🔫 Glock 17L Gen 5 Review: Unleashing the Power of the Slide! 🔫
As a fellow tattoo enthusiast, I hate to see people with tattoo job killers.
@@NonYa-uk9zj 🧐 what an odd thing to say. I don’t see how that has anything to do with the video, but to each their own I guess. 🤷♂️
I have the open top slide/ ported version already. It loses about 100fps vs the stock Glock 19 barrel with 115 and 124gr. Thinking maybe the JTT wouldn't have that issue. I'd like to see some chrono numbers on that review. Also looking at this for G34 and P365. Nice presentation. Liked & subscribed
Appreciate that information and also for the sub! If I can get some chrono numbers for the JTT I’ll post them for yall.
cant say i agree with the data but the videos speak for themselves. thanks guys!
We were surprised as well, but that is the great thing about data. You can’t argue with the facts and numbers haha However with recoil there’s so many variables you have to account for; Grip, Recoil Spring Weight, Mass of the Firearm, Power Factor of the Ammo, etc. This experiment could be done an infinite amount of times and you can get different results based of those variables. I’d love to see the numbers of anyone else doing this type of experiment!
Looks like it would be a nice optic if atibals warranty was any better. I’ve already had bad experience with them.
I personally have never had any issues with their warranty. Sorry to hear that you did not have the same experience.
It would be interesting to see if the speed of the round is affected by the different ports!
That’s actually a pretty good question, may have to get a chronograph to test that out!
I had the same thought.
Buying one in a few months
Nice, are you going stripped for a full build or with the Glock Parts?
Got one a few months ago. Really dig it!
Yeah, it’s probably the best Glock frame I’ve used so far. Including the new RXM frame, but I’m still wanting to try out the Nomad Frames at some point.
@ yeah. Most def. I yet have to try the RXM, Nomad and shadow. But Im good on glock clones. Lol
Haha idk man, with the rxm chassis system I’m looking forward to these frame companies to make some fcu models. Ruger did better with a chassis system than Springfield did. Since they had a ton of Gen 3 Parts on launch. While the echelon has yet to get aftermarket or OEM slides 🤦
do a small give away to people who watch , like and comment on this
Been considering the JTT Barrel. Gimmick or does it actually reduce recoil? Still doing my research. Good video. Subbed, man.
Appreciate the sub man, and it’s not a gimmick at all. We did a compensator comparison video that shows data on how much it reduces recoil. I’ll link it below for you. The Ultimate Glock Compensator Showdown! th-cam.com/video/rbyB_pKtQ2M/w-d-xo.html
Is the magazine release button compatible with Glock OEM as well?
If you’re asking if OEM Glock mags fit the frame, yes!
Comp are better for daily carry. Port are loud af
I think it depends on what you like. Personally if I was in a scenario where I had to defend myself in public, I’d want others to hear the noise. Plus with ports you’re not adding bulk to your firearm and holster.
@ i have the jtt on my carry it doesn’t look much different than my factory. I have shot many ported and without ear protection you dont wanna be near it
That's a snappy gun. Looks excessive with the factory barrel.
It felt excessive haha It’s the whole reason we decided to go down this path and gather data on the lot!
Man I never had a ported gun before these. The Jtt is nice but that aim ported 1 in a Grit Grips frame is immaculate with 124s.
Yeah, I love the ported barrel. I think it does better with recoil sway from left to right, because of how it blows the gas in a V. Plus that gold just looks good haha I will say the JTT did more than I expected for a $50 barrel/comp combo. We’re currently testing it against other compensators to see just how well it does.
I'm going with the complete Grit grips sniper green and a sniper green upper by palmetto with the big cuts in the slide😊
That will look great, make sure you go ahead and order the GG magwell. They just stocked up on the sniper green option, and they haven’t been staying in stocking long. Ask me how I know haha
Thanks for the video! Do you know if the holster that comes with the original TP9SFX will fit the SFX -S?
From what I can tell it should, as the two firearms have very similar characteristics on the slide. I haven’t tried it myself though.
All it needs is an integrated mag funnel like 80 percents arms GST9. I'll never understand why aftermarket frame manufacturers don't do it rather than producing tacky and out of place magwells later.
Well they did just release a magwell, but I think they look seamless to the grip. I’m still waiting to get it in my hands though.
I liked the video, I want one of those pistols. And you have another subscribed.
Appreciate the sub, and hope you enjoy our videos. The Echelon has been a pretty good pistol for me, and hopefully it will perform the same for you!
I just bought both like everyone else. Why choose?
This is the way!!
All my Glocks already have this - it's called skateboard tape
Wow, Skateboard tape can change the degree of a peice of polymer and add “integrated” ledges to it….. that must be some crazy expensive skateboard tape!
no they dont dipshit. these grips have an 18 degree grip angle not 22 degree like glock. skateboard tape lmao clown
@@GoodMoralTacticalI like my Glocks but I mean I do like diversity it's the spice of life😊
I agree, to each their own and we all get to enjoy the fruits of that labor. Enjoy your firearm and get comfortable with how it handles. I like the Glock platform, they just never felt right in my hands until this grip.
