of the single cabs came with the i5
This is a I5
Is it better than 4Runner Trd pro? Thxs
Much better
Do you have lockers in that or just ATRAC? Any issues with the front diff?
This truck didn’t come with ATRAC. At the time of filing in had the stock rear locker, but shortly after filming we installed a front locker.
Fox told me you move the nut 1/4” to gain about 3/4” of hight but if you went a full inch maybe they don’t know what they are talking about. They also told me o could just lift the truck up and they should turn but I couldn’t get it to move.
It really depends on the nut distance to height gain. Mine could’ve of been different because I am running 1.25” wheel spacers, with center offset wheels. Also my shocks are about 4 years old. Yes, on the fox 2.0 with aluminum threads, they won’t spin with any load on them, you have to take them out of the truck, which is a real pain.
drop your bloody tyre preassures, try 16psi
No
Did you re gear?
Yes, the 33% increase at the transfer case, and then 4.56s in the diff.
I'm looking at buying a 100 series right now, other than the tires what else did you do to suspension? The one I'm looking at is stock
It has old man emu suspension, with the torsion bars cranked in the front. 1 inch body lift. They are great SUVs, this one has over 400k miles!
Just get 245’s, no lift or modifications required
245/85/16s are smaller. And I didn’t want that.
I hope no one does what this guy did here....
Do you want to tell me why? This truck now sits on 35s, front arb locker, and 4.88 gears. No problem, and it wheels harder than 99% of people on the trail. Or do you just say stupid stuff without backing it up with information?
100 Series is a beast…
It should be hitting 400k miles this winter on it. Same engine and transmission.

Question bro, I have a 2000 Tundra w/ stock suspension. So it has that little front nose dive. Was gonna throw these 2.0s in the front. Will that level the truck? Or will I still need spacers?
When I threw the 2.0s onto my Tacoma straight out of the box, it leveled the truck. But since the old leafs springs in the back we’re sagging, it made the front ride 1/4” higher than the back. But in theory the fox 2.0s should level the truck. And no spacer should be needed.
These fox coils are stiffer than stock, but not as stiff as Old Man Emus. But ether option is fine. Also, I have blown out skyjackers and stock Toyota shocks on trails. But after 5 years, the coils are still good. As well as the fox shocks in the back.
And if your back leafs are sagging, I really like the Old Man Emu leaf springs in the back, but I took one leaf out of the pack to make it ride smoother, and it was pretty good
@@toyotabros6860 okay sweet. Appreciate the quick response brotha 🤙🏽
What if I want to lower my car do I still need to use the coil over compressor?
You could try it using WD-40 and a hammer. But it still might not work. I tried lowering a f150 with fox 2.0s and the coils didn’t budge. We had to take them off.
Dope! Just deflate the tire just a little more
Any lower and we started loosing significant ground clearance when going over rocks
Completely different topic. Are those shocks’ lower rod ends bushing or spherical bearings? Checking for aftermarket LCA compatibility
I am not sure, but i do have the fox serial number for the lower bushing Bearing - 001-00-023 Retaining ring -038-00-092 Rubber o ring 029-00-321 When I google the bearing serial number, it comes back as a spherical bearing.
I am sure it’s a spherical type.
@@toyotabros6860 Thanks and thanks for the video. I think I am ready for this upgrade!
I’ve got the same cruiser, color and everything. I love that front bumper. Any chance you could tell me if you made it or where to find one?? Thank you!
We made this one our selves. A couple years it was worth the money building your own bumper. But recently with metal being so expensive it might not be. I bought my Tacoma rear bumper from “Marlin crawler” and it wasn’t that much more expensive than if I were to build it myself. We will try to do a video on this cruisers front and rear bumper.
Awesome! Thank you
Might be a dumb question but its not 1 for 1 right? For example, if I need 1 inch of lift I do turn the spanner nut 1 inch?
The distance from the wheel hub to the lower control pivot point is about twice long from the distance to the pivot point to the shock. With my 1.5" wheel spacers it created just over a 2" lift. But remember, the fox 2.0 coil come stock with a 1.5" lift from the factory ( I think).
It comes 2 inch from the factory!@@toyotabros6860
Would you be able to make a video on the rear bumper and swing out?
For sure, I’ll see what we can do. It’s a pretty interesting bumper because we also had to reenforce the whole back end of the truck. Because in a previous trip we bent the frame pulling it out of mud.
I’ve got the same cruiser, color and everything. I love that front bumper. Any chance you could tell me if you made it or where to find one?? Thank you

Very nice 🎉
Toyota FOR EVER 😮
Awesome bro..!!!!
How much lift did you get at 3” of threads? Doing mine rn 😂
It went from 4.5” from fender to tire to around 6.5”. But I had SPC uppers and 1.5 wheel spacers
And 3” was a bit stiff for my truck since I don’t have any camping gear in it. I would maybe see how they feel stock or not more than 2.5, unless you are carrying a bunch of stuff
How many threads is stock height? Mine came pre set at 2” lift
Does the Land Cruiser have A-TRAC or a rear locker? I"m heading to fins next week with ATRAC only on my '05 LC. Great video. Thanks.
I think at this point we only had a rear locker, but recently we put in a harrop front locker
