Enjoying the garmin? Honest review ?
I am really enjoying it, I think the data is better than I thought it was. (Somehow it got switched to metric and I didn’t notice so I thought all the data was off, but the club distances were still good). I absolutely LOVE the impact camera, easily my favorite thing about it. Home Tee Hero is fun and I’m enjoying doing these videos and kinda forcing myself to get some swings in. Once it works better with GSPro I think that will just improve the r50, and I haven’t gotten any no reads like I’ve been getting with my BLP (I think because of a reflection on my shoes)
Hi, are you able to screen record the Home Tee Hero screen through a device? It would be great to get a full screen view of the fly overs? Also, a little soft music to accompany the fly overs would be a nice touch 👌
Thank you for the feedback. I don't have a way to screen record through my projector or the r50 at this time (and the r50 is displaying a different image than my projector), but I will look into it to see if there is a way for me to do that. I also just picked up a microphone so hopefully my audio will be better, and I will look into adding some music to my videos as well.
Thanks for playing my home course! Not sure why they only offer one set of tees to play, the course has all the standard options. 15,16,17 are the tricky holes w elevation changes so I wanted to see how close it was to real life. Thanks again!
It was interesting that I only had 1 tee box option
you should play mystic golf club ancaster ontario canada hole 10 is a par 6, holes 1, 2,9,10,13,17 would be decent to see. im torn between r50 and mevo+ to buy
Added it to my list!
ive been thinking of this unit. any way you could check, you dont have to play a round in a video, but just check ifThe Burford Gold Links, ontario canada, or mystic golf club, ontario canada is available to play. we would like to play our home course. i also have a lefty in the group, is switching sides a major issue?
Both of those courses are available. I haven't had to worry about switching between lefties and righties because I play alone, but my concern would be making sure it's aligned correctly after switching back and forth.
Here's the problem with HTH. Every single course looks exactly the same. Same textures, same trees and nothing extra that courses may have that make them stand apart from others. It's great if you don't care about graphics our all that extra stuff and just want to play your locals anytime you want. The E6 Apex software may be the next step in this with all the courses but rendered in much better quality. I hope anyways.
I haven’t played e6, and I do think the graphics are a lot better on GSPro. For me the appeal of HTH is the amount of courses available. I can play just about any real course there is and get a feel for playing that course, but the realism is definitely better on GSPro.
You should play Jamestown Country Club in Jamestown ND USA. Holes 7, 9, 11, 13 & 15.
Added to my list, thank you!
Hello! Great video! How are connecting the R50 to your projector? I don’t see a HDMI cable so I’m curious, keep up the great content!
Thank you. I am using a wireless hdmi transmitter I ordered from Amazon. It does require me to plug it in to power though.
I’ll actually add that to my list of everything I use (that I need to start adding to every video)
@@justinsobojinski thank you so much for the information! Did you order any particular model of wireless hdmi transmitter? And you mean you have to keep the R50 plugged into power all the time?
@@Luis_mora7 the r50 does not need to be plugged in all the time, but this wireless hdmi transmitter does. Here is the one I have. a.co/d/1YxIRVA
@@justinsobojinski gotcha! Are you running the wireless hdmi tx and rx to external battery packs or to an outlet on your wall? Thank you!
Would love to see what Lake of Isles North course looks like. It's in Connecticut zip code 06359. Hole 2 is a great par 3 with water all over the place and hole 6 is about 100 foot drop from the tee to the fairway and hole 17 is an elevated tee with the water from hole 2 surrounding the whole left side.
Sounds awesome, added to my list!
Can you tell what product you put at the base of your screen? I have the same problem, my screen doesn't go all the way to the ground. Thank You Alain Jacob
I’m using some king size wedge pillows off of Amazon. In some of my videos I have links to all the products I use and those are on there. I do still need to get something to go in front of those though because they aren’t quite tall enough so I still have to grab balls from behind the screen too often.
Play rolling hills golf course, Bremerton Wa. Even if it is only a few holes, Ty.

Before I buy the Garmin R-50 for 7550 $ canadian I want to know if the gold course Beauceville Quebec Canada and St- Georges Quebec Canada is on the list of Home T Hero Thank you Alain Jacob
I can see St. Georges is, it’s called Club de Golf St-Georges, I’m not sure exactly what the other course is, but there is a Club de Golf Beauceville if that’s it.
Do you want to see me play and preview either or both of them?
Yes can you play the Club de golf st- Georges hole 7 and 11 and for the golf Beauceville the hole 8 and 15@@justinsobojinski
@@justinsobojinski Yes the hole 7 and hole 11 in Club the Golf Si-Georges. The hole 8 -15 for Beauceville
Tree on 2 should be on tree on 7 7 is index 1
Not quite sure what you mean here, and I haven’t been looking at the index for each hole, but on the r50 you can view the scorecard which does show the index for each hole.