Great video guys! I've been debating on this or the PSA PCC
Appreciate it! I really think you’d like this 3rd plus. It offered a lot of upgrades I wanted to see in the series, specifically the hand guard design.
can't hear because of the gunshots😩😩
Sold a Rival S to buy a TTi. I shot the Rival S well, but with the weight for me it wasn't very enjoyable. Haven't shot the TTi yet as I'm waiting on the MeCanik MO3 red dot for the first trip to the range. Got the TTi for 800 with some offers available from Academy Sports and the red dot was also a good price so got it cheaper than what the gun and red dot combo goes for.
The TTI is a great polymer gun and give you great recoil control because of compensator. I can understand the weight from a steel frame not being for everyone, but for competition weight is heavily sought after. Hope you enjoy the TTI!
Robinson Angela Lopez Helen Williams Margaret
Ask him why he left the military.
Never knew a range trip could be such a workout😂
The akv is a blowback system not gas piston
You are right, thank you for the correction.
I have two Rival S and had issues with both. The Darkside only needed the recoil spring lightened and now it (mostly) runs fine. The chrome version had double feed issues and other malfunctions. Changed out the extractor, recoil and striker springs and now it also (mostly) runs great. Has occasional no strike on the primer, but it's pretty rare now.
Dang. I just ordered mine so let’s hope it runs better than that for $880
@@J-racks I think the newer ones are fine now1
I always see the tti compared to the rival s. I love my rival and my tti, but is the rival s that much better than every other canik. Like the mete pro and the combat executive?
It depends on what you are looking to get out of the models they offer. The METE is the series below the rival series and offers great things. The biggest thing with the Rival series is the longest barrel length, and was purpose built for competition. While Mete has a completion package, it wasn’t purpose built has a series for competition. The Rival was, I love the Rival series because of the bigger frame and the Steel Frame really earns it stripe for me. Hope that helps!
I was just curious I am newer to firearms and have a question about this. How come people compare the rival s so much to the tti when the tti was a lightweight made gun and the rival s is a steel frame heavy gun without a compensator. How does the rival s get wrapped up in that? Wouldn’t people want to just compare the regular rival to the tti since the tti isn’t steel frame? Then if ppl liked the rival better they would still not have the right trigger a lot of other things and no comp. Moving to a rival s to get all that to be better than a tti still leaves you without things the tti has, and a way heavier gun and people never really mention that and I wonder why.
I have both Rival S versions, the TTI, combat executive, rival, SFX, SFTs, elite sc, etc. the rival s is better than the rest. Saying that, the polymer frames are much less finicky and I have not had to do anything to run almost any ammo on the polys. My SHTF belt is set up for my rival with a light because I have never had an issue with it. Once you get the S dialed in, it is easier to shoot such that you can be a little off with the hand pressure and still follow up quickly and accurately. If I was ranking (extremely large palms so there is bias towards larger grips) it would be rival s, TTI, rival, SFX, sft, elite sc, elite executive (seems like the worst of both worlds for me, small grip but not ccw small gun). Been running my s in LO and TTI in open the last few weeks and the s consistently produces better times (would guess it is even between times TTI and s are first to go into a stage during the period)
@@Jbird18 So the reason why they are compared to each other is because they are at the same price point. This just leads to people asking which one they should get if they had to choose one at that price. The internals are mostly the same on the two, the TTI just has a fluted barrel to pair with the comp from Taran. The triggers and the pull weights are the exact same, the sights are different as the TTI is not adjustable like the Rival S, and the Rival S comes with more optic plates for competition.
Wonder how much that slide would weigh if i put it on a aluminum or steel frame 😮
Well the only aluminum frame for Glock I’ve seen is from Matrix Arms, and it’s 3lbs. I don’t know if it’s compatible with Gen 5 G17L slides though. I think if they were though, it would be roughly 4lbs.
I have an old Argentine High Power that has less muzzle flip than these. The NRA should devise a mechanism which takes the human factor away from muzzle flip tests.
I'm with you brother
It’s a struggle haha
Hey Man, good video. Would like to hear your opinion whether or not you've shot it between the Shadow Systems DR 920L vs Glock Gen 5 / 17L? Thank you!
Thank you for watching! As of this moment we have not gotten our hands on the DR920L. I have shot other Shadow System models though, and they do very well. They feel like custom built Glocks due to all the work they put into them. The high beaver tail on the grips is one of the better parts of the grip, I like. Hope to have our hands on one in the future, so we can compare it with other Glock clones. Primarily PSA Dagger, Shadow System, and the Grit Grip frames.
@@GoodMoralTactical Thank you!
16 pound spring?
Yup, a 16lb recoil spring so the slide doesn’t hit as hard after the round cycles.
You should do a Jakl 300blk vs Krink 300blk video.
When it’s available, we may just do that. I wouldn’t mind adding an AK to the vault.
Port the Rival-S and it will be best of both worlds. Weight to reduce felt recoil, and port to reduce muzzle flip.
