Red clover fixes N to the soil which feeds the grass and in return reduces the amount of chemical N needed. So no red clover does not need fertiliser but applying fertiliser will do no harm, it will only help the grass and clover and encourage them to keep growing. Red clover could be grown without any fertiliser. Since it produces its own N, you would still get a decent crop off of it.

It took 3 runs then it got a forth run to bury in the barley, oats and peas.

That’s a very good point but everyday is a learning day so when we replace the back discs I’ll make sure it’s propped up properly. 👍🏻

In the next video we mini-till some lay ground in to barley so that’s about as close to no-till as we’ve gone but maybe in the future we might go down the no-till route.

It’s looking like temperatures are getting warmer so that’ll do a lot of good to all the corn sown recently.

We’ve never used ours for dairy washings but down South I’ve heard of it being done. So I’d say it depends on the specs of the irrigator.

I’m fairly sure that it depends on what treatment is used but with the urea based treatment we used, you are meant to cover which we did but I didn’t video it.

To be honest it hasn’t turned out great. The ground was lacking in nutrients so the grass had a slow start and a few weeds got up in it so we didn’t get a cut of silage off it but instead it will be grazed and we’ll get a cut of silage off it early next year.

I done a good bit of reseeding this year p and k and lime was index 3 and 4.still got plenty of 10 10 20 and lime.but it still didnt come well at all.did you ever hear tell or see where it failed because grass was sowed 2 deep?

@michaelfinnegan2161 The grass sown in this video was only on the surface barely covered so definitely wasn’t seed depth that made it suffer. But I have heard from people that sowing grass too deep can damage it but I’ve never experienced it first hand.

What is that on the front of the Case ? Is it a landleveler on the front with discs on the back ?

@markocarroll9424 Yeah, it’s a homemade land leveller we call it a drag because it drags the soil but the combination of the land leveller and discs does a great job at levelling ground!