@ so the tree on the green on 2 .. there is trees but not on the green itself. So not sure if that affects putting The tree in the middle of 3 That should be about 130 yards out from hole 7 Glad you enjoyed the course You had some good scores :)
@@brendanlawlor2253 that makes sense. I should go back and see if the trees are actually in the green or if that was just on the flyover.
Yes trees everywhere

Hi Justin would you please add Heron Lakes (Great Blue course) in Portland, Oregon to your list.
@@brandondorsey203 added to my list!
I think a cool test would be to play the exact same course (no wind) on a radar unit like Trackman or Mevo + (GSPro/E6) and see what happens.
That would be awesome and I would love to do it, unfortunately I don't have access to either of those. Although I did have a Mevo+ at one point but sold it because I couldn't get it to work well in my space.
How about pawleys plantation is South Carolina
I have added that to my list of courses to play
Hey great video. Can you play Haggin Oaks Allister Mackenzie course in Sacramento, CA. That would be absolutely awesome! Thank you
Thanks for watching! I'll add that to my list, As of right now that one should be published on December 4th.
@ great thank you very much!!
I’ve seen reviews where the chipping doesn’t read properly , did you ever encounter mis reads
I haven’t experienced any in Home Tee Hero, but I don’t think the R50 is quite yet ready for GSPro. Do you which software the chipping issues were on?
@@justinsobojinski this was happening on gspro. Glad to know HTH has no issues
Do you use your R50 to play GS Pro?
I have, but right now mostly still using my BLP for GSPro
Hello mate, can you play Tidworth Garrison golf club. Short course of around 6500 yards. Any holes they are all good...Thanks
I'll add it to my list!
@justinsobojinski thanks for that the course looks spot on with regards to fairways, bunkers greens ect. The trees that you asked about are slightly to the left not right in front of the T box.
As somebody between a GC3 and the R50, I’m loving these videos. Thanks Justin! Quick question: now that you have the course conditions set familiar, how do you feel about the R50’s numbers? Not looking for scientific, just overall impression comparing your results on it vs your game on course. Course Request: Robert Trent Jones Trail - Capitol Hill - Prattville, AL The Judge Holes 1,2,6,7,11,16,18 (1,6,16 if a short list, 2 has a tree middle fairway that I’m curious if it shows up) Thanks again!
Glad you are enjoying them. I'll add that to my requests and post it as soon as I can (I'm hoping I can post 1 course a day.) As far as the numbers, I think the r50 is good and I have no issues with the results...I also noticed some of my data points got switched to metric, so that may have been the reason I didn't trust the ball speed, but that should be correct going forward.
Do you know if Augusta National, Pine Valley, and Cypress Point are in HTH?
They are, but sometimes there are other courses with similar names, so you need to make sure to choose the correct one.
Thanks for that Justin, looks just like real life and slopes are very realistic even on greens. Fairways are so difficult to hold up there. Pars on 3 difficult holes, thanks again.
You're welcome and I am really enjoying being able to do these.
Justin, many thanks for the fly over and mini round at Northbridge Golf Club ... it looks to play very much like the actual course. Indeed, that 5th hole is a blind hole at Northbridge too. The new HTH looks great! Thanks again for doing the vlog. 👋👋👋
Glad you enjoyed it! I’m having a lot of fun doing these and I hope requests keep coming!
9 iron shafted you there 😂
Yeah, that was a cool hole to play though for sure.
Hole 1 hole 7 hole 8 portarlington golf club Offaly Ireland 🇮🇪 How do rate the garmin vs your GC3 Better or worse? Same or better
I’m having more fun with the Garmin, really liking the impact camera, but I wouldn’t necessarily trust all the data yet. And I’ll add that course to my list!
Would you get an R50 or go for a GC3? Contemplating between both at the moment
I really do like the r50, but wouldn’t necessarily trust the numbers yet. I am really enjoying home tee hero on the Garmin, and if you are okay waiting for updates and the r50 to improve I would go with that. However, if you want accurate numbers now, and with a launch monitor that has been established and is one of the gold standards, go with the gc3.
@ Thanks for the reply on this. I agree I think it’s a bit too early to trust the numbers at this point as nice as the product looks. It would have been good to get the face angle at impact. I will probably go with the GC3. 👍
Can’t wait watch this… new favourite challenge… honest golfer
I'm really enjoying this too. I hope it can become a regular thing and the requests keep coming!
