I like to make videos reviewing technology and filming car trips. I'm starting slow but if I get enough support I will continue making videos.

2023 Model X Ownership Experience Likes and Dislikes

We bought this car December 2022 as a 2023 model. It is one of the last ones with the ultrasonic sensors. This video is hastily put together of just what I noticed during our ownership. We no longer own the car so I can't make more detailed videos. Overall it is a good car and I would love to own it again someday.

This is my first car. Not a very spectacular video cause there isn't much to this car, but I wanted to remember my first car and all the issues it had. Even though I can grab the keys to any other car my family has, I always go for the keys to this.

Amateur Tries to Restore Headlights

Decided to finally try and restore these headlights since they've been turning yellow. I did the first side a couple weeks prior and noticed that it was brighter on that side with the clean headlights. I basically followed Chris Fix's video but wanted to show how an amateur would do it.

Would you buy it again? Currently thinking of buying
I personally would. I say it is still great for day to day. I never fully got used to the rear doors since I didn't use it every day but I don't know if it would make me hate them more or appreciate it more.
Nice video. One advice from me - read the car manual. Before sharing yours options about the car you own. You may be surprised. For example: "You can change Rear View Monitor Display Contents by touching the setup icon ( ) on the screen while Rear View Monitor is operating, or selecting Setup > Vehicle > Driver Assistance > Parking Safety > Camera Settings from the Settings menu in the infotainment system while the engine is on. In the Display Contents, you can change settings for Extended Rear View Monitor and Rear View Parking Lines. Extended Rear View Monitor Keeps displaying the rear view when shifting from R (Reverse) to N (Neutral) or D (Drive). When exceeding a certain speed, the rear view stops displaying."
Oh my good point. I only had it for a couple days and somehow completely forgot to check that....
Nice job Sir!
Thank you for the video. I recently replaced the rear actuator in my UL 2001. Like you, I had to move the window regulator to create extra space while removing the entire locking assembly. I rolled the window to the top and secured it with tape before unbolting the window regulator. However, during reinstallation, I couldn’t align the four bolts for the window regulator without turning on the ignition and rolling the regulator down slightly. It was puzzling because I hadn’t touched the regulator before reinstalling it. Ultimately, rolling down the regulator helped align the holes for the bolts. Afterward, I rolled the regulator back up. The actuator and soft close functions work perfectly. However, the auto function button on the door for the window regulator keeps rolling the window down halfway when it reaches the top. I’ve tried various online calibrations without success. Have you encountered the same issue after installation?
I've fixed this problem. It seems the window regulator becomes misaligned when moved/unbolted. You need to remove the window regulator motor and reset it. Then install it on the regulator on tooth nr 9. This will fix the auto button issue. There is a video on youtube explaining, how to reset it,
Do you still have this car?
No, I sold it last year.
🔥🔥🔥👍
yooooi
hayyyyy
Where do you live
Amazing work but generally mechanics are not ready to replace the motor but the whole actuator.
Yep. Most will not replace just the motor as it takes a long time. It was definitely fun working on this.
Wow.. very nice information and stopped working after 3 days..
Oh no! Yours stopped working? Mine is still going strong.
Quietist car meet evet
In the States it's the G20 but mostly elsewhere it's the Nissan Primera. I have an interest in this car but I've saw in many reviews, owners talking about serious loss in power while driving. Have you ever had any similar experience?
I haven't experienced any loss in power while driving. It definitely isn't very powerful though.
@@patrickscarventures6508 cool, thanks for the feedback.
Problem is the automatic transmission, this engine with the manual is awesome
They are allowed to go the wrong way....
Bro! I'm about to make this trip, how many day did the trip last.
I need to do this on mine haha ty man !
Nice break down on the cost, I would say that you left out the insurance cost on your Tesla compared to a quote of equal coverage of the BMW.
How long did this trip take you?
Cool! I have the same car, and planning the same trip almost exactly one year later than you. But we will almost certainly drive straight through, as we're visiting family, and have made the trip several times in the past in other cars.
Was your door jammed shut when the motor failed if so how did you get the door open without damaging the lock
No it wasn't jammed. You can just use your hand to unlock the door from the inside. This was just the mechanism for using the button to unlock the door
Oh okay mine has soft close and I have changed one door lock already second hand because motor failed kept making crazy noises once in ignition and door was shut and now its done it again and I hope changing the motor for new will sort it?
@@alamzeb9464 This one is also soft close doors. This motor replacement fixes the lock not being able to be locked/unlocked using the key or the buttons inside. If your door remains shut, it is likely a different issue.
Hi thanks for the reply but I fixed this issue by replacing the door lock and to get the door open I had to take the door card off with the door closed very challenging and then hit at the place where the motor sits and the door opened so the issue is related with the motor will replace it today and let you know seems to be a very common issue
I have the exact one, can it by chance have upgrades or no ?
Mt Vernon lol
Props for knowing it’s Pike and not Pike’
Those finger nails though
Does this fix the soft close feature my door is not closing at all and I had to ratchet strap it closed destroying my door panel

