The 90-Day Plan: How to Ensure New Hire Success (or Quickly Identify a Bad Fit)

The onboarding process is a critical phase that sets the tone for a new hire's experience and long-term organizational success. However, many businesses make the mistake of viewing onboarding as a one-time event rather than a continuous process. Common mistakes include assuming the job is complete once the new person is hired, failing to give systematic training and assistance, and failing to define clear performance objectives and goals. By overlooking these essential elements, organizations risk disengaging new hires, missing opportunities for integration, and eventually facing costly hiring mistakes.
In this week’s solo episode, Eric discusses the mistakes employers make in hiring. He starts the conversation with the first mistake: the hiring process as a one-time job. He explains how an active support system can help prevent disappointment and foster a positive start for both the new hire and the organization. Then he talks about having a structured onboarding process that can help the new employee acclimate to the organization and understand their role and responsibilities. Eric also explains how you can identify any issues early on and provide necessary support by asking about employees’ positive and negative experiences, clarity on their roles, and their ability to contribute. He also explains “The 90-day High-Performance Dashboard,” which is a structured framework designed to guide new hires during their initial three months in an organization.
EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS
01:02 The mistake of thinking that the hiring process is over once they are on board.
02:30 The structured onboarding process.
05:00 Ensuring the new people are adjusting to the team and culture.
05:46 The 90-day High-Performance Dashboard.
08:00 The assessment of new hires.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Recognize that hiring a new employee is just the beginning of the process, not the end.
- Implement a structured onboarding process for new hires.
- Prioritize ongoing check-ins with new hires during their first month.
- Assess a new hire's fit within the first 90 days.
- Encourage open communication during the onboarding process.

Excellent Review. We provide care to older people at home, and I have identified some principles that we can apply in a heavily regulated sector in the UK. Thank you
This good video
Nice sir
Great points. Heavy lift, but super valuable.
Yep. It has to be done. Once you get it in place, systematized and practiced it'll yield great results.
Is this 21 questions
I teach a General Leadership course for High School students. Thank you for this terrific discussion and great examples of how to shift your mindset and move fluidly between command/control and coaching.
That's awesome. Glad you found it helpful.
Elon Musk? No thanks.

Good points.
Very informative!
@@kiltedpiper98 Glad you liked it. Thanks for checking it out.
This was very informative and valuable - the alternative risk tools are being ignored and need to be presented more. Thank you for this!
My pleasure. 831(b) isn't for everyone, but it's great for the right fit.

They hide their incompetence with poor decision making, which they will then blame others for
Sucks when that happens.
You forgot, "They were never trained for their roles."
I'll be honest, when i saw the title I thought to myself "Oh this poor woman is going to be quickly replaced by AI". After watching the video, boy was I wrong.
Yep. AI doesn't replace deep understanding and skill.
Nice new chaneel
As a builder, we couldn't agree more. True innovation is driven by a need, followed by a clear solution. Not fabricating the need to be bigger than it is to justify something new. Personally, as a builder, I think. there's a lot of innovation opportunities on a job site that are small, but have large impacts. My take on why Katerra's desire to vertically integrate is that they were doomed from the beginning. They lacked focus. But how could they focus when every building is unique and will pull them into all sorts of directions. Vertical integration works when you have a single product you're offering - for example, say you have an incredibly successful burger establishment. It would make sense to buy a farm, the bakery. Pre-fab is great for a track home builder, for someone repeating the same style over and over, that's the heart of a production line. That's where efficiency is. We strive on making the job site more efficient, and I can tell you, there's thousands of things that would make an impact prior to needing to go down the road with pre-fab in a factory.
Yep. Misdefine the product, misunderstand the problem, offer the wrong solution.
Hey Eric, great explanation on the business model, looking from the point of a business analyst, what value do you think can bid automation and stock and equipment maintenance and management through AI can bring to the business?
Big question. Use tech to solve problems and add value. That's the focus.
Cool ❤❤❤
Thanks

This is why you don’t notice each gay character being smart, each dad being an a**hole, each girl being strong and independant, dispraportional amounts of black male “actors” who are there just to fill the quota. Agendas are being introduced subtly. I do not blame americans for being reduced to passive consumers of overly flashy stimuly

What are some top ways to 3x or 5x our salary after joining the company ? In small or big companies how it works as some top players of the team star individuals say it's possible so what's their secret or methods to reach that goal.. apart from being good at our craft which skills and traits are needed..
Solve problems, add value, out work everyone. Keep it simple, and consistently build your technical skills and personal network. One final thing: ask yourself every day "what am I doing to justify my paycheck and make myself indispensable?"
Great content, thanks guys!
