@@SpAcEcruizer203 hell yeah!!
Good video. My nibbi carb is getting installed today. I was debating between the 24 and the 22, but the 22 makes more sense, and from what I understand, it's easier to tune. You are definitely right. You don't need a bigger carburetor to make enough power.
@@j-rollz yeah I definitely noticed more response out of the 22mm I haven’t tested the 24mm but I can definitely say that a 26mm mikuni clone vs a 22mm nibbi, the nibbi outperforms the 26mm
@JamesOnWheels Did you have to re-jet on either bike, or was it just adjustments?
@@j-rollz on the clone I went 40 pilot and stock main
First love the video! But caught something the might have been missed, the plastic isolator, between intake and carb, it started out with an o-ring, then the o-ring was missing resulting in it being placed in backwards. The o-ring on the carb should have been against the flat side of the plastic isolator, and then the "missing' o-ring on the isolator against the intake pipe. Am I missing something? BTW, do some speed runs with new nibbi, we'll love it!!!!
@@MyMotorcycleBlog yeah I thought the same thing too when I was putting it on, it didn’t sit flush with 2 o rings, is it supposed to be 2 o rings? Cuz it doesn’t leak air with just the 1 o ring in place
@@JamesOnWheels No air leak is good, first. But later in the video I see you flipping the black plastic piece with NO o-ring, unlike at start of video. If it's not broke, no need to fix. But if an airleak develops, first place I would look and just put in a new o-ring later. Love the vid!
@@MyMotorcycleBlog i ended up putting the o ring that goes on the intake side after you told me

@JamesOnWheels I have the same bike as you, the boss motor vader special edition. The thing won't stay on when I put it in gear so I'm going to over haul it completely all at once. Did you have this issue? I think I may have a kinked fuel line, I'm going to go through the whole bike and find out.
Does it clear the drain bolt compared to the stock exhaust? I hate loosing my exhaust to do my oil😂
@@unpredictableiiiyeah it clears it
If anything when you do drain your oil put foil on your exhaust so it doesn’t burn when the exhaust gets hot

Brother James , I been watching you Hella.. You’re the reason I purchased my very own Boom Vader as my daily. I just took my endorsement course and am now licensed on motorcycles. Boom Vader is my first bike. Look.. it’s a long shot asking this , BUT… Can you help me install my nibbi carb , 17T sprocket , & do the emissions delete? You don’t even have to touch anything man, just sit down and show me what to do. I watched multiple TH-cam videos including a lot of yours & I’m just hella scared to take it apart and I break something man. I got the after market parts I just don’t got tools and the actual step by step knowledge. I know we don’t know each other man, but it’d mean a lot man. I live on JBLM , I’m active duty brother. I can maybe sponsor you to come to my house and help me? Or I meet you some place and we knock it out ? I don’t know man, I just know you’re in my area of Washington. I just PCS’d here so I don’t know much people to even ask man. Called around at shops and they are charging 800-1000$ saying it might take a week and it may not work the way I want it too when I get it back. Idk man, I’m stuck rn. Could really use the help man..
I feel crazy even asking man.. I just really wish I had help from someone who actually done it before to the boom Vader specifically. Please lmk what you think brother, thank you in advance 🙏🏾 #GodSpeed
@@davanteperez7792 of course bro I got you, we can knock it out this weekend if you really wanted to bro

I messaged you on messenger but I don’t know if that’s you
@@JamesOnWheels but yo, do you have the tools needed to do the emissions delete, install the carb, change the sprocket , & the throttle cable along with nibbi throttle? Because I sold all my tools when I PCS’d from Alaska. I didn’t have much to begin with not going to lie
Yo I just followed what you said and registered it in Washington. How did you get it under insurance? I called USAA & they can’t seem to find the model of the boom Vader. What insurance did you use brother?

Maybe your chain is too long?
@@supsuperman sounds like the bolts from the rear axle where they mount on the flywheel aren't put on correctly homie, not 100% but that's what I'd assume. I'd recommend taking it apart again, putting the stock sprocket back on, and seeing if you still have the issue. If so, I'm probably correct and that's an easy fix! If not, I mean it could be that sprocket but that just doesn't seem likely.

