By the 16th July 1978 The IBA had decommissioned the old Colour Control Room at Croydon and converted it to a Regional Operations Centre. The First of 4 ROC's Commissioned by the IBA that went into service in the Summer of 1976 . The IBA Engineering Announcements in the Summer of 76 reported that there would be No More Test Card Transmissions until Further Notice . This was due to the replacement of the Slide Scanner and the 2x EMI Tape decks and and Argoss 700 Computer responsible for the automations of Transmitters in the ITV London Anglia and Southern Regions in the Apparatus room at Croydon.

Thanks for uploading this. It’s a great look back to the past. TV seemed less hectic and had a slightly slower pace to it. There was more of these types of intervals. Shows had longer intros and even had their credits run in full, without being squashed up to show what’s coming up next. I’m ‘only’ 44 but I miss the national anthem being played at the end of an evening and the channel actually ending. These days it’s just non-stop, rammed into your eyeballs.

i remember they always used to put on the 'reggae' ident whenever any black themed tv shor was about to start.. *cringe* it's like...puttng a heavy metal theme before the start of Dallas or Dynasty. Stereotypically dumping an entire race into one genre white people = heavy metal black people = reggae.
