Would be nice to demonstrat on a piece of scrap drywall, painted dark, so we could see the technique close up, and what the pattern looks like.

It would be nice to get an angle or lighting to see what it looks like applied. Maybe a close up.

Did you have to prep the painted surfaces before applying the mud? I am a novice DIYer who is tacking water-damaged sheetrock in a bathroom. The drywall that will remain intact is painted with a semi-gloss paint.

I’m gonna help my daughter patch her ceiling the plumber cut out a ugly hole looks terrible but we gonna tackle it I gotta get some furring strips so 1x2 ,1x3, 1x4 or 2x4 she said she had sheet rock 6” knife and all purpose joint compound 👍

I just got a little problem

My Sister's dog scratched and ate through like this but right next to the front door. He ended up getting through part of the door frame as well. Yikes. Thanks for showing it....I feel more confident to excavate and see how big two holes next to a shower door get. Fingers crossed, I despise drywall and swore I'd never do it.....

That's not a door kind of damage. That's rowdy teenager damage

Great camera work man. Really helps to see up close. I've done a few small repair with all purpose. Going to try some hot mud. How soon would you do your "slick out" if using say 20 or 45 minute mud? Thank you for taking us along on your jobs. 😅

Why not just pull the baseboards. Run it behind them, and then reinstall the baseboards

I swear, if this guy sold tickets to watch him drywall I would would camp out overnight to get a front row seat. With all the grandstanding “pros” on the internet, it’s refreshing to watch a no BS craftsman ply his trade. When he encounters something I’d consider a problem, he says matter-of-factly “no big deal,” and I know it’s gonna be ok. Gives me hope I can get there someday. Thank you!

I have known and seen this before but 'a friend' put a fist through wall and I wanted to review. I see where you changed trowel, but did you ever change mud? Used the same for patching as for texture? I didn't see 'spray texture,' maybe I missed something.

How about a large hole like you are showing without board behind pipes. The hole is behind the stove where it is plugged into. What a mess!! Please show something or suggest a way so I can make sure that when the superintendent comes to finally fix it I will know if He Knows what He is Doing. Please Help. I used latex paint nothing expensive to mix with mud instead of water. What that does is give you a solid bond with added firmness.

Try using the proper bit and you won't sink those screws so deep. They aren't holding the board on once you push in past the paper.
