The holy blast didn't affect Bez because he was working on the side of good. There are deep philosophical issues on this movie that can only be appreciated by long time D&D gamers whose character progression can only be earned by being faithful to one's alignment: good versus evil and lawful versus chaotic. It takes high wisdom points to appear evil outwardly but being good secretly. We always see evil people pretending to be good in real life. This movie shows that good people are capable of similar deception to defeat evil men.
I don't think you mentioned "rogue" at all, but The Planeswalker's Handbook (2e) introduced rogue modrons as a playable race. Nordom is one of these, and I suspect your Craig would be too. They're basically modrons who have been touched by chaos, or otherwise separated from the will of Primus (like Hugh from Star Trek). They're usually lawful neutral, but with their own eccentricities. They aren't quite like fallen angels or ascended fiends, but they fill a similar role lore-wise, being imperfect examples of their alignment. Such a modron could still be part of Primus's plan, or maybe they are seeking their own path. As a DM I would have a hard time allowing a normal modron as a PC, due to the lack of free will, but a rogue allows every robot/AI trope to be used as a plot point or character motivation.
@@lordpessimism that was basically what I was getting at. Playing a rogue modron. Just totally forgot that specific term in my ramblings 😁
"What fills a mans heart with NEUTRALITY!?" ZAPP BRANNIGAN
I try to always include a modron, when running a campaign. I enjoy placing a monodrone, as it’s hysterical to watch a bunch of engineers try and figure out how to make a ‘one command’ creature useful (it usually began with them telling it to do things, and the looks on their faces when it only did the last ‘statement’ spoken).. it got figured out, but the fun remained there😁 Excellent content
Thanks very much. Your story reminds me of a section of "Turn of Fortunes wheel" a woman has a Tavern in a town run by Modrons and all her staff are Monodrones. Needless to say her orders take a long time to get sorted :D

Very clever way of generating the animation by simply tiling the mesh in Tabletop simulator via OBS. Kudos

Bro you want your rapier in your off hand for the light weapon bonus everybody gets if the off hand weapon is a light weapon😂
Good to know
In the Technology section of the book, there are no stats for the laser weapons pictured on the page. Know why that is? Where might I find those?
You actually find those weapons in the 2014 Dungeon Masters Guide in chapter 9 under Firearms. Has Rules for the Laser Pistol, Antimatter Rifle, Laser Rifle as well as Smoke and Fragmentation Grenades. My guess is they did it because they didnt want to repeat equipment stats. Also if they update the weapons in future rule sets then the adventure does not go outta date.

Hey man, good stuff. I wanna get in contact with you about this. I've been wanting to run this as a DM for about 10 years, but I never managed to do it. I drew my own version of the 6 levels back then and have recently been revisiting them, they're kinda similar to the detailed maps by john but mine are mostly handrawn. I'm currently in the process of making real life models for all the monsters and the plan is to perhaps run a 3d physical session also.

Love the idea of Eye of Beholder! Love the vid man
Thanks so much!
I always thought it would be fun to blend this adventure with the Temple of the Frog adventure from Blackmoor and have a campaign that slowly grew from old school DnD into Gamma World.
A quick correction! It was 10 feet squares in the original as well. I am excited for the new very tech-stylized map design, would be interested to see how that artstyle would look like in the Dyson Logos version of the maps!
@@JazzyBassy what I was referencing was a previous video where I used a screen capture of the map from the wizards reveal video. I assumed 5ft squares (since they didn’t have that part shown) making the ship tiny in comparison to the original 😁. Think an update on the logos version would look awesome.

Heya! are you able to make the lightning video available? or send the url?! Thank you btw!
@@ThisIsLacus can do.
There you go. The video is now linked in the description.
That movie is criminally underrated and has many good moments. Thanks for giving it some love! The beautiful half-drawn quest of Danodar in the opening. Melora, that scientist, who starts out offending the gods by asking them to mend old gloves, getting what she deserved. That lich, who ultimately just wants some fun, proving Damodars first suspicions of him. The Ona scene. The arc of Lux and Nim. The arrogant but genuinely constructive group of wizards. That grotesque drow blood scene that shows that Damodar is still a monster. The chance Berek had to detect the Dorian illusion, who curses the fallen tree, which the true priest would never do. Finally the general faithfulness to AD&D in the movie's mood.
P. S.: I don't think, that the leader of the council of mages is a traitor. Look at the scene, in which he takes a bath. His servant is murdered. And as the scene ends, it is all but obvious, that Oberon is next. To be replaced by the shapeshifting Klaxx.
I'm sorry that I didn't realize we were in a pit TIM