With so many bugs on the car during your trip, did you consider paint protection, or do you already have it?
I considered getting full PPF but it was too expensive. For some reason I didn't think about just front PPF so I ended up not doing it at all. I might try a self install front PPF on my next car though
@@patrickscarventures6508 I'm in the process of getting a Model 3 SR+, Teslarati has a lot conv about PPF, so going by your experience so far, may I take away that it is not really a must have?
@@manikandannagarajan6029 Definitely not a must have. If you care about your paint, I would install it. It was too expensive for me to think it was worth it. I do have a lot of rock chips on the front, but it is a daily driver so I figured it was ok. I also hand wash my car so I see them. My family doesn't notice the chips.
@@patrickscarventures6508 thank you 😊👍
I can’t wait to do this when I get mine!!
Do you have a link to the exact motor part required?
The link is always changing because it is just someone on eBay selling it. If you search for the part number, it'll come up (10mm D Flat Shaft, FC-280PC-22125)
You could technically say any word after the word “open” as long as it isn’t trunk, etc. for example, you could say “open unicorn” and it would open the charge port.
Good
It's nice to see someone that will tackle a project like this head on AND with clarity on what to look for to make the process go smoother. Nice Job!
Death to every car company that isnt toyota/lexus
thanks for the update. You've got a few annoying issues. I hope they work out. After 14 months with mine so far I don't have issues, but they happen. I guess they happen with every car. Good luck.
good stuff bro.. just had a test drive on my friends model x (model y owner). Model X was very spaceship like :P
Thanks for making this video! I just swapped out the front passenger motor on my '05 LS. S2kandtheAnt and Rust Belt Auto's videos were great to get me started, but as mine is also an Ultra Luxury the steps were different once I got the actuator out. Your video was really helpful at that stage, as I was feeling very lost when I couldn't get the bottom electrical connector off. Your explanation on keeping it attached and breaking open the seal on the actuator was very helpful!
I'm glad it helped! Definitely scary and confusing when you pull it out and realize it is so much bigger than the non-UL version
Thanks for the great video😁 for next time, please post final numbers on the screen at the end. Kms, cost of charging, and wh/km ( or miles).
I have a 2020 Sr+ so I just want to compare🤑
@@radio_nowhere Ah sorry, I used to do it but this was such a long trip it was harder to do it. Total miles 2,472 Total kWh 578 Wh/mi 234 4 people in the car with suitcases Cost of charging Tesla supercharger: $162.4, 550 kWh (prices varied from $0.2-$0.48/kWh) Other chargers: ~$20. Hey man love the vids, keep up the good work. I love you Tesla car meet video especially.
I'll definitely try to make a better one for the next meet I go to!
@@patrickscarventures6508 yeah definitely, I really want to get a Tesla for myself
why the fuck would they open the hoods. what a waste id rather go to a ricers car meet
Ricer meets are cool but it's also cool seeing what others have done to their Tesla's
@@patrickscarventures6508 add stickers?
@@lmentrix5438 why hate? It’s nice to see what wraps/mods people put on their car. The Duracell battery under the hood was creative. It’s casual fun!
Good video. I actually found the rear a lot easier than the front door. That bar on the front door that goes along where the actuator is, was an absolute pain in the ass. But how do you get your alarm to chime when you lock the door on the fob? I’ve read everywhere and can’t find it.. it’s at 12:22
The car had that set ever since we bought the car. I thought all Toyota cars made that sound by default.
Look on the lower portion of the dashboard where your right knee would be when sitting in the driver's seat. There is a rotary knob. That knob is used to adjust the volume of the 'beep' when locking/unlocking the vehicle via the keyfob. I'm not sure which direction to turn the knob, but it should be simple enough to figure out if clockwise or counterclockwise gives louder 'beep' volume.
*everyone gangsta till they need to charge* lol
wait, what if a faster car comes and joins? yall gonna be so sad lol
Haha sure we do need to stop and charge. I personally don't love Tesla just for performance though. Day to day ownership still beats other cars simply because there is no maintenance.
@@patrickscarventures6508 Reliability? You mean those wheels with special tyres you need to specifically bring to tesla to have it changed?
@@Georgealex77 Here in the US, you don't need to go to Tesla to have the tires changed. Just any old tire shop can get a new set of tires. You don't need the special foam filled ones either.
How do you call this motor Any name pls thank you?