Definitely on my list of work I’d like to get done. I’m waiting until Canik sells barrels for the Rival - S before I do it though. I don’t want to lose the ability to run it in production uspsa competitions.
or do what i did and get the tti and get the taylor freelance brass backstrap and magwell and make it the same weight as the rival s. either way would work but porting the rival s might be more expensive. i paid 150 for the brass wights and i doubt you could get it ported for that price. this way you can still run it in competition also.
I bought a new Gen 5 G17L a few weeks ago. POS jams every 3rd round!
Hate to hear that for you. May I ask what type of ammo you were running in your G17L?
Excellent question….now how about an excellent response? What ammo are you using?
@@OrionCorsari for all the videos we’ve done so far, with pistol calibers, we’ve used AAC 115gr and 147gr FMJ.
I own the jakl in a 10" 5.56 and i love it! I also will be getting the 8" 300blkout version soon. I dont have the AK-V but i do own the AR-V and i love it as well. With the AR-V I haven't had any of the double feeding issues out of the box that u experienced with the AK-V...I suggest tuning the gas settings since that may be an ammo related issue. Great video guys keep em coming and good luck your channel is growing steadily!!!😁
@BigDoggRegg thanks for the suggestion, we’ll look into that. Although not to spoil it, but we may have gotten a CZ Scorpion to replace the AK-V haha I may end up getting a 5.56 version of the jakl myself, although I’m waiting on that 308!
Cool...I got a scorpion s1 too... out of the box I ABSOLUTLY HATED IT!!! The grip handle & angle sucked, the handguard was like a cheese shredder on my hand, the charging handle was too small for my hand, mag release paddle too short, trigger pull and reset too hard and long, and the ambi safety dug into my right hand knuckle while shooting... luckily HB Industries took care of ALL those issues and now it's AWESOME... plus I added an angled foregrip, a wml, green dot optic and an AR buffer tube style folding sba4 brace. I got a binary trigger for it but I haven't installed it yet
I can definitely see that, with the rail system they have. We grabbed the Scorpion 3+ that has the MLOK rail system, with integrated grip pads. Its easier to grip and friendlier to your hands for sure! Your build sounds awesome though man, hope it serves you well.
Good video! I own all 5 of the sfx style caniks...the original, the Mete, the rival, the rival s and the TTI. Out of the box the rival s shoots the best out of all of them to me. I have also installed a Wasatch rail compensator on all of them except the TTI and that also made the shooting experience of each better...now if i could find someone to make a holster for em with the comps!😂
Thanks man, I love the Rival S. The weight takes some getting used to for sure, when drawing from the holster. We are working on a showdown video between this and the TTI to show the benefits of each one, I think you'll like it! I was wondering how those comps are for the Rival Series. If Canik made spare barrels for the Rival S, I would get one ported. Guess I just have to wait a bit for an aftermarket one haha As for holsters check out Ghost Holsters, they make competition holsters that adjust to any pistol length.
@BigDoggRegg I found this company that makes holsters for the comp on the Canik. Thought I’d share it with you! www.sousatactical.com/services-5-2
@GoodMoralTactical that's awesome brother! I just ordered 3...THANK YOU!!!!
Happy to help, definitely let me know how they hold up for you!
I concur 100%, pretty much running the same Canik lineup you mentioned and the Rival S Dark Side is my favorite to shoot and the best shooting out of the box.
Why is he just staring into the camera like that😭
Clearly he is daydreaming about the range! 😂
Sir I do not know where you got the information about changing the back strap but removing the slide to change them is incorrect!
@@phillylove39 hey I appreciate the time you took to comment. I am getting this information from Springfield’s website and Manual. I will include the link to the site below. They have a clear warning stating to never change it with the slide on. support.springfield-armory.com/manuals/echelon-manual?section=5RK0xnLym597hkR4qRUywM&topic=7FfRwUwuDAUxDBnVeUATH3
I have an echelon threaded barrel, you do not need to remove the slide. As for the blackstrap install, you make it to believe that is hard to install the backstrap. If think about your car seatbelt. You push it in till you hear a click, same concept.
I was just about to say that is not how you have to change the slide 🤣 I TH-camd how to do it there’s videos older than this one that tells you brother
Great to see a new channel. Best of wishes Sir
@@moshedayan9049 thank you, and feel free to send in any requests you may have for new content!
Hey brother, i see you're a new pewtuber, congratulations and good luck...you got your 6th subscriber in me. Good video keep em coming!!!
Thanks for the sub, and hope to keep cranking out content you like!
By chance, what kind of ammo were you running on it? I was using Winchester 9 mill 115 FMJ on mine and was having some feeding issues.
@@jordanvillani1585 hey man, we were running 124 grain AAC. For longer barrel pistols I typically go heavier grain due to the recoil spring weight the factory set. Sometimes those springs are too heavy, so it slams the slide back too fast for the rounds to feed right.
Love the long barrel!
Agreed, the longer barrel definitely feels good on the recoil.
