Later on, Data is defeated when the crew answers the password recovery question: "What is the name of your pet?"

His short perfectly timed pauses before he says: "It is green." is absolute genius. He is a great actor.

Ha! Data said the same thing Scotty said to the alien he drank under the table in the OG series.

From the look in Scotty's eye this guy is lucky he wasn't hit with the glass. Giving non-alcoholic Scotch to a Scotsman is a life threatening situation.

I suspect Data would have been able to tell but the TOS reference was just too good to pass up and it made the scene all the better for it.

It's a nod to the episode that Scotty drank an alien under the table. He brings out a bottle and when the alien asks what it is he says "it's green!" Original series and bloody hilarious 😂

Now thats the shit... ahhhhhh. SOOO many times I have felt that at off base hole in the walls... Such a great feeling.

That's a little IN joke....Scotty said the exact same thing when he was trying to get an alien hammered in TOS.

got to love a good TOS callback particularly when it is double layers like this.

The scene is an Easter Egg for a scene in the TOS episode "A Rose by any Other Name", where Scotty tries to dink one of the Kelvas who've commandeered the Enterprise under the table.

Definitely a call back to the original series. Season 2 Episode 21, "By Any Other Name". In this episode, Scotty works towards distracting a captor by drinking him under the table. After consuming two bottles of liquor, the alien is still upright so a very tipsy Scotty produces a third bottle that he can only describe as "green".

Great reference to an episode of tos where scotty is drinkinh with an alien and pulls out a bottle and says it is green

I knew there was something familiar about this scene even the first time I saw it broadcasted on TNG... It's almost exactly the same scene from TOS when Scotty used up all his alcohol in his room on the Enterprise and was down to 1 bottle of something that was green... When asked by the alien what it was he thought for a moment and said, "It is green"... I'm not sure but I believe the bottle is exactly the same shape...

The other one was blue. It was Windex.