The Gold is the furthest back tees there 😂. The 10-20mph is gonna be +/- 1-3 clubs depending on wind direction
That's just wrong 🤦♂️...but makes so much more sense
Would love to see you play Stackstown ~alternate, Dublin Ireland. Be interested to see how true it is before I look at buying an r50. Great videos.
Thank you. Any specific holes?
I think 1, 4, 6, 9, 11, 15, 18. It's not particularly long so you'll be okay with your irons. You'll enjoy it, course management is key!!
@@walj1980 It looks like there is an option for Cottage or Gate, which one would you like to see?
@@justinsobojinski it's the gate course, enjoy, that 15th hole was the training ground for a 3 time major winner!
I see a lot of golf YTers with lav mics clipped to their hat. Just an idea. If you google “GSPro controls” choose the first result and it’ll have a full list of keyboard commands. If you’re gonna play GSPro frequently you might consider a control box.
Turns out my AirPods didn't and couldn't work as a mic without some workarounds.
How do you find putting speed on the R50?
I think the speed was okay. I may have had uphill/downhill putts that I wasn’t really paying attention to, but generally I don’t like putting on simulators.
Are the graphics better when over projector compared with on the R50 screen?
I think they are pretty similar, but using my wireless hdmi transmitter my projector is downgraded to 1080p, I’m not sure the resolution of the r50 itself.
@@justinsobojinski r50 is 1280x800 touchscreen resolution and the same for hdmi output. I think it might upscale to 1080p tho? I wonder if one of those expensive 4K upscale capable TVs would do much 🤔
@@Evan_Rodgers I don't think a TV that upscales would be worth it, because although these HTH graphics aren't bad, they are not 4k either.
Just watched this again.. thanks a million - course flyover mode might help you get through all the new requests instead of playing them if you don’t have time But again, thank you :) Esker hills in Ireland is Shane Lowry home course :) That’s a very hard course aswell
Course flyovers would probably be quicker, but then people wouldn’t see my struggle on their course 😂. Usually I’ll try to do all the holes, it was just hard with my daughter yesterday…but I did find out I can save where I was at and come back and play the rest later!
@@justinsobojinskithat’s a great feature ngl. Now to get them to add alignment calibration to an in game menu.
@@Evan_Rodgers alignment calibration in game would be so much better.
I think Garmin is taking more than 10% off power when in the rough. I have been playing mine and I think it is more like 20 - 25%. Either that or it calculates the distance hit with 10% less power less than just 10% of the full power distance.
@@DurangoLegend I’m not really sure, but I was not hitting it well in this video either.

Yep right course :) thanks a million We call it the meat grinder It’s an incredibly hard course Also, it is -2 degrees Celsius in Ireland So yeah your ball will be going nowhere in that cold weather Also very windy But your scores are pretty good considering you would be playing off 24hc if you were out there in real life
I plan on trying again. I can do better.
Is that sound Fx from the system
From the course on GSPro, yes
Feel like such a stalker lol Watching all your videos - I’m just excited to get my set up and watching this is awesome
All good, I appreciate the back and forth. I played I think 5 holes of The Heritage today and should be posting that tomorrow.

What is the distance between your screen and tee position? Does the R50 work good when you’re 7 or 8 feet from the screen?
I'm about 9 feet away from my screen. I think the r50 would be fine from 7 or 8 feet, I thought I saw somewhere that a minimum of 6 feet to screen was recommended but can't seem to find that now.
@ thanks!
That absolutely sucks - I thought it would be there for ever - like why design it if take it away…
I don’t think they intended to take it away, but some other things that I’m not 100% sure of is why it was removed.
Very jealous
Deadly!!!
I was hoping to do more but I guess this got taken down on GSPro, and that's probably my biggest issue with GSPro...you never know when a course might go away.
135 ball speed with driver and 115 5 iron sounds about right. I’m like 155 & 130ish. Look at you club head speed. Developer of The Stack says driver should be 1.18 times 7 iron. I’m guessing you swing a low 90s driver and a high 70s 7 iron.
I am currently low to mid 90s driver so that checks out. Currently using TheStack trying to get faster because I feel like I have the strength to swing closer to 110, but because of past back issues I'm mentally holding myself back.
@@justinsobojinski Good luck! I’ve had good results with Stack so 110 could be attainable-though based on my experience I’d say 6-8 mph is probably more reasonable. I also had a bad hip and getting surgery did more to improve swing speed than Stack. Get your back well first in my opinion since a herniated disc is no joke. My experience is also that Stack improved my irons speed relatively more than my driver but everyone is different. Even a 2-3 mph club head speed gain likely means you are hitting a full club less into most greens.
@@CharlesFromage appreciate the feedback, and any gain is good!