Yeah because your gonna be topping it off everytime you bled each brake
You never wanna go empty in the reservoir
Great video James! You hit where many miss - by providing socket sizes and torque specs. I also liked the trip with the hammer, though I always use a rubber mallet as it softens the blow a little and helps avoid misses. I've subbed and look forward to more great videos. Keep up the great work sir!
Mannnn thank you, I really appreciate you watching my videos
Are both top and bottom bolts the same length?
Yeah it’s the same size they’re both class 8 M8 1.25x 120mm bolts
@JamesOnWheels thank you yeah i had my bottom one sheer out yesterday as i was riding from the bolt end going to change today
@@unpredictableiii good luck on the change, lemme know how it goes
How did you get the bottom bolt passed the exhaust bracket that's in the way😂
So at 2:09 I remove the exhaust, I thought I had it on video of when I took the bolt out but, your gonna need a friend (in which case was my girl) to lift up the tail of the bike and while he’s holding it up your gonna hammer out the bolt which will come out the exhaust side
Is this a carb motor ?
Yeah it’s a carb motor but easy to work on
thinking about ordering one of these your videos are helping me decide yes more and more
They’re worth it bro 2k mile review coming up
I was just changing the main jet but the whole piece came out including a part that was up in there I’m not sure which way it goes don’t want put it wrong way n messes up my performance
Does it look like the piece at 1:16 of the video, if so use the method in the video on how I took off the main jet, which is just a small piece that has a flat head slot that screws on to the piece on the wrench I’m holding
@@JamesOnWheelsnaw bro in my vm22 there’s two different things that fell out, the main long piece , the jet ofc, and above that a smaller lil brass piece and there’s a short side and a long side idk what that is or which way it goes in because it just fell out
Dang it’s hard, since I can’t see a picture of what you talking about,
So there’s no oil filter ?
There’s is no oil filter cartridge on these grom clones
They use some type of screen that’s already in the engine, I’ll make a video once i figure out where it’s located
@@JamesOnWheelsdoes your engine have another bolt (14mm) next to the oil drain bolt there at the bottom? Mine does and it's spring loaded, which is where the filter is supposed to be if it is even supposed to have a filter. I pulled that bolt and no filter/screen came out with the spring and bolt like how I've seen on some of these other minis. Unless it's a permanent filter that's stuck upward inside the engine, idk I didn't think to look up into the bolt hole when I pulled it. I'll update y'all when I do my next oil change
@@MalevolentMuk please do because I’m still trying to find where the filter is, I heard it is built in though
Won't the fender hit the air filter?
I actually took my stock air box and used that instead, because the pod sounds too loud, I’ll do a video on that on how I used the stock airbox

About to hit 2k miles lol still going strong no issues
@@JamesOnWheels they always pop up cheap because people get them, leave the stock carb, which they don’t know how to work on, then they quit working, and they sit in a corner till they sell them lol. I should get one just to work on balance point and stuff since I’ve thrown too many thousands in go fast parts on the actual grom and I’d rather not oops that one. Problem is 8 out of 10 people in my area never get them titled and then lose the MCO paperwork. Idk. I’m rambling. Just trying to talk myself out of going on marketplace to buy one 😂
@@ghettosled1976 they best you can do is low ball cuz honestly if they are asking for 1500 used that’s a rip, I didn’t even pay for the much shipped to my door lol, I payed for mine 1200 brand new shipped, some people definitely don’t know how to work on carbs, but this bike definitely taught me a lot on how it it works, and of course TH-cam university 😝
@@JamesOnWheels do you happen to know where the speedo pickup is on these? Is it on the front tire, or the motor? Wondering if changing sprockets throws the speedo off like it does on a grom.
@@ghettosled1976 the speedo is on the left side of the front wheel, it’s like a black circle thing that acts like a spacer for your wheel and it has a black wire that goes up to the gauge cluster
Love how you are keeping real with showing the struggle with the muffle reducer tricking you, before you figured to remove it. :D BTW, looking at how you mounted the muffler band, did you drill a hole in the rear set?
No I didn’t drill into the rear set, the springs actually was so strong that it kept the exhaust from moving any direction, the muffler band screw is actually pushing on to the rear set, and that’s because the springs are keeping it from moving, I don’t know if I explained it right so you can get an image, but drilling into the rear set is not a bad idea haha
I've broke the stock lower bolt, and replaced it, later upgrading(drilling out) to a larger bolt. Have had any problems torquing to 40?
Nope i looked up what the grom specifications were and it’s between 35-40 but I haven’t had an issue, 1500 miles later and it’s still holding on Pretty good
@@JamesOnWheels I actually broke a replacement 3/8'th grade 8 bolt. Trying to figure if fluke or I messed up torquing it. Thanks for reply.

Driver license is fine
Could you pls make a video of how you mounted your airbox on your grom clone. Need help just purchased one. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks 👍
Yeah I can do that I got you, be on the look out for it the next couple days
@@JamesOnWheels Thanks again .
You need to wear gear bro especially on the highway.
I usually do, I forgot it all in the car when I got dropped off to pick up the bike
Every boom Vader should be stock with a 17-tooth front sprocket.
It should lol, but eventually I went with a 16 teeth cuz I needed torque and I still kept the top speed
The cutting of the chain guard is only needed when you change the chain to a larger diameter to allowed clearances of the chain you just removed with a bigger linkage to run freely on theses 125cc bikes. This is a 125cc bike, that same chain on the bike with a 17- front sprocket and same chain is more than willing to pull the extra torque. The installment of a 15 to 17 front Sprocket only needs adjustment in the rear wheel displacement.
@@billfish9553 not true cuz when I changed it out to a 17t, the first thing I noticed when I went out for a ride was the chain hitting the chain guard, which is why I had to cut it
I don’t know if we’re on the same page
But the 17t and 16t is night and day difference, the 16t gave me more torque going up hills at any gear, the 17t I had to down shift to 2nd just to get up the hill
Where’s the link to the new exhaust?
The one that I got is from Amazon but it’s currently unavailable

@@JamesOnWheels thanks man
Of course I got ylu
Do you have to register it ?
Now I’m not gonna tell you not too, because if you don’t register there’s alot negative things you gotta think about, like when you get pulled over for example you have no paperwork to show, but when you register it it’s better for you, because you get a title which on paper says you now own the bike, which is good when you decide to sell it because it’s gonna be easier for you sell, that’s just some things to think about
But yes to answer your question in short, I recommend registering the bike