My players ran into two big baddies. An AI contained until they released it. A jubilee like bacteria like creature that just keep absorbing and growing.
Awesome! I can’t wait to see what the new version is like from the infinite staircase book 😁
it was crap
I feel your frustration. It's painful to watch what was once a great show degenerate into what Doctor Who is now. It now has the look and feel of an incredibly amateurish community theatre production. Unless something fundamental changes, it just isn't worth watching.
Idk, maybe the doctor just didn't have the screw driver on him? Or perhaps reaching for it would have set off the mine? Considering just having an adrenaline rush nearly set it off it would be reasonable to assume that moving his arm to reach for something would definitely risk setting it off. At least that's what I assumed when watching.
Its just something that is always a go to. If they had stated a reason in the episode why it is not around. Then id not have an issue.
Nice video my dude! Keep it up man
Thanks Muchly. Shall do :D
Well this was a weird take. Sure, why react to being on another planet with that kind of sky. Child see's a hologram of her dead father - doesn't notice some green glowing lights. That's odd? I think your mind may work... uniquely. Truly excellent episode after two right stinkers.
1. Doctor was about to get blown to smithereens, a normal human wouldn’t react like she did 2. Some green glowing lights? Her father was totally green, and totally hologram. A baby would know the difference, let alone a ~10 year old
@@JamesTaylor117 A normal human being wouldn't react to a sky of a neighbouring planets and various moons? Pretty sure the reference was to her not spotting the mine as she was focused on her father; and whilst the actor was definitely too old for the part I'm very certain she wasn't oblivious to the fact he was a hologram - hence the reaction on seeing him.
@@Alex-fj7ht They would, but the degree of awe and joy doesn’t make sense when she knows her friend is moments away from death. I think the brain would ignore the sky for the most part as a result of the adrenaline etc My bad, I read your comment wrong. I don’t think her ignoring the mine is too egregious But her reaction upon seeing the hologram was as if she thought it was real, so I don’t think that makes any sense The last few years films and shows, especially under Disney, have so many logical flaws, and many people don’t seem to notice or care. I truly think society is losing IQ by the day
@@JamesTaylor117 Disney from my understanding has very little creative control over the series... Unless that has changed recently... They did give notes on the episodes, but ultimately RTD and BBC are still in control, Disney is offering more funding and in exchange has the International Distributing rights. If your having issues with the writing, then thats just that, issues with the writing. Not the company distributing it.
The kid comes across as a bad actor but I think the issue is they cast a 10 year old to play a part that seemed to be written for a 5 year old. Or in other words replace her with a 5 year old and all of her behavior makes a lot more sense. That said, I actually really enjoyed this episode. When the Doctor leaves the Tardis he actually does yell at Ruby to stay, she just doesn't hear him and he's in too much of a hurry to notice. Ruby pausing when she notices the sky. This made perfect sense to me because last month I traveled to see the solar eclipse. It was actually my second time seeing one but it was still just as awe inspiring. When you have that precious few minutes under totality, when you can look at the eclipse with your naked eye and you see the beautiful white hairs of the sun's corona stretching across the dark sky you can't help but be moved. The sky is always beautiful but the fast majority of the time it is uninteresting because there's only ever like 3 or 4 different states it can be in (not considering clouds). Daytime, Nighttime, Dusk/Dawn. The sky doesn't DO anything, there are no surprises and even our bodies are wired to some degree around this reliability. We EXPECT the sky to be a certain way and we don't notice that we expect it because it never surprises us. So du ring an eclipse when the sky does something NEW for the first (or even the second) time in your life, the AWE hits you like a biological fact. That's just from 1 alien looking object in what is otherwise just a dusky sky. So if Ruby suddenly notices that the sky is 0% like anything she has ever seen, you bet that will be another competing point of focus. Also keep in mind that her vision was previously obscured by dust. She hasn't been ignoring the sky up to that point, she couldn't see it and then she suddenly could. The Doctor takes people around time and space specifically to give people a chance to experience those moments. Yes he's on a landmine but he's actually been on one before and lived, along with thousands of other life threatening situations. And at this moment he is balanced in a way that it's not counting down and he's not yet aware of the failsafe. So when Ruby sees what he brought her here to see, the Doctor understands what she's going through and gives her a few precious seconds (that he actually can spare) because if he doesn't he'd be betraying the very reason he even travels to begin with. He even says "it flips the stomach doesn't it?" Focousing on the sky for a moment also gives him the opportunity to get a piece of the puzzle which is this is a planet that he knows to be empty and there shouldn't be a full on war at a place like this. My favorite thing about that episode was the poem the Doctor recites. I'm fairly sure it is a hypercondensed version of a story that the Third Doctor told Jo Grant where he seeks the advice of a wise monk on his darkest day and they teach him the meaning of life.
idk this feels a bit nitpicky like sure some decisions are stupid but i doesn't pull me out of the story and make it "The worst episode so far" it to me is one of the best so far. I will admit that the daughter was poorly written what probably happen was that they wrote it for a much younger actor and due to the fact that young childern are very hard to work with the casted a 12-year-old in part really made for a 5-year-old. But other then that i thought it was fine.
Yeh, I really enjoyed it. Not quite sure what he is on about half the time, cuz I kinda think a lot of it are nonissues?
sorry- it is a loosely related realty-and this season is going to put everyone on their ear- Dr Who- is always safe from jumping the shark- the only pop exception i can think of
On their ear?? Meaning??
